  1. It'd be great for them if they gave Clausen a full year, discovered he can be a good to very good NFL quarterback and then are able to trade the 1st pick in a year with Luck available and a rookie cap in place. They could get a ridiculous haul at that point. Two seasons in a row with a team that is bad enough to get the first draft pick...that sounds like a real hoot. The end result would be the positive, not the process. But as TT pointed out, my theory has holes in it.
  2. That's a good point. I was thinking the rest of the team could be bad enough to get the first pick, but if the rest of the team is that bad, Clausen wouldn't look as good.

  4. They just said on ESPN's First Take that Joe Schad is reporting RichRod is officially out.
  5. The only part of the trade I dislike is giving up Lee. I understand his trade value is at its highest now, but if the peak of his trade value is one of four top 20 pieces for Garza, I'd rather keep him and see what he becomes, I think.
  6. I know. It's close, but feels like this has been going on for a couple of months.
  7. Never heard of Bo Davis. Manny Diaz really turned the Mississippi State defense around last year and was the driving force behind a really good (for the Sun Belt) MTSU defense before that. I've been hearing the potential for head coaching jobs in his near future and it seems he's regarded much like Justin Wilcox was at Boise State (now at Tennessee). A young, bright defensive coach with a head coaching future. Interesting stats: MTSU defense in 2009 (w/Diaz) – 23 PPG, 351.6 YPG MTSU defense in 2010 (no Diaz) – 27.5 PPG, 384.4 YPG Miss St defense in 2009 (no Diaz) – 26.8 PPG, 366.0 YPG Miss St defense in 2010 (w/Diaz) – 20.3 PPG, 358.1 YPG
  8. It was a local program that cited a source, but I didn't hear who. It may have been taken out of context or assuming, I don't know, but it sounds like it was wrong anyway.
  9. Schefter changing his mind on Marvin Lewis:
  10. If they love Luck, no. If they really love Tebow and just like Luck, probably.
  11. It's not ideal, but I just don't see how you can possibly pass up a talent like Luck, especially if a new CBA is reached and Carolina doesn't have to pay him 50M or so guaranteed. You pass on Luck by trading down for the biggest package of players you can get. And if Luck turns into the next Peyton Manning? Feel free to tell me "I told you so". I don't know that he will, that's a lofty expectation, but if their scouts believe in him that much, I see no problem in taking him despite Clausen's presence. You can always trade Clausen and recoup some of the value you put into him.

  13. Just heard on the radio that the Vikings signed Rhett Bomar to a three year deal and promised him a shot at the starting job. I liked Bomar since he was at OU, but if accurate, that's a little crazy.
  14. Sounds about like what I thought. He's a quarterback I could definitely see Fisher targeting in the draft if he stays and Vince goes. The iffy decision making at times is the only thing that makes me wonder if a Fisher-led Titans would go after him. Thanks.
  15. But then again:
  16. Schefter tweet on Harbaugh: And for soccer10k: Also, nothing terribly new on the Titans front, but it's interesting that it's been put bluntly to Bud: Looking more and more likely Fisher will bolt.
  17. Can any Missouri fans tell me a bit about Gabbert? Should Fisher stay (still pretty doubtful), Gabbert's a guy I could see us targeting if he is what I think he is.
  18. I feel for the broadcaster who, on back to back plays, has to say Ndamukong and Amukamara. Those are a couple of awesome names, though.
  19. Diaz would be an excellent hire. He did wonders at Mississippi State this year.
  20. The Nomar deal took a month, if not more... the Harden deal was talked about for a couple weeks. It feels like it's been longer than a month that this deal has been discussed.
  21. Matt Clement completely sucked for 3 seasons  Dontrelle was a overhyped player save for 2005. You could make a decent arguement that the Cubs won that deal. I don't think there's much of an argument the Cubs won that trade. I don't think that's what CubsWin's point was, though. Even if the Cubs won that trade, Willis was still a good pitcher for a couple of years.
  22. It's too much for a 31 year old Beltre, but the positive about him is that his excellent defense shouldn't fall off a cliff as he ages. A lot of his value should age well, I would think.
  23. The Colts aren't all that good this year, but like you said, the Jets aren't either. I like the Colts primarily because I don't think the Rex Ryan defense, built on confusing the QB, will be successful enough. The Jets need a low scoring game and I think the Colts will be able to turn it into a high scoring game.
  24. I think Orton is pretty much the definition of a system QB. He did well in McDaniels' system, but I don't think he's more than an average starter for most teams. He's a smart QB who makes good decisions on the field, but without top-end physical skills. McDaniels' system calls for short, quick passes and smart decisions - what Orton excels at. I don't think a team would give a second round pick for him, but if they do, they're overpaying.
  25. Definitely an oddity. You have a connection to Jacksonville, or just fall for them when they entered the league? They're my favorite AFC team too but that's because of Maurice Jones-Drew and Marcedes Lewis. I figured it was more because you figured they were moving out to your neck of the woods and you wanted to get a head start on being a fan.
