  1. Don't forget his awesome free throw shooting. Yeah, and his rebounding and defense too. Obviously the Bulls didn't sign him for the hope that he would put up 20-25 ppg. I'm just pointing out that the guy has a couple big time weaknesses. *shrugs* Worked pretty good for the Pistons on that Championship run. I didn't see anyone complaining about Ben's scoring back then.
  2. Yes, it will be terrible to lose all the scoring we were getting from Chandler. I never said it would be terrible to lose Chandler. In fact, I think its necessary in light of this signing. I am saying I think we overpaid for him. I just want to know where the scoring around the rim is going to come from. Purely perimeter teams rarely go far in the playoffs. Well yeah, hence my comment. Bulls aren't going to keep Wallace and Chandler. They're going to take the big upgrade in Wallace and use Tyson to grab a different type of player. Although, I might like to see Chandler with Big Ben as a mentor for a season. As for Wallace's age, he's 32. That gives him roughly 3-4 years of solid play left. Pretty much perfect, and it matches what we signed him for. This is akin to the Dennis Rodman signing in the mid '90s. Except without the attitude problems. Wallace will dominate the middle. We will have plenty of scoring from elsewhere (already do IMO---I didn't see a "scoring deficiency" from the Bulls last year at all, and we weren't getting any points from Chandler that's for sure). Deal Chandler and we'll have plenty of flexibility for the future. Plus we've got a top 5 pick in next year's draft, even if we make the finals. This is brilliant.

  4. I'm not so sure. I don't think its clear even from the replay that Ronny got the bag with his foot. The point is, players get the call lots of times even if their foot never gets within a 10 inch radius of the bag. That was never the point. I quoted the wrong post  I meant to quote texascub's post about the FSN SW replays. Players might get that call from time to time, but you certainly can't rely on always getting that call. It's called fundamentals; if you get your foot clearly on the bag, you don't even need to worry about which way the call is going to go. Unless you told the Ump to go to a restaurant and the service was really bad.

The point is, players get the call lots of times even if their foot never gets within a 10 inch radius of the bag. Maybe, but as a rule of thumb the close calls always go to the home team. Unless you're the Cardinals.
  6. I'm not so sure. I don't think its clear even from the replay that Ronny got the bag with his foot. OK. WORST CALL IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES.
  7. WORST CALL IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.
  8. Did the Bulls get him or something? yeap. 8) 8)
  9. I know. I was thinking the same thing. This hitting "philosophy." *shakes head*
  10. ESPN reports, Ben Wallace to sign with the Bulls for a reported $52million contract. Wowza Dowza. Pax is serious as a heart attack. Bulls will be making a run in '07!
  11. I agree, but look at the mess we've got. That's not saying much. IMO any serious retooling of this club for '07 would include bringing in some veteran help for two of the 3 holes in our rotation (assuming Maddux is gone).
  12. Im with ya. Gooz still intrigues me though. Maybe so, but I still believe if people are locking Marmol and/or Marshall into this rotation for '07, then they're thinking too small. Nobody knows what will happen with these two. Not saying automatically no, but I haven't seen anything that tells me they should have secured jobs as starters. I'm not saying he should be starting '07 in the rotation, but I just think he's going to be the best of the bunch. Perhaps. He seems awfully Cruz-esque to me right now though. I hope he can learn more control and learn how to pitch.

  14. There's more core players than that, IMO. Lee Barret Aram Cedeno (and if he's not core, some low payroll team would give you something good) Jones (possibly, if you've got a BIG bat in LF) Zambrano And I'd consider Marshall and Marmol to be 2 really good young picthers to go with next year. IMO the positions that need to be addressed are. . . 2B LF CF SP SP If you can successfully get some GOOD guys for those positions to go around the good players we have at the other positions. We don't need no blowup, or firesale. We don't need no stinking blowup. 8) Seriously though, we do need to blow up the front office. It's only going to get worse with MacPhail and Hendry guiding this ship.
  15. And my comment about Neifi being like the coach's kid, which is quoted in Mizzou's sig...for which I say thanks, BTW. It's too bad Dusty doesn't manage to win instead. Yeah I know, he wants to win but man....he really does do some bonehead things. Constantly. Dusty creates an atmosphere that players like. Players are happy and play well and win. His managing has always been week.Teams have won in spite of his managing. His teams expect to win... Until the end of 2004 here... Williamson and Murton don't sound happy to me. Dusty keeps crappy players happy by over playing them, other than that I see nothing that he adds to a team. Now Baker's alienating his players in addition to general crappiness as a manager. So if the "players manager" inspires nothing but hatred from his own players, what do you really have here? If Hendry doesn't watch it, this thing is going to spiral down to Blackhawks levels. Putrid, disgusting, smelly levels of overall badness that fester for decades. Something must be done. The 3 headed monster must be destroyed.
  16. Do I need to? How about I just look at the stats of the core team I listed? What do you know, those look pretty good, outside of a slumping Ramirez and Dempster's recent struggles. The core you listed: Lee, Howry, Eyre, Cedeno, Barrett, Jones, Prior, Marshall Ramirez and Dempster you agreed were struggling. That's 8 out of 25 spots; in other words, 17 out of 25 need to be "tweaked." That's a heck of a tweaking... You forgot Z, and I would also include the other members of the bullpen. IMO the only glaring deficiencies are the bench and the OF. Add a LF that can produce some runs, a frontline starting pitcher and some bench players that can fill in once in awhile and the Cubs are looking alot better. I don't think so. 3B: fine. SS: Cedeno is young yet, but I see him as more of a future bench player than a stud. Deficient. 2B: We all know Walker is gone. Deficient. 1B: fine. C: fine---I'd like to see someone other than Blanco, but fine. LF: Murton is still developing. He may hit eventually but his defense will never be top notch. Barely fine. Barely. I'll give Murt the time to see, keeping in mind with this coaching staff it will likely become a nightmare. CF: We are obviously deficient. RF: Jones won't last. He'll slump again and everyone will be calling for his head. Deficient. Rotation: 1: Zambrano. Keeper 2: Prior. Keeper for '07, but not beyond if he doesn't make his starts. 3: Maddux. Gone. Shouldn't be 3rd starter anyway, but he's done. Deficient 4: Deficient. 5: Deficient. Relief: Closer: Borderline. I'll give Dempster one more year. Middle Relief: Eyre, Howry are O.K. I guess, but Howry seems to struggle more than his rep would say. We still need 1 more guy. Long Relief: nobody of note. Deficient. By my count, we could use 8 players on this team. How are we just a couple tweaks away again? And hasn't Hendry been "tweaking" since 2003? Where has that gotten us again? Glad you're so sure about the future of this team. Not me. Looks pretty bleak from where I'm sitting until we get new management.
  17. The offensive philisophy isn't going to change though. You know that.
  18. My GAWD. They've got the CPatt bunting now too? Oh my God man this entire coaching staff has got to GO. Now!
  19. I'm sure the MacPhail thought police got to him right afterwards. But they can't control US!! Power to the people!
  20. Hendry's really going to pay ARod $27million dollars? I'm having a hard time believing that one. Also having a hard time believing the Yanks would pay ARod to play somewhere else. This seems like a baseless rumor. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno.
  21. I love being a fan of a team heading in the right direction.
  22. They did blow the original 7-2 lead. So really, if you look at it the right way, the blew it again. :?
  23. Looking for a DVD to pop in when the Cubs play every day and pretend it's the live game?
