  1. That's what I think it would be. If you don't want to make your permanent decision right now, bring in Otto for a little while.
  2. Well hell, once you cross the fat warp barrier, may as well go all the damn way.
  3. Hopefully Lance can no longer hold up his end of the bargain.
  4. So even if Otto is subsequently let go you still won't listen? Wow, that's a lot of angst over a radio color man decision.
  5. This is basically the one we have done, curious to see others to make it even better. Try to run 3+ miles prior to consuming though. The Bum would probably add cheese wiz to it. 2 rotisserie chicken breats, 1 to 2 sticks of butter fat (run 3 miles to compensate), 1 bottle of reds hot sauce, a jar of Marie calendars blue cheese dressing fat (run 3 miles to compensate), bag of shredded cheese fat (run 3 miles to compensate) and 2 blocks of Cream cheese fat (run 3 miles to compensate). You melt the butter, cream cheese and reds in a sauce pan. Then add the blue Cheese dressing. Shred the chicken and then pour the mixture over it and mix it. Put the shredded cheese on top and either bake it of just mix it all in. It will melt either way Corrected for my sorry-ass slow metabolism.
  6. Funk calling Scalabrine our victory cigar was chuckle-worthy.
  7. Lordy. By "stumbling on Bulls stuff" do you mean page 241 of the google image search?
  8. I'm kind of hoping it will die down now, but it is interesting that Paul Hornung -- of all people -- kind of "gets it" when it comes to what Cutler must endure trying to be the first really successful QB in this town since Luckman.
  9. I've never heard of peptic ulcers being caused by spicy food before. Rose said that's what caused it, or at least he thought so. I can see not eating spicy food while they heal, but causing it? Oh well, hope he's feeling better. Perhaps that explains some of the more recent struggles.
  10. Not where they currently are. What about trading down and taking Locker, though? Might feel more comfortable if they could take him lower.
  11. Sounds like an interesting/fun job. Good luck.
  12. Amare's stock has dropped significantly since the Knicks came back to around .500. It's a lot more than Rose vs. Amare though. I think LeBron will be his biggest challenge. I know people won't agree, but I think based on how bad the Cavs are this year, and his jaw dropping numbers , he will be a serious contender, and probably win. I think Rose can win, but I think voters probably prefer not to vote him in if there's another decent candidate in the realm of Rose. The reason being that Rose is young and has time to win MVPs. If someone like Dwight Howard steps up in the 2nd half and puts himself in contention, I think he'll win it. Or Chris Paul or whoever. I would think it will be difficult for Rose to overcome one of the more established names, like LeBron. I could be wrong, obviously.
  13. I don't think he wants to leave the Cards but I do believe him that once Spring Training starts negotiations will be cut off and he will at least test the FA market. He has already taken a home town discount in his last contract and deserves to be paid like he is the best player in the game. The hardest part to gauge is how high St. Louis is willing to go, they have built this franchise the last 10 years or so around pitching. Are they capable of going into the $120-$130 million range in payroll next season. There revenue will not be changing, they will not be building a new stadium, how will they support a rise of payroll from around $90 million to over the new level in 1 year time. Really Pujols owes nothing to the Cards he has done enough for them, but I do think he respects them enough to where he would not sign with the Cubs just out of principle. And since there would undoubtedly be other options. It's a nice fantasy for a rainy day though. "Pujols defects to enemy, St. Louis in flames."
  14. Mainly that Wisconsin-ites hate people from Illinois, but are more than willing to utilize selective amnesia when people from Illinois open their wallets.
  15. I know. Way too late for any of us to actually change who we root for.
  16. Well, hating a team because of something an outside person does is pretty weird to me. Deciding to like a team because of one player is also very strange. To be honest I don't get Rockford being split, either. That city is well within the Illinois border, and Chicago is much, much closer than Green Bay. Those people have no more claim to being Packers than someone living in Philly would have rooting for NY. And Wisconsin doesn't care if Rockford people root for the Pack. They hate Rockford. It's Illinois. You're all FIBs to them.
  17. I know we're not. I just don't see why it's a big deal. You're talking about sports fan decisions that are generally made by kids under the age of 10. They don't think in terms of "I can't root for the Packers, they're rivals to the Bears, and these other teams I picked are in Chicago!!!!". Note to Kindergarten instructors: new mandatory lesson plan.
  18. How often do you see Bears jerseys at Cubs games? Fairly often. Certainly every time I am at Wrigley I note at least a couple Bears jersey/hats. Depending on how they're doing -- or expected to do -- at the time. I expect there will be plenty on display this year.
  19. I don't see many Cub/Packer fans showing up to Wrigley with a Packer jersey on and a Cub hat. They may say "I don't care" but on some level there's an understanding that it's strange, and a hiding of one's loyalties in certain situations that goes along with that.
  20. Death goes a long way for ratings That's probably more a draw for the casual fan than it is for die hards.
  21. Actually most Packers/Cubs/Bulls/Hawks fans I know grew up in Chicago but grew up during a time where the bears sucked and were irrelevant and the Packers were one of the top teams in the league with Favre. So they turned their back on their Chicago roots and rooted for the idiot Packers.. Which begs the questions why the hell would you dump the Bears but not the Cubs? (which I guess the answer is probably Sammy Sosa) I made a rant about mixed allegiances in the rants forum a couple of years ago, that I felt was generally poorly received. It just seems so weird to me to hate the Chicago Bears one day, and love the Chicago Bulls the next. Me too, but there are so many. It's weird to me, but to many fans it isn't. I guess it goes back to people rooting for different reasons, and their fandom coming from different places in life. For me, being a sports fan is completely and totally tied to my life in the city of Chicago. It's about where I come from.
  22. I watched pieces of that game but it just seemed like they couldn't get over the top against a Minnesota team that they needed to beat in this situation. There were some unlucky things that happened, like hitting the inside of the post and the refs blowing the whistle on a puck too early that wound up in the net. Q was pretty unhappy in the post game presser -- he didn't rant & rave but it seemed clear to me he's frustrated. As is Toews. I mean, I'm glad they are showing the frustration but we're going to be heading down the stretch here pretty quickly and it would be nice if some of that frustration translates into a real surge, without taking steps back again.
  23. The funniest thing about all the meatheads offering up Rivers as an example of how Cutler should have played through it is that Rivers was pulled from the game when he actually got hurt. It was the week before against Indy. He got hurt in the 4th quarter, was pulled from the game and Billy Volek led the Chargers to the come from behind win. He played the following week after having 6 days to test it and have braces specifically designed and still sucked. It's silly to go back to one of the most extreme examples of a player going out there with a bad injury, and then pull that back and try to make it the new rule for how all players should act with an injury. If Rivers wants to go out there with a blown out knee, that's fine. It doesn't mean anything in terms of Jay Cutler's toughness. And of course none of that even touches on the fact that Rivers stunk that game anyway. It was clear he didn't help his team by doing this.
  24. I looked at that and immediately saw the same. Last year of Jordan to now. NBA pulls less than half of what it used to.
  25. He's right, but Rosenbloom still manages to make me want to punch him in the face, even when he's right. Yeah. Kind of surprising to see him take this angle though. I didn't think he would.
