  1. Yeah. I dislike Berkman though. He just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.
  2. Actually I thought the interview was pretty good. I didn't hear all of it, but there was a part where they asked him if he thinks about retiring and Kerry's response was, in my opinion, very thoughtful. He says he thinks about retiring every day. But he finds a reason not to every time. He mentioned his son, how he doesn't want to show him that he's a quitter. It was touching, for lack of a better word.
  3. I know it. They are similar though. The biggest advantage I see with Pie is his swing doesn't look as long and loopy to me as CPatt's. I always thought that swing (which he still has, from what I've seen) really limited how good a hitter Corey could be over the long haul.
  4. $50 bucks it better be one heck of a breakfast buffet 8-)
  5. He's a damn good bat, and from my perspective he's 10 million times better than most of the bozos we trotted out to play 3B over the past 30 years. Nurse his legs, keep him fresh any way you can.
  6. What the hell?!? No way, if they let him off with nothing I'll be pissed. How is this different from when Bobby Valentine got kicked out but returned to the dugout in cognito? Didn't he get a few games suspension for that? This is the identical same thing, no question about it.
  7. Supposedly Guzman to the DL. Guzman couldn't stay healthy as a BP arm. I like the kid, but no way was he going to last as our permanent 5th starter. Unfortunately, I'm bracing for Marshall's return to earth which would seem to be inevitable.
  8. To read some of those quotes is angering to me also. Nobody was telling Wood his mechanics were poor? I feel comfortable in saying the entirety of Cub nation was saying that, from the beginning. Not one coach ever suggested he clean up his delivery for health's sake? That's incredible, horrifying, angering, desparing to me. That means basically everyone on the planet *EXCEPT* those who had Kerry's ear saw this coming. And Dusty -- he racked up some of the highest abuse points in the league for his franchise guys. That doesn't have anything to do with it, especially given the relatively young age of a guy like Prior? Ridiculous, IMHO.
  9. Yeah, that touches on what a few of us have been theorizing might be happening with Z.
  10. I was expecting 8, but I was holding out hope that Tank already serving jail time and being let out early for good behavior would knock it down to 4. Tank does seem to be saying all the right things, but when PacMan got a whole season, I didn't see Tank getting less than six or seven and expected 8-10. I hoped for less, but thought it would be 8 games for awhile. The thing about this 'deal' is, if he doesn't behave it won't really revert to 8 games instead of 6. It'll mean he's done something bad again, which will really mean more games, probably the rest of the season. So really, I'm looking at as a 6 game suspension, which would probably turn into an entire season if he screws up.
  11. Good point about the games being on natty tv. Yeah, I also feel like Grossman's good performances last year are being ignored. The kid had some amazing games, best I've seen a Bear QB have certainly since Kramer in his great season. That was what, 12 years earlier? That first Seattle game really sticks out for me, but there were others. I remember being at the Buffalo game and he could almost do no wrong. Very atypical for a Bear QB.
  12. Not fair: Brant Brown shouldn't make this list just because he made one error that cost us a game in a year we still made the playoffs anyway. I went Neifi. The pre-'06 picture of him in his lazy clothes right after signing his ridiculous deal, with that horrible grin on his face....that's the clincher for me.
  13. i don't understand why people love z for stuff like this. Because he doesn't follow the "book" on what to say to the media, or how to act in general. It's endearing.....to a point. When he starts freaking out during games because he's sucking? That's when it loses its charm for me.
  14. No manager is going to pinch hit for his starting SS in the 4th inning, regardless of the situation. Earl Weaver pinch hit for Mark Belanger in the first once, IIRC. At any rate, how about the 6th inning down by three with a runner on second? Mind you, DeRosa is on the bench, and Theriot can move over to SS. For that matter, why is Izzy even in the freaking lineup? Isn't Lou still making out the lineups before the game? Anyway, are we now going to hound each and every decision a manager makes, waiting to play the "he sucks" card when we find one that isn't the absolute statistically perfect move? Did I say he sucks? I said the honeymoon was over. Compared to the other managers, Trammel did just fine... though the bar is set pretty low for that. Maybe we would be better off avoiding the honeymoon altogether then.
  15. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070605cubsbits,1,6051457.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Is this an editorial? Because Sullivan's editorializing quite a bit here: "This could lead to Zambrano overthrowing in an attempt to make a point," and later "Barrett risked injuring himself and others by venturing out where he doesn't really belong." These are Sullivan's opinions, but aren't stated as such and the article is written in "news-update" format, not editorial format.

  17. Can't take him out. Really no choice tonight, need innings from Lilly come what may.
  18. Can't we just bring Lee back up here? To hell with the damn rules. 8-)
  19. Up to the Riot. Prolly would need to score at least one more here or game over.
  20. Brenly mentions the lack of BP action.
  21. Gonna make Lilly eat innings, no matter what. Not going to waste a BP arm for a couple days on a lost cause.
