While Greene has a larger uppercut swing than most, including Theriot, Theriot will likely never be a .300 hitter given his slow bat and desire to put the bal into play rather than drive the ball. Despite the season Greene last year, the difference of his more aggressive apporach as far as swing and misses isn't as costly as the improved defense he brings compared to Theriot as well as the added pop.

BA: http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=455 Pie: http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=11427 They're diff. players. Pie will likely hit for a higher avg., Anderson will hit for more pop, both are good defensively in CF (heck, that's why Anderson stuck around for so long in '06), Pie has more range and a better arm, but both are above avg. defensively. Anderson needs a new situation, that doghouse (which is his fault) isn't one he can get out of on the South Side. He still has to learn how to hit good breaking balls from RH'ers but he has tools to do so, just has to show if he has the desire to rather than the perception of a 1st round prima-donna.

If Figgins had the career numbers that would indicate he could consistently come close to what he did last year, I think there would be a valid case. He's more likely to fall back to his previous years than what he did last year. Given what it might take to get Figgins or sign Lofton, I'd rather see Kenny and would love to see how him Lou get along.

Arguing over which marginal player is less fringy is pointless, neither are or will likely be worthy of a starting position in their careers. Even though Theriot has less range than Cedeno b/c he plays a couple steps in b/c of the weak arm, he is less likely to hurt the team defensively b/c of the accuracy and better hands. I'm all for letting them battle it out from Feb. till April in Mesa, but if I was to guess, Cedeno b/c of that poor defense will end up as a utility guy with Theriot starting and the Cubs will need to insert and new body at SS to maximize their potential.

Game outside. It'll prob. be in the mid to upper 40s, I've been in worse.

I have 3 weeks till I get to rock and roll, I'm not much of an indoor fan whether it be hitting drills or showcases.

Why is everyone getting excited about the P's and C's reporting, typically fluff newspaper articles and 2 minute segments on the evening news isn't enough to ease the pain of no baseball. That's assuming you're not in Mesa for it, if you are, you have my envy.
