  1. He needs to go to Ohman because Wuertz can't hit the broad side of a barn. Wuertz can handle being pulled just fine. What, are you suggesting he's too fragile emotionally to handle the basic facts of life of a reliever?
  2. To those who wanted Wuertz to stay in on Sunday: Guess this is why he was pulled. He's starting to freaking suck donkey balls.
  3. OMG will you stop sucking please!!!
  4. Now Wuertz is starting to suck. Wonderful.
  5. LOL. This is the Pirates. THE PIRATES!
  6. Have you checked their stats? Yes, but regardless, it always seems like they struggle.
  7. I would pay twice that to avoid having to listen to Al Herbrosky every night. If the Cubs are good, I'll do it. Otherwise, it's just paying for pain.
  8. Well, I guess we just have to go through this to learn. The challenge will be to keep this team together so they CAN learn.
  9. Wow, gettin' schooled again. We're finishing ourselves off. I'm pretty amazed how completely uncompetitive we are. Never thought we'd look like the Bobcats. Losing is one thing, but looking stupid is quite another. I think we definitely belong here. But right now? We look like we don't deserve to be in this series.
  10. i laughed. He's heard "a lot" of rumors? Eh? I have a feeling this guy is the one everyone likes to play games with at work. Gullible. I remember one time at work everyone had this one chump convinced that Ray Finkle really existed. LOL.
  11. YEah, I'm amazed it actually came through, once we went past week 2 I figured they were just stalling to tell us that they couldn't do it... I'm already a "triple play" customer, so I'll get mine for $119...not bad...I know I'm doing it before tomorrow's game so I can watch it....I am SOO happy this got taken care of. I was wondering about that. I already have Digital and HSI with them. Does that mean I get it for $139, or are the $139 and $119 prices only for new "double play" and "triple play" subscribers? I'd about think that we'd HAVE to get the lower price (however, this IS charter)...I can't imagine there are too many out there that would sign up for MLB-EI, who don't already have one or more services from them...I'd be a bit ticked off if I was told it was only for "new customers" I would hope they take a little off the top, but I don't know. Glad the deal eventually got done. I might actually have to order EI now that the Cubs are starting to play some ball. In April it wasn't worth it just to watch us get beat every night.
  12. That's incredible, I hadn't thought of that part. Sheesh, if the Cubs don't sign Z before the end of the year the Yankees will offer him freaking $200 million!
  13. My issue was more with the constant bullpen shuffling. Why does Wuertz get yanked after one batter because he walked him but Eyre stays in after his first batter gets a double? My guess is because Eyre has been used the least. Also, Lou knows that Eyre needs help regaining his confidence and there are only so many blowouts... It's not like Scott Eyre is going to be traded or released; He's going to be a fixture in the 'pen so he has to start pitching better so that the team can benefit from his presence. The scary part is that lefties are hitting him well. I'm on board with the bullpen shuffling being a bit too much, but let's think about it: Last year, Dusty would have had Gooz pitch until his arm fell off because he was doing well. To hell with whether it would hurt him in the long run or not. I'll take some quicker bullpen moves over burning through starter arms at a record pace and building up abuse points like there's no tomorrow.
  14. Gotta play if ya wanna stay.
  15. I need to see something more from the Bulls tonight. Another game like last time is out of the question.
  16. Agreed, but Jones' value may never be higher than it is now and Pie can only get better, IMO, by playing every day. Its not like staying up here would mean be exposed to Dusty, Sarge and Clines. I would agree with this, but call me crazy I think our OF is starting to work with Sori/JJ/Murt. We're just getting on a roll now, I don't want to mess with things. Pie's not going anywhere. Why not send him down to get some AB's? He can be back from Iowa in one day, ready to go.
  17. On what grounds? He's not doing anything against the rules, and as long as someone is willing to sign him on his terms he can get away with it. Being an annoying jack off. Very nice. I don't get why people hate him. Jealousy I guess. Hate is too strong a word. I'd say more like.......irked at him. If you want to play, then great. Be there in Spring Training like everyone else. Just looking at the money, he'll supposedly be making $19million. He'll probably make about 19 starts. That's $1million per start for a guy who doesn't care enough to be there when everyone else is. I'm tired of his act, that's all. I hate very few people, and almost no one who I don't personally know.
  18. That's the scary part. I find it hard to believe they can win serveral games in a row, to even make a run at it. I'm still having a hard time believing that two weeks ago, I was on the same boat, and now I'm pissed because they have another off day. I used to look forward to off days as reprieves from losing. And you may be doing the same again. Nice little run, but let's see if they can sustain it against actual baseball teams. Just as I wasn't writing the season off before, I'm not going to act like anything's been won now. Lots of baseball to be played yet. True. Once the Pirates series is over, the entire rest of May is looking to be a pretty tough schedule, full of decent to good teams, with only one more off day between now and June. I'm just glad I actually enjoy Cubs baseball again, even if it proves to be short-lived. Yes, it really does feel good to be enjoying some baseball again. That April was just terrible. Whatever switch was flipped, let's keep it flipped 8-)
  19. Once I believe, but that's when he really overthrew the batter, walking him during the process, and I believe that's one of the runs came from. IIRC, I think it was 2 outs, bases loaded, and full-count, the fans were standing, cheering, and he overthrew the pitch. Yeah, I saw 99 once. Mostly his heater was in the 96/97 range. Kid did so good I'm giddy 8-) An argument can be made he should have had a shutout, if not for the ump's changing strikezone.
  20. because they aren't? really? because the standings say otherwise. unfortunately, the division winner is determined by the standings and not a position by position >/= contest. the brewers are going to have to completely collapse or suffer some serious injuries for them not to be in contention all season. are you implying that baseball standings after a month and some change is an accurate rating system? that's not like you, dog. I think it's accurate to say they've played better than us so far. Whether that means they are better in the final analysis will depend on what happens to them in July/August/Sept, which has recently been when they pull a fade. I think there's something different about this bunch though. They'll taper off, but I still think they'll at least challenge all year. If the Cubs can keep getting these great pitching performances, hopefully we can match them. Could be a nice little divisional race in the Central that *doesn't* involve the Stros or the Cards. That would be a welcome change, probably for a lot of people, not just Cubs/Brewers fans.
  21. Yeah, I've noticed this as well. This article seems to suggest otherwise, but I've always gotten that impression from Gammons' articles. I get the distinct impression that he's fed misinformation by every GM out there because they know he'll report it. They cover for that by telling him about crap like Rothschild giving him a book. Well, he's one of the few @ ESPN who will actually give the Cubs some positive pub, so I'll take it. He's been in the business so long, ESPN is probably asking to him to pull whatever he wants out of his ass. So he obliges, then cashes his paychek :)
