  1. If you'd rather decrease win expectancy slightly in order to allow the team to conform more closely to archaic and antiquated views about lineup construction, I suppose that's a tradeoff that you can decide whether you'd like to make. Personally, I will root for the team to win, even if it necessitates the employ of unconventional tactics. Me too, but I don't think this would help the Cubs win. At all.
  2. Jones has started to hit lately, and he's shown suprising CF ability -- not great mind you, but he doesn't look lost out there and seems to be getting a good jump on the ball. Love the kid Pie, but I think he needs more seasoning. I think this would be a grave mistake. I rather like Soriano/Jones/Murton in the OF, with Pie preferrably heading back to the minors where he can get more ABs and be called up if an injury happens. It's not an ideal outfield, but I see it as our best option with the glut of OF we currently have. Floyd will have to come off the bench, he's too injury prone. Surely Lou has now figured that out.
  3. That's an insane price to pay for 150 innings. Just think of what they'll be willing to pay for Zambrano.
  4. Uh-oh, Hawaiian punch, hehe.
  5. Wuertz in the past three years: Lefties - .230/.341/.399/.740 Righties - .216/.292/.332/.624 Ohman in the past three years: Lefties - .165/.274/.286/.559 Righties - .239/.349/.369/.718 The numbers surprised me, but there you go. I think Lou doesn't think of Ohman as a LOOGY. He hasn't seemed to use him as one, really. Anyway, I thought the use of the BP was a bit excessive today, but it should have worked anyway, and we have the day off tomorrow. It wasn't something I thought was *very* bad, just a little excessive. Lou seems to do this more than I was aware of. I guess I haven't paid close enough attention to his past.
  6. Bonds isn't playing. Bonds isn't playing, and they just did a 5 minute Barry intro. I think that rises to the level of a
  7. But be honest, did you hear anything about Stanford last season? They were just flat out brutal. I think I remember hearing.......that they were brutal 8-)
  8. Umm, I don't think it takes a genius to figure out that Soriano is willing to play wherever in a pinch, but that's not the same as being willing to be put anywhere permanently.
  9. I still can't make sense of this point of view considering that Eyre came into the 6th and promptly gave up a double on the first batter. He had Wuertz and Ohman warming up at the same time. I'm convinced his plan was to use Wuertz only for a batter or two rather than the entire inning. Howry started warming up when Ohman came in, to boot. I don't think any messages were sent. I think Lou didn't have a plan in the 7th inning. I think you're wrong. His plan just didn't work.
  10. $45 I'm thinking about it but it might not be enough b/c I am in 2nd place and ties go to the lower team - I actually have a few weeks though b/c he has to be added to the 25 man roster 1st. It is nice to see him in the AL. Especially with the run support he'll be getting. I think he made the right decision. Its nice to play for your home team, but it sucks to lose every game 1-0. He made the right decision, agreed. It just sticks in my craw that a player can sit around and do nothing until mid-May, then pick up on whatever the sweetest deal is. Mostly, because I know it would never be the Cubs who got him. Basically the Yankees and/or the Stros get to build their ballclubs knowing they've got an ace in the hole that other clubs don't have. There's something fundamentally unfair about that. I think if Clemens wants to do this in the future, he should have to clear waivers.
  11. It's certainly nice to be able to plunk Sori in as an IF in a pinch, though it shouldn't happen more than a couple times all year.
  12. Lou's talking up Guzman right now. Good for him! Great performance by Gooz today. Kinda getting lost in all the late-inning drama.
  13. Ward with the creme pie treatment
  14. Ahhh, the sweet value of having more than Neifi and Macias on the bench :P :P :P
  15. For once, please a damn fly ball to win this thing.
  16. 17.36 ERA. Don't even tell me *this* bozo can punk us too.
  17. This guy isn't near the strike zone. Please make him pitch.
  18. Wow, just went out and mowed the lawn never expected to come back in and still see the Cub game on
  19. Crap. Not lookin' good now grasshoppers.
  20. Brewers just took the lead 5-4. Oh happy day!
