  1. Floyd is out as you said, Pena is day to day, Gomes and Hinske are likely to platoon in RF. Johnson prob. becomes the DH until Floyd comes back.
  2. my guess is next year And will probably help towards only one AL East team making the playoffs this year. 80-85 wins this season would not surprise me one bit nope...next season will be nasty for them though as long as health is good... kazmir price shields garza neimann? that is a gross gross gross rotation if they could just land another outfielder they would be really intimidating Davis is prob. a better bet long-term than Neimann, of course there's still McGee (who would be the Cubs best prospect) and Hellickson as well. I hope they lockup Kamzir and Crawford longterm as well.
  3. I think it's based on who you and not the team would take at that spot based on player talents and team weaknesses rather than matching up with what the team will do, since it'll get thrown off from the start.
  4. Baltimore selects Reggie Smith DB Oklahoma Truffle, you're up.
  5. Objections to Reggie Smith? Vance, Bukie, Raisin, etc?
  6. Hard to imagine he'll be gone in the 2nd, but with his workouts and such, he'll likely be mid 2nd.
  7. Justin King Penn St. or Reggie Smith OU are two best DBs avail. and project as 2nd rds.
  8. I think it's time to make the pick. Raisin, truffle, jerseywhore, vance? Any suggestions?
  9. They'll need someone to protect him, I was thinking Duane Brown OT.
  10. Since Golden Thunder wasn't around for his 1st pick today, how does that work waiting for his 2nd pick of the day?
  11. Raisin can I change that to Carl Nicks OL Nebraska?
  12. Time to make a pick for Atlanta?
  13. We woulda been the wild card though. True, but those who are overly critcal of Baker think the Cubs would be entitled to a WS appearence in '04 if Wood and Prior were healthy. Even with them out there, the Cubs weren't the best in the division.
  14. Fwiw, even if Baker protected the young arms in '03 and made better managerial decisions in 04', that the Cards would've likely finished ahead of the Cubs regardless.
  15. I'm encouraged about their Pacific Rim activity over the off-season till now that they are recommitted to building up that area again.
  16. Worst metaphor of the day. :)
  17. Everything I had heard about Parker going into the draft was enough to convince me that he should be taken at 3.
  18. Branden Albert for the Bears would be my choice.
  19. Raiders surprised me. I don't think they can pass on one of the 2 DL on the board (Ellis, Gholston). Clady is probably an overdraft at #4 for a team without a complete desperate need (KC at 5 would not apply, because OL is by far their biggest need). If I'm the Raiders, I flip a coin on the DL-men and gamble that Williams or Baker will be there in the 2nd. That's true about Oakland. Fwiw, I would've taken Ellis over Clady despite KC needing OL badly, he was too much of a reach at #5.
  20. They're going to regret that one. The Cubs for not picking him or the D-backs for putting him at Low A? Not taking Parker.
  21. Buffalo selects Leodis McKelvin (DB) Troy
  22. Sure he's wrong. If he was right then that would mean every decision the Cubs have made had been the right one, history obviously tells us otherwise. Regardless of their baseball background, people are going develop their own opinions on the game and how the Cubs should be run. I don't think sharing that opinion equates to knowing everything about the game or knowing more about the game than the Cubs' brass. I know during my lifetime, I've seen Cubs' managers mismanage players.
