  1. Does he run well in mud, though? Hopefully the less-than-ideal conditions contribute to an AP fumble or two :)
  2. Yeah, one-sided team. Damn those are some incredible catches though. Offense can definitely hang with the best.
  3. I would not be surprised if he had aspirations to play in LA or NY. Whole new crop of females. Man, would it ever suck to lose him in the prime years of his career.
  4. Maybe meaningless, but going along with a weird quote the other day from Peppers I don't like to see this stuff. Well, its not like this is pro wrestling. Peppers isnt going to hit Trestman with a chair in a shocking heel turn because he doesnt like him. I'm not concerned about him beating up Trestman, but rather his relationship with the DC. Peppers was a no show in game 1. That happens from time to time but I'd hope he could overcome that. He's going to have relationship problems with just about everyone if he keeps getting dominated by backup OTs, that's for sure. But it was one game, I'll give him a little time to round into form just like with anyone else.
  5. I knew you were joking, bukie.
  6. At least that one doesn't have something crazy like ranking the Ravens in top 10.
  7. Yeah, a clothesline 3 yards out of bounds doesn't even stop him. Hopefully part of what we saw was a terrible GB defense. Helps our chances if they can't stop anybody this year, and I'd like to think Kaepernick is eventually going to be at least brought down to earth a little bit. They're scary though, no doubt.
  8. ESPN will hype whatever comes along to get more viewers. It's probably another wildcat type deal, where it makes waves for a season or so and then defenses figure out how to slow it down. You'll probably start seeing a lot of defensive "injuries" in upcoming Eagles games.
  9. Is he trying to figure out how they'll win another game after this debacle? Arkish is 100% better now than when he was on 670 while still employed by the Bears, his years defending Hatley and Jauron were awful to listen to. He was paid to do that. I found it to be funny, especially the call-ins from fans who would point out Jauron's obvious failings, and Hub jumping in with half-hearted defenses to spare Jauron from having to answer. Once he left the Bears it was almost like he snapped back to the negative side of things, making up for lost time :)
  10. LOL @ Harbaugh's comments on Matthews today. There's going to come a time when Jimbo's barely-contained inner rage is just going to boil over, and it's going to be one hell of a show.
  11. I thought that was odd at the time, but assumed it was correct to spot from the point of the foul. With NFL officials, assuming they're getting it right is not a good idea.
  12. For a team that suffers from low fan interest when they suck, the Jets sure do get an awful lot of national coverage.
  13. First thing that comes to mind for me is what a cluster [expletive] of "body language" discussion we'd have to endure if Cutler ever reacted like that. Rings matter. I hear ya, and if I were a Bears fan I would probably say the same thing, but if Cutler had a Super Bowl ring that conversation wouldn't be happening. As jersey suggested, that just further illustrates the point. You can win Super Bowls regardless of body language, but somehow stupid people don't get it, and continue to make a huge issue out of it when Cutler doesn't look all chipper and happy -- as if that's what makes the difference.
  14. At times he got abused. That horrible pass interference on the ridiculous lob ball that was up for grabs for anybody who decided to look was ugly. The one pick was fantastic work by him though. Tillman has to hold some sort of club record for leaving the game with an injury but returning during that game. He was covering AJ Green, in his defense. Green is special. Marshall is a great receiver, but Green is top tier. It was both awesome and painful to watch him work. A little more pass rush might have helped too, especially on those longer pass plays. Both teams likely come away from this game wondering where the pressure went. Especially Cincy.
  15. First thing that comes to mind for me is what a cluster [expletive] of "body language" discussion we'd have to endure if Cutler ever reacted like that.
  16. Yeah, the national takeaway is probably that the Bears lost the game too. I'm not sure they know. The game was barely talked about in the highlight shows from what I saw. The Giants, Jets, and Pats opened their seasons yesterday in the NFL. No time for secondary, "flyover country" teams. Seriously though, I got my fill of Bears coverage yesterday evening and then this morning. Mike & Mike covered it fairly well. NFL network usually gives each game a fairly equal rundown.
  17. Presumably they consider the lunge a 'football move'? I don't know. ill never get it i guess. the johnson one was exactly the same, except he wasn't hit by a defender. I think the NFL is either getting dangerously close to a rules problem, or they've crossed the line and have a rules problem. There are certain areas of the game, such as this one, which I don't think have adequate, clear explanations.
  18. Yes, insanely effective training program or.... Not going to go there, my friend :)
  19. Yeah, that's right. Gould didn't even win the job in camp. Bears brought him in out of desperation. And he turns out to be the best kicker in franchise history.
  20. Tough run for the Vikes, not having their home opener until week 3. Cincy is clearly the better team and a much tougher matchup for the Bears. Ponder looked pretty terrible in week 1 with 3 INTs, and actually the Vikings run game didn't look all that great. They might be better against the Bears, but I still think the Bears win by 7 points. Bears 27 Vikings 20.
  21. When Gould entered the league, the team would try to protect him from 50+ yard kicks because he clearly struggled with them. Now he's nailing 58 yarders. It's pretty much mind-boggling how he has progressed. He must have the most amazing leg strength/conditioning program known to mankind, and his practice habits must be insanely effective.
  22. Initially I thought it was a punch (posted as much) but on replays, it looked more like slaps at the helmet. The head butt came immediately after the two slaps/punches. OK, got it. There's no way you can go to the head like that, in any case. Plus, the hit out of bounds was just so over-the-top ridiculous. I know they got Staley for the follow-up and the call was bungled by the refs, but that was some incredible thuggery by Matthews on both sides of the play.
  23. The league said that the offsetting penalties were not enforced properly. They were both dead ball fouls and it should have been fourth down. Instead the refs replayed third down and the 49ers scored. Horrible break for the Packers. Yes, I know what the league said. As I referenced in my post that you quoted, I heard Joe Buck go on about it umpteen times. As I also said, the Packers got lucky that Clay Matthews head butted a player and didn't even get a penalty for it. He should have been ejected. Didn't see the head butt. I see two punches thrown right at Staley's head, though. Should get a fine for that, certainly. http://tireball.com/nfl/2013/09/08/clay-matthews-gives-colin-kaepernick-late-hit-punches-49ers-ol/
  24. Giants faking an injury. Cowboys players asking the refs to do....something...about it.
  25. Because they got turnovers at very opportune times...which, granted, has been their MO...but the Bengals were moving the ball at will for the vast majority of the game and the Bears didn't get a sack until a coverage sack late in the 4th. Yeah, it's been a thing with the defense. Do they need the turnovers to succeed? But if so, then how come they just keep getting them? You would think it might even out, but it doesn't happen. *knock on wood*
