  1. Rex Ryan
  2. Another source that the draft will occur either way:
  3. PFT and Rich McKay:
  4. The draft will happen as scheduled but the contracts won't be signed until a new CBA is agreed to. Thus, the rookie cap would be in effect for the 2011 draftees. Andrew Brandt:
  5. What I heard was that the CBA ends then, but they'll still finish up the 2010 NFL league season, which includes the draft. Couldn't find anything about it on NFL.com, but here's an excerpt from a Yahoo article from September.
  6. But if they're losing when the clock runs out, they shouldn't get another 15 minutes to try to score. If they tie the game as the clock runs out and then they put another 15 minutes on that's fine (and the only option), but if the Steelers have the ball, are trailing, and the clock runs out, the game should be over. I don't disagree with you. I was just answering the question that was posed. Ah, I see. I thought the comment was directed at me.
  7. Schefter reporting Hasselbeck will start for Seattle.

  9. Teams probably won't have nearly the incentive to trade down now. The return would be much smaller.
  10. If Carolina still takes a QB they're run by GD morons Yeah, as I was typing that it hit me they probably wouldn't take a QB now. That's why I added the last line.
  11. The #2 choice after Moffitt. S&C has gone to [expletive] at Texas over the past 2 years. The new S&C coach will be the fifth in three years (2008-2010) at Tennessee. I was really hoping to avoid turnover this offseason.
  12. Well crap. The Titans had no chance at Luck obviously, but Luck being in the draft could push every other QB down a notch if the Panthers still take a QB. If they don't, then this has no effect on the Titans.
  13. Well there's likely a lockout before the draft anyway, so even if came out, the rookie pay scale could still hurt him, right? The lockout would start immediately after the draft, so the players would be selected but contracts wouldn't be negotiated until after the lockout ended is my understanding. If I'm right, then the rookie contracts would be subject to the new CBA.
  14. What's the point of a clock then? Why have it timed at all? Not sure, it's kind of pointless, aside from each team getting an additional timeout after the first OT. Yeah I hadn't heard that. It's kind of a dumb rule.
  15. UT strength and conditioning coach Bennie Wylie reportedly heads to Texas. Crap.
  16. I'm ok with them trading Lee, but if they do, I'd like to see it in a better trade than him as one of four pieces to get Garza.
  17. It all depends on what the market is. I mean if you're talking about a 1 year $3M flyer, I'd love the Vikings to take a shot at it and see if he can wake up and stop being a [expletive]. I highly doubt that will ever happen but it's worth a shot at that price. With that post I wasn't really talking about standard procedures. VY strikes me as a player Al Davis would love and is a guy I could see him going after even if it doesn't make sense to. As for where VY actually ends up, I think it does depend on his cost and what he's willing to do. If he insists on being a starter, his options are very limited and he takes the chance that nobody signs him until close to the start of the season. If he's willing to work as a backup and rebuild his value that way, he probably gets a job pretty quickly on a 1-year deal.
  18. I think the rules are pretty clear cut. There is one scenario I thought about where it can cause confusion though: Say Aaron Rodgers throws an INT to Brian Dawkins in the first possession of OT. Dawkins tries to return it but then fumbles and the Packers recover. The Packers eventually kick a FG. Is the game over? I'm pretty sure, yes. It may not happen at all, but an onside kick to begin OT may cause confusion as well. I heard if a team opens OT by recovering its own onside kick, a FG can win the game because the other team had an opportunity to take possession.
  19. Exactly. If Michigan were in a position talent-wise where a new coach could win 9-10 games next year, ignoring the "Michigan man" calls wouldn't be much of an issue. However, with a rebuilding process almost assured, fans/boosters will be much more patient with a "Michigan man" than they would be otherwise.
  20. If the new coach isn't a "Michigan man" and comes in and wins 10 games next year, I'll give you that's probably true. But it's also extremely unlikely to nearly impossible. By hiring a "Michigan man," Brandon will buy the new coach some time to struggle early (which will happen) while he readjusts the system to a pro-style offense and either a 4-3 or 3-4 base defense. If the boosters really want a "Michigan man" and Brandon doesn't deliver one, the leash will be much, much shorter. I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet that if RichRod had strong Michigan roots and was considered a "Michigan man," he would still be employed at Michigan now. By abiding the wishes of the boosters (if that is their wish), Brandon buys himself and his new coach time to rebuild the program. If he targets the best choice regardless of his Michigan roots, that guy better win big soon.
  21. If Fisher stays in Nashville, I don't see much of a chance Munchak goes anywhere. The Texans wanted to interview him for the OC opening last year and the Titans wouldn't allow him to interview. I doubt they'd give him permission to interview at PSU, especially for anything other than the HC job. You bring up the very reason for my inclusion of the whole "being lucky" bit. Ah, I see now.
  22. That was a pretty horrid Vandy team last year, though. They lost by 19 and 21 to mediocre UConn and Wake Forest teams. Only one of their losses was by less than two scores (Northwestern), though the Tennessee game was within a score most of the time. They did demolish Eastern Michigan, though, so I may have exaggerated some on how many MAC games they'd have won last year.
  23. I'd be stunned if they were able to trade him. With the declaration that he's gone either way, a team isn't going to give up a pick to ensure the Titans part with him. The only positive to trading for him is the security to know you've got him while you work out contract details. I don't think that will be enough, though, for a QB who may not even be a starter. I fully expect he'll be cut unless a team really thinks it can fix him.

  25. I don't think Hoke would be a bad hire at all, but the question with him is resume. He's been very good for a little while, but is still somewhat of an unknown. He definitely wouldn't be one to excite the fan base and the biggest question would be can he win at the BCS level.
