  1. Nirvana only had a couple records of original stuff, right? Going with Cream. Clapton is one of the greatest.
  2. Queen might be the only band in this competition who I would vote for over Led Zep. Queen was monumental. Arguably the greatest ever. There's just no question about that. Look at the volume of work, the diversity of it, the insane talent of the musicians, the sheer number of hit songs--many of them completely different from each other.
  3. I'll give them both credit that they never sold out and stuck around for ages & ages. Going with AC/DC -- just because I think Highway to Hell and Back in Black are both very good records, musical talent or not.
  4. Hate to be a wet sock, but I wouldn't read too much into how a team plays when the games no longer matter. This is like extended spring training now. Not quite----but the games have no real meaning, so the pressure's off...
  5. Doesn't sound like most people are giving up on Ronny...

    Novoa

Hawkins was much better than Novoa. In the middle relief role, yea he was. Novoa throws 97. That's got to be the reason he's still here.
  7. I think Pierre's improved performance less to do with the grass, and more to do with the fact that the games no longer matter.
  8. I was just about to post that it looks like Hendry's stooges got to Rogers when I read this. Agree, agree, agree. This article reeks of Cub influence.
  9. Just listened to A National Acrobat. God I love that song. Actually, the whole Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album.......there's nothing like catching a band right when they are teetering on the edge, ready to implode.
  10. He is a jerk.....but he kicks ass on the 'skins'. Lars Ulrich is not a good drummer. and the Clash is not a good band, so there you have it. plus good drummer or not, lars co-wrote most of their best music Lars' skills have eroded a bit, but for Metallica's earlier work he was considered a fine drummer. I never got the whole Clash thing. I really don't understand it, and to be honest I really don't care, so this was an easy vote for me.
  11. 'Smith would have done much better here if they had stayed gone. Comebacks aren't always the greatest thing... But hey who am I to judge? Tyler & Perry made a buttload of money coming up with pale imitations of their good songs.
  12. Yeah, this is an amusing little thrashing. Mercy rule? 8)
  13. CSN isn't rock. Sabbath shook the earth. Easy choice here. CSN shouldn't be in this tourney-----I like them, but they don't belong here. I promise I'd vote them high in the folk/vocal tunes tourney. They are arguably the best ever there...
  14. Wow, it's a veritable cornucopia of suckage tonight. And to think. It all started when I said "wow they're playing good tonight." :-k
  15. Hmmm....interesting. They play well now that the season's over. Played good the 2 Brewer games I was at too.
  16. Once he took an outside corner fastball for strike 3....he should be booted off the team for that and sent to Oakland or Boston. That ain't no way to play ball. I'd really like to see his walk rate without all the 3-2 inside fastballs that were outside the zone but called strikes. I would too. I would like to see the Cubs trade Pierre or Jones and put Pagan in CF and keep Murton in left. This way the Cubs can see what to do with both Pagan and Murton and get a good read on 2007. Instead, they'll halfast it and we'll go into 2007 with way too many question marks. That, is the Cub way of doing things. Yep. I agree this is what will happen. I don't understand 1) why the Cubs continue to think this is a good philosophy, and 2) where they got the idea in the first place.
  17. HOORAY FOR BASELESS ACCUSATIONS! :w00t: No proof, but he's................suspicious. I know, I know stop the witch hunts!! The site is fun. I didn't realize Dodger fans had such vitriol.
  18. I hate you I hate you I hate you This is equivalent to me as someone being a Cardinals fan in Chi-town. I'm eyeing someone in particular here. If there is a God, the Pack will have to go through a few more years of bad football before being good again-------just like everyone else.
  19. Don't do it on the misery of being a Cub fan. That's not right. Why don't you do it on the history of the Cubs? The history of Wrigley....and Wrigleyville. The renovations to the stadium over the years, etc. And you could do one on all the great broadcasters of the Cubs over the years. Then you could do something on all the Cub hall of famers. Don't give in to the temptation to call yourself "miserable." I still love being a Cub fan. I know they don't win often, but all in all I wouldn't change a thing. The current misery will pass, and believe me, when we do win? No fans feel the joy more than Cub fans. That's my 2 cents, anyway. Do what you want to, of course.
  20. Seattle and Arizona are both better than St. Louis. I don't see the Rams making the playoffs this year. New coach too. Usually takes a year just for the staff to get their bearings.
  21. Fight the Powah! Come on Matty, succeed in spite of this trainwreck.
  22. Errors tell you absolutely *nothing* about defensive ability? Sorry TT, but I disagree. Maybe they don't tell you much about a guy's phyical ability to play defense.....but if you can't make the plays well then-----you can't make the plays. And 14 errors is so many more than many other shortstops. It's not that he's able to get to balls that others can't and they are being called errors. It's that he is just shaky on defense, like yesterday when he airmails a throw to first. Errors don't tell you anything. Sorry to break this to you. Yes they do. I don't care what "conventional wisdom" has developed to say it means nothing. If I've got a guy who continues to airmail the ball into the dugout, or muff easy double-play balls, he's not going to stay in the starting lineup very long. Especially if it starts costing me ballgames. I do agree it would be wrong to just throw Cedeno out because of what's happening only this season, under this incompetent coaching staff. What if his name was Soriano? Then I'd move him to LF 8) ....because he hits. Remember, Ronny isn't hitting, at least for the moment (hopefully he'll improve).
  23. You are correct, sir! An amazing turn around for Mr. Jon. He actually had quite a bit of faith in this group before the season if I remember correctly. Just for the record: I hate being right when I look at the Cubs in ST and think they are going to suck.
  24. Love Barrett to death. One of Hendry's good moves, before he lost his mind.
