    Yeah, caustic situations are nothing new to Parra. I don't know him or anything, but it wouldn't be a surprise that he rubbed someone the wrong way based on what I've seen of him in the past.

    The devil probably understands the need to get rid of the nonperformers regularly.

    Hasn't NFL Replay always been the best couple games from the previous week, rather than every game? They seemed to have shown way more games than that last year. OK. They also had a show on that I used to check out called minute by minute (or something like that) where they took you through the day and showed all the scoring plays as they were happening. I like that one some, too.

    It is. But -- I think in that case, they were going for awful. Mainly, I think geico and progressive should simply advertise less. We all know they exist, and they want us to insure our stuff through them.

    Hah, funny. Nobody really listens to Kaplan, right? He can say whatever he wants, so long as it means nothing...

    OK, well who knows. I noted some of the radio hosts in Chicago were talking about it, but I've got too much work on my mind to really pay attention :)

    The one year we emphasized patient hitting we won 97 games and everyone was happy as heck until the playoffs... What exactly is the problem with this whole "swing at everything" deal?

    He's awesome. Seriously, I've taken for granted Urlacher over the years. What a great Bear.

    Wouldn't the Houston/Texas rivalry be enough to tide them over? Certainly Milwaukee would have seen it similarly. It was that Milwaukee/Chicago instant rivalry that surely was very attractive. And it's worked out exceptionally well.

    I'm surprised he said so much about the Cubs. You can tell he's thought about it. I also have difficulty believing it would actually happen.

    I would have, but now with Urlacher possibly not playing it makes it less clear for me.

    We had runbacks this week, though. We're going to have to wait for successive weeks to rail on the kickoff rule. It didn't really hurt things this week. Plenty of ST action was to be found.

    Interestingly enough, both losers.

    Not a great way to start. But assume four weeks, and he still only misses 2-3 games. Perhaps more importantly he'll miss all of camp. Never good to have a guy down, but all things considered I'd rather have a veteran like Sharpie suffer this now, than in February. Missing camp won't hurt nearly as much for a player with as much experience in the system as he has. Here's to a quick, full recovery.

    Maybe skip the hot dog next time. Not sure where they're cooking up that stuff, but it doesn't sound too good anymore.

    I'll be the old crotchety guy. I don't want to see this happen. But I think you're right. At some point running will become like "hey they RAN it! Haha, weird." Not sure I want to live in that football world.

    It was 8 and 5. Still too lucky. Lions suck.

    Fiesty they are, but I think the Dolphins will be overmatched in this division in '11.

    Nonsense. Unless you base your view of Bears fans off of 20 year old SNL sketches. it's not about a lack of fawning. Idiots have routinely labeled the Bears as the worst team in football without any reasonable defense of such picks. The media in general tends to pile on the negativity surrounding the Bears, apparently due to a lack of franchise QBs for several decades. You will occasionally see a guy like Peter King get overly giddy about them. But it's rare. It is justifiable to say you don't think the Bears will be very good this year and/or they will take a step back. 7-9 is a reasonable prediction, and 10 losses isn't absurd. But picking them to be the worst team in the league is flat out stupid, or purposefully inflammatory. My vote goes to "purposefully inflammatory." It seems to me one of the quickest ways to get your name circulated these days is to bag on a team with a large, dedicated fan base that will freak out over the pick. In 2011's world, that means: call the Bears terrible.

    it's like that everywhere, though. Also, you can't read that Barnwell column and objectively say the guy was giving an honest, sober analysis of the game. He got poked on twitter by Bears fans that were berating him and he clearly wrote the column in that frame of mind. It's clear as [expletive] day. haha, i was drunk last night and sent him like 20 messages calling him a [expletive] LOL, that's great.
