  1. The zone read with Webb and Peterson could be a lot of fun to watch. Not much else for Minnesota offensively will be, though.
  2. Yes, but there is the much bigger chance that you just wasted your money on a lottery ticket. We have the free money to spend, though. Even if we make all the moves people (realistically) want to see, I don't think we'll be that close to our payroll limit.
  3. Why would he want to go to Cleveland? I didn't watch a lot of their games this year but they weren't that bad. Yeah, they've got a decent amount of talent and now an owner serious about doing what it takes to win. It's not one of the better jobs out there, but it has the potential to be.
  4. Yea, I hate most of the teams in the SEC. I rooted against SC, Florida and Vandy. I only rooted for Georgia because I like Mark Richt. And I'll root for ND in the BCS title game.
  5. Well, that answers my question. Great hire by the Chiefs.
  6. @AdamSchefter Andy Reid did not fly to Arizona last night as scheduled. Interesting. Wonder if it's because the meeting took longer than expected and it was too late to fly out or if he's about to be hired in KC?
  7. I fhink the SEC has been pretty dominant in recent seasons, but as with any reputation, people are slow to catch up to current reality. The SEC isn't considerably better than any other conferences this year. And watching Florida get hammered by a Big East team made my day. I loved it.
  8. I don't think he's in the best ever conversation yet.
  9. Hm, I'm not sure I'd consider a guy who developed some pretty good QBs and one elite QB as a shoe-in to be great at developing guys. In all honesty, I'm not sure there's much difference between Clements and McCoy. I like both, but both have real questions too.
  10. I think the first part of your post kind of negates the second part. You're correct that he was the #1 pick in the draft and is an extremely talented player. But those facts make it harder to argue that he has some "special gene" or something that mysteriously help him to win games. He's just a really talented football player with some underrated talent around him (as mentioned before: Reggie Wayne and TY Hilton) that makes it possible for him to show his talent. Ultimately, football is a team game and without the rest of the team performing at the level they have, Luck would be where Peyton Manning was in his first NFL seasons - an extremely talented rookie QB on a team with a 3-13 record. No one player wins games in the NFL - teams put players in positions to make great plays and the great players make those players. Without both sides working in unison, it doesn't work.
  11. Saban? The results definitely weren't there, but I think there's a real chance it was largely because he and the Dolphins GM at the time weren't on the same page in bringing in his type of players. Were I a Cleveland fan, I'd be pretty uncomfortable giving him the kind of contract that's been rumored, but I'm not sure there's enough data to definitely say he sucks as an NFL coach.
  12. Who has Clements developed other than Rodgers? Serious question, I honestly don't know who else he's developed. He's clearly done a very good job with Rodgers, but if he's it, I'm not sure I'd assume Clements can develop any QB. That said, I'm not sure Cutler needs development as much as he needs an offensive line - get him that and he'll probably immediately become 10x better.
  13. I'm incredibly intrigued by the idea of Chip Kelly in the NFL. I'd be curious to see how much he changes his offensive style or, if he doesn't change it much, if his high-speed spread option style can work in the NFL. I also wouldn't completely discount the idea of Saban to Cleveland. Saban has shown he has no problems moving around and if Cleveland offers enough money (the $10 mil/year number is impressive) and gives him a like-minded GM (Lombardi?), I could see him considering the jump. As to why he'd leave a cushy situation like Alabama: the challenge. Like any really good coach, he's a proud man who probably feels he can succeed in the right situation in the NFL. Having another Belichick-type guy as his GM might give him that assurance. I'm not saying it's happen by any means, just that it's not quite as silly an idea as it seems on its face.
  14. If we add all three of them then Theo will have proven to us all how amazing he is and why none of us should have ever doubted him.
  15. Mike Holmgren said he will "listen" if any team has interest in hiring him as head coach. Just keep him away from any personnel decisions and it'd be a great move for any of the teams searching for a coach.
  16. Against a pretty bad defense. Where was Barkley? Wittek looked lost (and apparently was with the 3 picks). Couldn't believe MB didn't have some words of advice. I expected him to be in Wittek's ear every time he walked off the field. Every time they showed Barkley, he was just standing around kind of staring off into space.
  17. Against a pretty bad defense.
  18. One of those worse coaches is employed in Nashville. I'd love to have Lovie or Reid over Munchak.
  19. I doubt this is recorded, but I wonder what the record number of firings on Black Monday is.
  20. Yep, but GM Mike Reinfeldt will be fired. I don't understand firing Reinfeldt and not Munchak, except that Munchak is one of Bud's favorite players. Maybe he'll get the 1 year "Lovie" grace period. I have no idea at this point. I think Bud just can't stand to fire him, which is awful because he's not a very good head coach.
  21. Is one of those the Tennessee Titans? The Vols job is so good, it's like an NFL job. #AAFOOTBALL Better than an NFL job. So much so that it was beneath us to hire Gruden.
  22. Yep, but GM Mike Reinfeldt will be fired. I don't understand firing Reinfeldt and not Munchak, except that Munchak is one of Bud's favorite players.
  23. Titans beat writers think Munchak will be back next year and that Jerry Gray will return as DC. Looks like we'll have another who at getting the top 5 draft pick that eluded us this year.
  24. Darius Reynaud had 2 punt returns for TDs, Zach Brown had a pick six, and I don't remember what the other TD was. The Jags were laughably bad in that game (and the Titans weren't very good either). That game was fun, but the outcome sucked since Tennessee is likely out of the top 10 now. Two pick 6's for Zach Brown Thanks. Was just listening on the radio so I couldn't remember what the other play was.
