  1. Once he cont's to progress with that slider, he could increase the Ks vs. RH'ers and hopefully progress with the change will help against LH'ers. Even with the velo on his FB, sinkerballers pitch to contact, despite the pitch having sink, it's not in the league of someone like Webb or Carmona who can strike hitters out off the FB.
  2. It means they don't want to read what you sent, who can blame them?
  3. wait, so you actually were bothered by people moving around the box seats before the game? i dont even know what to say, if you dont like people meandering around your seat, maybe your choice of seating shouldnt be inside a 41k seat stadium maybe it's his job. well then he picked a bad job if he didnt like people meandering around his seat in a 41k seat stadium part of a scout's job description should not be "being overcrowded by people standing around waiting for autographs." especially if he's there to watch players during warmups and batting practice. Heh, that's not the case. I'm just one of the 40K+ that went to watch the game.
  4. I don't like 50 people huddling around my seat for 30 minutes waiting for autographs.
  5. I like it, I wasn't too happy with everyone meandering around my seat on Sunday waiting for an autograph.
  6. I'll take whatever teams is left to go along with Buffalo.
  7. Unlike Soriano, he can still run and will do so for about the next 10 years (assuming no injuries).
  8. I couldn't name the stats of any HS kid in the area, facing pitchers throwing 77 doesn't tell me how good of a hitter he'll become. You just have to see a kid enough to get a feel on how well his strike zone knowledge is, but by then you'll know how good his tools are and that would factor much more anyways. I'd follow a kid with better tools and a worse eye than vice versa and hope he can improve as he gets older with better instruction. I assume with HS kids that it ain't high on the priority list and could be assumed to be taught espec. if that organization stresses vision/hand eye coord. Stats in So. Cal and Florida might be more valid, but unless they stand out for being bad, they won't factor much like with Vitters last year.
  9. You should be fined 3 dollars.
  10. Not related to the Cubs, but you can watch Wade Davis of the Rays pitch tonite vs. Chattanooga. http://www.wsfa.com/global/story.asp?s=6978968
  11. Honestly, he gave two hard hit balls one to Floyd and one to Hinske that a LF'er with range could've had. The rest were bloop hits and with two runners on when Farnsy gave up a bomb to Pena and those two left one were charged to Hawkins. He's going to crumble at Yankee Stadium, though.
  12. I'm glad the ticket market is down, I got two tickets in those CBOE seats for 130 each. Whether it is the economy or the bad weather, I'm happy I don't have to jump thru hoops to get tickets, espec. at face value. I hope price has lowered demand.
  13. The Rays just put a 6 spot on the Yankees and lead 13-4. The pitchers for the Yankees were LaTroy Hawkins and Kyle Farnsworth. It was a surplus of straight FBs. Farnsy topped out at 94.
  14. He did have TJS in '06, but he showed good velo in '07. Probably sits 89-90 can touch 93, doesn't have much of a slider or change at the time of the draft. I wouldn't consider him someone who slipped to the 20s based on that.
  15. How the heck could Barney be hitting 9th? I hope that's wrong and Barney had a better Fitch showing with the stick.
  16. I have my sources. :)
  17. I'm disappointed that I missed Thomas here in the MWL.
  18. Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez DeRosa Soto Pie SP Theriot
  19. I'm looking forward to seeing the throw by Jose Guillen that just nailed Ordonez. Him and Guerrero have the strongest arms I've ever seen.
  20. Like him as person or as an analyst? I'd love to hang out with him, I just don't like to listen him analyze the game.
  21. Anyone else concerned about Vitters? He didn't do well is Senior year in HS, his rookie year at Mesa, and hasn't had a good Spring. Its not panic time yet, but you have to wonder if they'd rather have Parker over Vitters despite less than a year gone by.
  22. How flawed is it when errors are the #1 reason why he has struggled to stick at SS? He has good enough range and arm strength, yet he can't prevent high amounts of errors. I know in the grand scheme of things it's flawed b/c it doesn't account for range, but it shows where his problem is. That problem happens to be a major red flag as to why I feel more comfortable with the Cubs going with Theriot over Cedeno.
  23. He was tied for 23rd out 25 SS that qualified in fielding %, last year at Iowa he had 15 errors in 75 games at SS and combine that with what he did over the Winter and I don't see it. He's been playing SS since he was on the Island, waiting for him to grasp fielding at SS left awhile ago.
