  8. Why should they, it'll always be known as Wrigley. Free advertising for so long, I can't blame them.
  9. I believe the odds favor democratic affiliation even more so if you're located in the city of Chicago. I lived in northern Lake County (IL) from 1970 to 1996, and if I remember correctly, it was mostly a republican county. It'll be interesting, Lake Cty. voted for Bush in '04, I think it was 51-49 in favor of him. We'll see how it plays out on Super Tuesday. I'm hoping for record democratic turnouts. plus, my math was way off as far as Kerry/Bush, it was 55-45 in favor of Kerry.
  10. Is this going to be done before baseball season starts? Time for me starts to get restricted around then.
  11. That's a long time to look forward. It's a win/win either way.
  12. Regardless of age, if you're from the Chicagoland area, odds are you're a democrat. With the voting percentage for Kerry in '04, I believe it was over 80/20 in favor of Kerry.
  13. Good call on Favre and the cold. :) He had a bad game, like Chicago, I'm sure that weather played a key role. I was more right about the running game. It came down to the running game, the Giants were able to attack on the ground and in the air and GB had to throw it in bad conditions against a D-Line with their ears pinned back.
  14. It's nice to finally see the two teams I rooted for today actually win.
  15. Congrats to the Giants, they avoided shooitng themsleves in the foot and deserve to represent the NFC. Good luck and you'll need it. I doubt Favre will retire now, no one wants to go out with that final series.
  16. It shows good faith to Troy and a commitment to the rest of the players.
  17. Background: Previously a third baseman, Donaldson started catching as a sophomore at Auburn in 2006. The position shift and a strong summer in the Cape Cod League sent his draft stock skyrocketing, and he went 48th overall in June. After signing for $652,500, he rated as the short-season Northwest League's top position prospect and led the circuit with a .470 on-base percentage. Strengths: Donaldson provides more offense and athleticism than most catchers. He's aggressive and looks to pull pitches for power early in counts, but he also adjusts when pitchers get ahead of him, shortening his stroke and using the opposite field. He controls the strike zone and projects as a .280 hitter with 15-20 homers per season. He has slightly above-average arm strength and threw out 38 percent of basestealers in his pro debut. His speed is average. Weaknesses: His inexperience shows behind the plate, though the Cubs believe he'll become a solid defender in time. He committed 11 passed balls in 45 games and sometimes hurried his release and undermined his arm strength. He made progress in both areas during the summer. The Future: Chicago has built up its catching depth, so it may take things slow with Donaldson and let him concentrate o his work behind the plate. He'll probably open 2008 in low Class A.
  18. It could be anything as to why he is struggling with wood, the sweet spot of a wood bat is half of an aluminum bat, so there's a small margin of error. You're only as strong as your weakest link. His load could make him late to the ball, he might have a bad trigger to start his swing, he might stride too far, he might not stay back well and become a front foot hitter. His bat path could be long and uppercut, he might not use his lower body well enough which limits his power. If you're speaking of someone in general, I would say lack of bat speed, but if you're talking about someone with the talent of Russell, I would say bat path. With Russell, how much power are you willing to lose at the expense of greater contact? Some team is going to find out.
  19. Congrats to Gallagher, there was some concerns about his weight and he's shown the work ethic to eliminate them. As I mentioned in a diff. thread, hopefully that hard work gets rewarded this Spring into Summer.
  20. Friedrich in action: http://www.capeprospects.com/media/friedrich_christian.wmv
  21. I'm sure he has a foul mouth, majority of baseball does. That's different than speaking to a group of people and bashing players, I've seen him one on one and I've seen him speak to a group of people and from what I've gathered, he would not say those things about players. I could get him with a picture of him in a hotel lobby, hell I sat next to him at the lounge in the Hotel Nikko in SF after the come from behind win last Summer.
  22. I don't buy it either, that's not his personality.
  23. At least Ott didn't drop his hands when he swung.
