  1. Bwahahah! Back to 3!
  2. Damn. I like 3 goal leads better. :(
  3. YEAH BABY!
  4. No harm no foul? They bash craw in the face and it should be nothing? Who is that idiot?
  5. Well, every team is going to feel that way though. Another way of looking at it is, the Hawks have put themselves in this situation with endless giveaways in their own zone, poor puck control, and period-long lapses that give games away to mediocre teams.
  6. That's a sizeable win against a quality opponent. Even at the UC, I'm impressed. This team is rolling. I don't care if Philly is playing well, if we get them in the 1st round it's Bulls easily.
  7. Yeah, I'm to the point where I want to see the ties make a comeback over meaningful games being decided on a skills competition. They should still make them do the shootout though. Most fans do love it. Here's a thought. Each team gets a point in the standings if still tied after 5:00 of OT. Still do the shootout in its current form, and if the home team wins, all the fans get a coupon for a free taco or something. The NHL could set up a national deal with some fast food chain. If I ruled the NHL... EDIT: I realize after five seconds of reflecting on this awesome idea that TV viewers then wouldn't give two [expletive] about the shootout. So, you'd have to throw out the rules and let the guys do whatever crazy moves they want. ENTERTAIN US! Ties were unpopular, which is why they went to this format in the first place. There's no reason to think people would suddenly warm up to the idea of kissing their sisters, so to speak. There's not a really good option, so the worst thing that could be done is to start flipping back and forth between the bad ones, IMO.
  8. He can do what he wants, but to me it's pretty weird to decline the invitation. Especially on the basis that he "hasn't been on the team for almost a year." It hasn't been very long. I wonder if this is more about not wanting to rock the boat in Philly, because he has to play with those guys now and they lost....to him, essentially.
  9. I don't know the rule either. That puck came to a complete stop though, on the spin. It was only for a split second, but clearly observable on the replay. Whether or not that means it should have been disallowed -- I don't know.
  10. I know, it's painful to think of the possibilities that couldn't happen because of Tommie's injuries. I agree -- let's focus on getting Jay the protection he needs and see how far he can take us.
  11. The tailgating scene makes the outside worthwhile, if you like that kind of thing. In the offseason though -- it's basically a big old brick building in the middle of an asphalt lake. There are some semi-interesting statues & such scattered around the grounds. Nothing even remotely close to Wrigley. You can eat lunch at Friday's year round -- which will give you a view of the inside of the park. So you shouldn't be limited to the exterior if you have time for a bite to eat.
  12. We win. That's all that matters tonight.
  13. Frakitty frak frak
  14. Stop letting them hang around. Thx.
  15. Writers like this are being paid to come up with interesting things to say. Regurgitating the common pick for the 10,000th time is most definitely not interesting.
  16. What's the point of this? It's not OK to even doubt the Phillies or something? Perhaps every writer should just line up and spit out the status quo. That makes for entertaining reading. Frankly I don't want to hear from any of these bozos unless they can come up with a reason why the Phillies might not win the East, or the NL. Anything that just states the obvious pick is a waste of my time.
  17. By car -- take 94 west towards Madison. You won't miss the Miller Park exit a couple miles down the road from downtown. Public transit -- not sure if there is a bus that goes there on non-game days. Milwaukee kind of sucks for public transit. No trains, buses are kind of sketchy IMO. If you rent a car, you're golden.
  18. Most popular sports radio show in a big market. At least, I think they're still on top. But I agree. I stopped listening to them long ago. Schtick got old for me. Especially "who you crappin" which should have been laid to rest years ago.
  19. Great, and I was actually able to see it live
  20. So what if it's a war of attrition? Football is partly about whether players can take the physical stress of the game. We didn't reach some magic number with the 16 game schedule. People definitely made similar arguments when it jumped from 14 games. Yet the league thrived. Go figure, the world didn't end!
  21. I love the 18 game idea for basically the reasons CCP has outlined. More (non-preseason) football is a good thing. I like it too. Give me more football. As for the added injury risk, I'm sure it's real but the regular playoff franchises already play more games every season. They learn to mitigate the extra wear and tear.
  22. One article I read said the autopsy revealed an enlarged heart. How horrid.
  23. Come on guys, you've got as many fans as the Bucks to tonight. No excuse for putting up a tepid performance just because you aren't at the UC.
  24. Evanston: it kind of depends on whether the hotel is close to the train. I stayed at a Holiday Inn in Evanston once, and it wasn't near the train. Only a Pace Bus serviced the area, and was only *hourly* It kind of sucked. For the lack of accessibility to Wrigley, you'd do just as well staying anywhere near a train station -- even further away mileage-wise. This is all assuming you don't want to spend the $$$ to stay downtown, of course. My first choice would be to stay on Michigan Ave, or that general area. I've also stayed in the Merchandise Mart area with good results.
  25. The more rest for Rose the better.
