  1. They tried teaching it, but he never grasped it.
  2. Not all the time, Gooden was a two pitch pitcher as was Ryan (until later in their careers). They obviously had great FBs with great breaking balls. I don't think Marmol's stuff is as electric as thiers, espec. the FB. The Cubs right now have more starters than they know what to do with and they're short in the pen with Howry and Wuertz inconsistent and untrustworthy in pressure situations. He's fine where he's at. If one of the Cubs' starter struggles, I'd rather see them bring up Gallagher than switch Marmol at this stage.
  3. Fantasy baseball by far. I care about how well someone is doing in the minors compared to Brian Roberts giving you 2 point b/c of a SB.
  4. I don't like it, Lou seems to have a quick trigger with Hill and he's pitched well as of late. Give Marquis who fades throughout the year as well as Dempster who's going to get hit with dead arm as much time between starts as poss.
  5. How many rds. we going?
  6. He's always been aggressive, often overaggressive. He made progress in '05, expanded his zone in '06 at the majors, and did well last year in Iowa after struggling in the majors in 75 or so ABs. One of the things you do when you're hot is see the ball well. I need more to be conviced that is a permanent thing.
  7. Like Brinoch said, it's not an issue until Soriano comes back. It's great that both players are playing well, show me how they handle it when they go cold. Hitting isn't about how you handle the highs, it's how you handle the lows. I'm thrilled Cedeno has completely changed his apporach at the plate.
  8. So.... go down to the local sports bar and watch it on their EI package !! 1. What local sports bar? 2. I'm 19. Having been thru Marshall recently, there ain't much there as far as nightlife.
  9. He'll be out till prob. the 2nd week of May, he had surgery on some torn cartilage in his knee.
  10. Delgado is either hurt or ain't coming back, that bat is too slow right now.
  11. Anytime you lose your Friday night starter right before the start of the season as the Illini did w/Roark, it is likely to fall short of expectations. There are a couple of good hitters on that team.
  12. Odd how he does better up 2-0 in the count and can look for a FB instead of protecting.
  13. Fwiw, there were vendors outside Wrigley selling that shirt today.
  14. Not related but Wade Davis is facing Clayton Kershaw tomorrow. You prob. won't see a better pitching matchup than that all year in the minors.
  15. For the Bears I would suggest Kentwan Balmer DT UNC.
  16. They were saying on the Cubs' post-game that the Cubs are leading the league in pitches per AB.
  17. This is definitely a worse PR image than the idiots throwing baseballs onto the field.
  18. Buffalo would kill to have it fall into place like that.
  19. The Bills select Limas Sweed, WR, Univ. of Texas.
  20. Aren't all Belgium soccer fans hooligans like Ajax and Feyenoord?
  21. You're right about Maddon, Kazmir never went about 117 or 118 as far as pitch counts. He does throw alot of pitches being that he is a strikeout pitcher with great movement on his pitches.
  22. So you're saying that TB doesn't have the best farm system right now? Also, TB's younger players are more established than any of the younger guys on those teams with Upton, Kazmir, and Shields. TB has a better farm system than both LA and LAA during the timeframe you mentioned.
  23. For the 49'ers, I would list their list of needs in order of importance: OT LB WR Best players on the board for each position Dan Connor (who would shift to OLB)-LB Limas Sweed-WR Duane Brown-OT I would suggest Connor.
  24. I missed the part about next year, but Hellickson as I predicted is on the rise and TB has no reason to rush him as they haven't so far w/him.
