  1. Another run, good Lord make it stop!!
  2. And give the ball to who? Eyre and Howry? Yeah, they'll keep us in the game. Someone, anyone.
  3. That would have been long gone if it was just given a little more lift. Lilly is just a punching bag tonight, wow.
  4. Pie making it tougher than it has to be, still gets the job done.
  5. Floyd is really a sprinter, he just fakes leg injuries because it keeps the media off his back about stealing bases and well, it's nice to get vacations during the middle of the season.
  6. Dude, even the foul balls look like haymakers. Stop sucking Ted! Crap, another full count.
  7. Crapolia another damn HR!!
  8. Wow Lilly struggling in massive fashion tonight. I hope this doesn't continue for a bunch of starts.
  9. Looks like they pretty much met in the middle, with perhaps KC getting a decent deal if the pick escalates. On a side note, KC is giving an unproven QB the starting job cold. This would send shockwaves through the media if it happened in Chicago, and would probably result in Lovie receiving death threats. But in KC -- not much controversy at all. Different cities have very different takes on what should happen with their football teams.
  10. way to do your homework, Cubs  “It was honestly the darkest point in my life,” Clanton says, his voice filled with emotion, cracking in spots. “Jim Hendry once quoted to me, ‘This [organization] is not a democracy. It is a dictatorship. You shut the f--k up.’ Not only is this f*cked up, but could anyone else picture Hendry spitting food out of his mouth while he says this? I'm not sure that one can so easily trust Clanton's version of events. even if this version is correct, I don't know why someone would have a problem with it. it should be in large part a dictatorship. Believe it or not, I agree. It should be. I can see Hendry saying the first two sentences. I'll bet that last one, with Jim swearing, was added later, either in Clanton's mind or because he was upset. Darkest days of your life? You're young, drafted by the Cubs, playing baseball every day instead of working like a dog like the rest of the world. That just seems a little ridiculous on the face of it.
  11. I try to be open minded, but I just can't handle that. Do they make you cry? No, not cry. I don't want to say what they make me want to do because it will just open me up to more flames and condemnation.
  12. Speaking of the Mets, if the Cubs were to trade Zambrano to the Mets by the trading deadline, what would be considered a fair deal? Milledge, Pelfrey and Heilman. The Mets could have had Zito for Milledge last year, and didn't do it. I doubt they'd do that deal for Z, especially with him struggling this much. Z's price is dropping with each terrible outing, and with each episode where he acts like a 2 year old.
  13. Vance, what hotel did you stay at? I lived on Clark, just south of Belmont, in a dumpy apt for a year, and my roommates and I easily witnessed a couple of tranny brawls when walking home from the wrigleyville bars. I'm assuming you stayed somewhere near there. Always an adventure. And now for the obligatory ... "not that there's anything wrong with that." but ... yeah. too close for viewing. I was at the City Suites on the 900 block of Belmont. Nice hotel, but the freaks come out a night. Yeah, that's a situation where if you look puzzled or taken aback by some of the 'evening regulars' over there and they ask you if the scene is 'too real' for you, you simply nod and say yes, then move on. It wasn't too bad. I did enjoy being that close to all the bars. It's just when I came back to the hotel each night, I felt someone should cue "Dude Looks Like a Lady." I try to be open minded, but I just can't handle that.
  14. I have no reason to disagree. However, I don't subscribe to the "injuries are just accidental" school of thought. Some organizations suffer more injuries on the whole than others. It's not totally a matter of chance, IMO.
  15. I see nothing but wasted potential after wasted potential with those picks. Gentlemen, something is seriously wrong with our developmental system. It's not just the draft, it's what we aren't doing afterwards.
  16. I sort of like Trammel. Whether he should be made manager though, that's a different story. I'd need to see alot more, and Lou's coming back this week.
  17. With Neifi you can't go by the stats.
  18. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) Never has there been an emote that so perfectly displays how I feel as a Cub fan.
  19. Yes, I've been wondering when the Cubs will move on and this looks like it's finally happening. Hard to get worked up over this one. The guy can't stay healthy and pitch to save his career, and this simply looks like the Cubs just want to do right by him and let him finish out his time here with dignity. The last time I saw Mark Prior pitch his fastball was worse than most high schoolers and his breaking pitch was more likely to hit 2 feet before the plate that it was to fool any hitters. If there's reason to think he's going to come back to his former self, I certainly haven't heard it. Let's finish our time with him on a good note, rather than breaking it off with angst and bad feelings.
  20. I find it amazing that an otherwise well-run, talented, hard-working organization like the Detroit Tigers would fail to see what Neifi is from the get go. But hey -- I guess everyone gets sucked in by the old "gritty veteran" tag. Even World Series calibre clubs.
  21. i heard on espn radio today that the fat bastard was told by the third base ump that lou kicked him and he relayed that on to mlb. in an interview with lou before the game he was specifically asked by the media if he kicked him, so i think that's the contact in question Yes, the Atlanta broadcasters today were talking about the kick to the leg by Lou and they showed a replay that showed Lou's foot making contact with the 3rd base umpires pant leg on the first dirt kick. It was a very slight kick if it even went through the pants to his leg. At worst he barely tapped him and it's pretty obvious that it was NOT intentional. I have to think since they suspended him right away that he's going to get more than one game. I'm guessing that it will either be 3 or 5 games which is complete BS. It's BS he got one. So how many games does Froeming get suspended for. He actually pushed him. :x None. This is a one-way street. Umps get to act like complete buffoons any time they want and everyone else has to just sit and take it. Let Lou vent after 2 months of horrid baseball though? Oh WOW! Hey! You can't do that!!! Suspension!! Yet another double-standard in this game that we could do without.
