  1. I would put not acting like a drunken clown at the top of my list.
  2. Former UIC and current Volunteer, Steve Crnkovich is now 4-0 for UT. http://livestats.epiccycle.com/tennessee/boxscores/07-08/baseball/teamcume.htm That kid can pitch.
  3. http://otherfifteen.blogspot.com/2008/03/does-soriano-hit-better-with-bases.html A good article on Soriano hitting leadoff from a very solid Cubs blog.
  4. UK matches up ok with Marquette, it's going to be a battle of backcourts, which helps out UK. UM will still be favored, but given how UK played early on and how they finished, it's still a disappointing season and how well Patterson played before he got hurt as well as a strong class, I'm optimistic another year under Gillespie that they are on the right track.
  5. He's a good to great college player. He's going to get abused in the pros.
  6. They have a declining Matsui, Damon, Pettitte, & Rivera, you mentioned FAs leaving although losing Mussina will be a positive. Then, there will be that point when Jeter and Rodriguez start to decline, Jeter will be 35 at the start of '09. While they'll still be good, any regression combined with those losses is going to lead to a drop in runs. How much better are Cano and Cabrera going to be? Shelley Duncan is a below avg. 1B/DH type of guy. FA just isn't as strong of an option as it used to be to retool a team. While '09 is still a long ways away and NY definitely has the advantage to get better quicker thru spending money and more willing to add pieces thru top prospects, at this point, they will likely score a similar amount of runs in '09, TB's rotation will likely be better, IMO, and both pens will be below avg.
  7. Well, they play again today... Here is a fun article from NY, especially comments from Hank Steinbrenner: http://www.nypost.com/seven/03152008/sports/yankees/hank__were_not_going_to_take_it_102070.htm?page=1 He's going to be fun to watch when TB has a better record than the Yankees in '09.
  8. It's complete BS UK or UGA have to play 2 games in the same day. UGA is fighting for their lives here, win or they're done. UK is playing for positioning & they have to get out of that 8/9 spot for any shot at the 16.
  9. The UGA/UK game has been postponed. There is no currently set time for it to be made up. I'd think it'd have to be sometime tomorrow early morning. No team should have to play a DH'er, whether it be UK or UGA.
  10. He has the tools for SS, just has a little of Cedeno's issues and can get careless on routine plays.
  11. Would the Cubs be better off doing this with Theriot? Let's say they were debating putting him 8th or 9th, I think he would do better 9th than 8th and provide a guy on base for Roberts/Soriano (if that occurs).
  12. Sometimes an agent can do more than good. Expect Lohse to do better under Duncan than what people expect.
  13. Yeah, but that first month together should be great to watch. hopefully for the sake of price, he has a more competent manager who doesn't ride him for 130 pitches with an 8 run lead. Joe is pretty good with that, he kept Kazmir pretty low for someone who does tend to labor. His high PC was 118 and he only went over 115 a handful of times.
  14. I don't see Price spending too much time in AA ala Prior in '02.
  15. That was Elliot Johnson in the clip. Crawford ran over Quintero of the Stros before that.
  16. That doesnt show the fight :( They don't even have the game on radio, you won't see any highlights of the brawl/HBP of Evan until tonight I assume.
  17. http://youtube.com/watch?v=S5mrg_AUgE8 Looked fine to me.
  18. Obviously, they didn't have anyone screening those questions which is nice. Damn those were some dumb questions though.
  19. Linecum was a token draft pick of a player who wasn't signable. You don't get a ride to Washington w/out having been seen by others. Him and his advisor probably priced themselves out of the market or were dead set on going to UW. Greene was probably a gamble that the Cubs felt they had a chance of signing, but it didn't work out.
  20. They had no chance of winning last year, putting a tackle at guard over Beekman. I think it was just poor decision making rather than protecting Beekman. I wish I was wrong, but they haven't give Bears fan the best history in that regard.
  21. Unfort. the Bears have been sitting on their hands as far as upgrading the O-Line. I'm still for BPA as far as where they need help (OL, WR, HB).
  22. Dunn isn't the type of player that when he makes contact will ground out, he does have a tendency to let pitches go by that were right down broadway. Even with two strikes, he didn't shorten that swing to put the ball into play (I think he had 10HRs w/two strikes), so I doubt he would stop driving the ball while being more aggressive earlier in the count.
  23. UK is probably in with a win over the Ole Miss/UGA winner, they'd be almost a lock with a trip to the SEC finals.
  24. Isn't every hitter, though? I mean, I'd guess that you'd be hard pressed to find a hitter with a decent number of PA's who hits better with two strikes than with one or none. Adam Dunn is already a very productive hitter. I don't see the point in trying to force Dunn to change his approach at the plate and take the risk of screwing him up by making him swing more earlier in the count. Most are, Dunn isn't the exception as far as not being able to hit well w/two strikes. Of course, most hitters don't end up in two strike counts as much as Dunn. I don't see how wanting to get him to become more aggressive (with a pitch in the zone) earlier in the count is a bad thing for someone like Dunn. Given how poorly he does with two strikes and often he is in that spot, putting a greater demand on attacking pitches earlier in the count would benefit him more than hurt his production.
  25. Baker is correct as far as Votto and Dunn becoming more aggressive. Of course, Votto did that last year, he was more aggressive and did strikeout less. Same thing with Dunn, he had 345 PAs with two strikes. He's a much better earlier in the count. I'm willing to give Baker the benefit of the doubt and assume when he's talking about aggressiveness, he's talking about being more aggressive with pitchers in the strike zone.
