  1. It's really depressing. We're already 8 games back, and it really does look out of reach, now. I'm sure most of us have started seeing a Wild Card possibility, because it doesnt look too good in the central.. There's a long way to go yet, but it sure does look like the wild card will be the 2nd place team from the East -- i.e. Mets/Braves, whoever loses that race. Lots can happen though.
  2. It certainly looks like they'll only do well when playing the absolute dregs of baseball. Any other time they'll stink. That's just what it looks like to me right now. It's certainly not very encouraging. I do think there's talent on the roster, but I keep thinking there's so many new pieces this year and there are a few positions that aren't put together all that logically -- it's not a recipe for a real cohesive unit. And that bullpen. Ewwww. What does it take to put together a bullpen that's effective?
  3. I don't know what the Mets/Yanks are doing, but if I were them I'd be smelling injury and waiting to see if that's what's really going on. The arm angle thing is very worrisome. Pitchers might do that for a few reasons -- one of which is because it hurts to throw from the normal arm angle. And I'm pretty darn sure Z is the type who will attempt to pitch with a certain amount of pain. I hope he's not hiding something from the trainers. It's just worrisome, that's all.
  4. I might kill for a laugher divisional crown. Alas, it appears we are not supposed to have anything easy in our baseball lives.
  5. at least Theriot will make the games more fun to watch Then we should play him. I hate Izzy. I just hope no one thinks it will turn anything around, that's all. i have no illusions about that, but i have tickets to alotta games and i would much rather watch Riot than izzy Me too. Not alot of games, but a few and I too would rather see Riot playing and Izzy on the bench, or even just DFA.

  7. Sure looks like they'll run away with it. It also looks like we won't be the 2nd place team for long (if we even still are). We'll probably finish with 75 wins or so, a $115 million junk team. Maybe there'll be hope when we get sold. After all, it's been the new Brewer ownership that really seems to have made the difference.
  8. Play Theriot or not, does it really matter? It's not going to help our wretched bullpen. We're still going to blow game after game with that group of bozos.
  9. So did I. And the sad thing is we should be with the production we are getting from Hill, Lillly, and Marquis. What a waste. When you're the Cubs, even the pythag and other stats mean nothing. It's not reality......it's Cub reality. Nothing normal applies. Hill, Lilly, and Marquis can produce all they want. We'll still suck. Lee & ARam can do whatever they want. Even a positive run differential won't matter. We will just suck, period. Thanks for the great weekend, COBS!
  10. Wow, this is one of those games. Just incredibly bad. Giving back all 6 damn runs. All 6!
  11. He just corrected himself. There's one down.
  12. He's certainly going to be swinging for one.
  13. It would be just our luck to suffer a major injury because of the rain. BTW, HOORAY for other teams hitting season highs against us. That's always fun.
  14. The game thread attackers are back. Howry hasn't given up an earned run since mid April before today, he's far from awful. But he was awful today... BS. I don't care what his line says, Howry's been shaky as hell every time I've seen him this year. Don't give me this crap. You've all been watching the games. Howry barely escapes with his life every time he goes out there. He's total junk. Its not crap, his line is what matters in most cases. He's sucked today, but he's far from terrible. I realize its mostly game thread rantings, but have some perspective. How many runs have scored when Howry's been in the game? Relief pitchers aren't just brought in to make sure they don't give up runs except those already on base, you know. They're expected to hold runners who they inherit, as well. Look, I was just on a game thread a few days back going over this same thing, and Howry was sucking again. The argument was exactly the same. "He sucks today, but he's been good." So how many times does he get to use that excuse? I'd just like to know. Because seriously, every single time I see him he struggles like hell. Every single time.
  15.   Alright, so I'm a little upset right now. Cut me a little slack.

  17. LOL, I went to sleep and it was 7-5. Anyone else getting that nagging feeling this might not be our year?
  18. Eww. Yeah, those NASCAR races probably pull ratings that a reg season baseball game can't dream of.
  19. The TEX/ANA game, yes. Not the Cub game. I'm not sure if Fox has had Gracie doing the Cubs yet.
  20. Here's the scientific, high-brow breakdown: 1) After Utley's HR, we really started to suck big time. Phils led 5-1 2) Then we started not sucking so much. Game tied 5-5 3) God got mad that we stopped sucking. Rain delay.
  21. should be extended like earlier in Pitt? Yeah, I thought we went through this before and the game is suspended under new rules, not 'called' thats what i'm thnking...shouldnt matter what inningBut, this inning wasn't completed. I think this one is different. If we took the lead then it would be contiuned tomorrow, but since it's tied all bets are off. Classic Cubs! Hmmm, off the mlb official site it says: I think that means the game would be suspended, since the game has gone 5 innings so it's now a 'regulation' game. But there's so many rules now I get confused by it all.
