  1. Seriously, this is like smashing your head against a brick wall 10,000 times.
  2. Sadly, I fear with the sudden, untimely death of Randy Walker, Northwestern will proceed directly into the toilet. Illinois will suck as usual. Wisconsin will likely suffer a fall with the change in coaches. Could be an opening for Iowa in the Big 10 race.
  3. Here's a better idea: keep the players who are decent, and get rid of the morons who don't know how to develop/play them.
  4. He seems like a typical Hendry guy to me. Has some tools, so when he looks good he really looks good. But the baseball skills aren't all that great, and Hendry is just hoping he somehow figures it out on his own because there's nobody in the organization who can teach it to him. This has been Hendry's philosophy all along when it comes to position talent. Grab toolsy guys and then just pray for a miracle.
  5. According to the two idiots Hendry & McF.A.I.L., this isn't even a possibility. I hope that doesn't ruin your 4th of July or the All Star break :P
  6. You know, I could be watching the Cubs' broadcast on CSN right now, but it's just too much fun listening to Hawk whine like the baby that he is. One of these days the Sox will turn back into the Sox and we'll be able to get our kicks every day. Someday soon, hopefully. Nobody deserves a winner less than Hawk.
  7. I'm not sure if Dusty said it, but I'm pretty sure Hendry was the one who said something like, "Pagan has the potential to be a Beltran-like player" or something along those lines. I thought Pagan said it himself? Nah. Hendry's been sucking the juice again.
  8. This is a great day. I've just realized that no matter what happens after I die, I will be in heaven. For being a Cub fan will make hell seem like the pearly gates by comparison. Good Times! 8)
  9. Ahhhh, but silence can say so much. Instead though, Hendry chooses to publicly endorse Baker again and again. And let's not forget it's way past time when most other managers would have gotten the axe. My vote is: Hendry means every word of it. And we're stuck with Baker for the rest of the season, and perhaps beyond.
  10. The '06 Cubs: wallowing in the belly of badness.
  11. The mass sucking continues.... sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and sucking and.....and...................more sucking. God must hate us. Or maybe Satan sent Hendry & Baker to torment us and there's nothing God can do about it!! SAVE US FROM THIS INSANITY!! OH LORDY!
  12. I saw one of those when I went to Wrigley on the last homestand. Between a guy and a girl. Baker not only destroys baseball teams, but also marriages. He kills puppies too.
  13. Read it and weep... http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060627&content_id=1526163&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc It's like banging your head against a brick wall listening to these bozos. And people think *BUSH* doesn't get it?!? Bush has NOTHING on Hendry and Baker.
  14. Sadly, not enough fans remain to boo as this team deserves.
  15. Pwahahaha. yeaaugh. that's the way to play 'em. winning? we don't need no stinkin' winning.
  16. Gammons is great---he's a BoSox fan and he can't help it. He's only doing what every fan would do for their team if they were in his position. And he still knows a ton about the rest of the league. He's a giant in the business of baseball journalism. I hope he gets well very, very soon.
  17. Well---I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on it then. I turn a very skeptical eye to what I consider to be the hysteria of an approaching draft and what it does to players and their value. I'd go with the original ranking, which is based off a much larger body of work---pretty much his entire young career as a player, rather than the spurt, which is based on supposed "enlightenment" which occurs right before a draft. I've seen these things happen quite a bit, and because of my perception on it, I believe Colvin is a huge reach. The articles I quoted earlier are from some folks who I believe are doing the same thing: disregarding the momentary hysteria of the draft in favor of what they consider to be the true, earlier assessment of the player. It's like when you get into a court room with a witness who suddenly changes his/her testimony. Do you just believe the brand new stuff in the heat of the moment? Not me---I tend to go with what was solidified during much, much cooler times. That said, it's about opinions and I really do hope Colvin works out. I don't want anyone to think I'll be rooting against him or something. Far from it.
  18. I don't call this "rooting against the team" though. Realizing changes need to be made and hoping they happen is really just looking out for the best interests of the team. Too bad Hendry and MacFailure can't see it, but that doesn't mean the fans should blindly root for a .500 ballclub and a Dusty extension that would most certainly only extend the misery of the fans. Rooting for the Cubs to lose right now is, in a very tangible way, rooting for the club to ultimately win.
  19. Bob scored a few points with me when he did that. I hope he doesn't stop doing it, when it's called for----and I certainly hope McF.A.I.L. hasn't decided to have a little "talk" with him about it.
