  1. Huskers are in the top 10! Don't mess it up, Indiana is a solid team this year.
  2. Just read through all of this. What a game, javy is the best. How much of a [expletive] was the guy who got picked off at first AFTER we sent in a new glove for rizzo so that javy could be the tagger? How do you get caught out when they are obviously running a play at you?
  3. I'm so excited for things to get going. I've been confident the whole way, but this morning I woke up and had the thought "three losses and just like that they're done" and I nearly doubled over. Ughhhh I have the utmost confidence that the Cubs will be the better team against anyone they face, but I'm gonna be freaking out during the games.
  4. Other alds goes in a couple hours, but this one certainly isn't close
  5. Tulo double makes it 5-0 blue jays in the 3rd. Wowsa.
  6. Stroman is looking really good against the Orioles so far.
  7. Holy horsefeathers is right. Contreras can catch full time. Nothing new here, but we can just platoon Schwarber and Soler in left next year and maybe give Schwarber an occasional start behind the plate.
  8. Packers/Cardinals fan? Sounds like the worst possible type of sports fan.
  9. Not gonna lie, despite his being entirely offensive and inappropriate, several of the emails from rocket to samer on the deadspin article made me chuckle.
  10. It blows my mind that Heather Dinich is used as one of ESPN's primary college football people. She.. Is not good.
  11. The post by Willie777 in that Mets thread made me chuckle. I'm on my phone, otherwise I'd share the bits I enjoyed. As it is, go find it yourself.
  12. I've loved football since I could walk, but my dad wouldn't let me play until junior high. He told me that the coaches before then will just teach you bad habits and the injury risk isn't worth the marginal headstart on football skills. I played soccer and baseball instead until I was in 7th grade, then switched to football and baseball. I was pretty good at whatever sport I tried, so I can't say for certain that the parent imposed delay was good for me, but I was an honorable mention all-state offensive lineman in Pennsylvania by my junior year of HS and second team all-state my senior year. There's really no reason for kids under the age of 12 to be playing tackle football, but in my opinion, by junior high the kids should be developed enough to be tackling. You're right though, it is a shame when coaches just use their best athlete as a work horse in any football level below high school.
  13. That colonel reb is cryin' video just killef me.
  14. This was the worst news I never imagined I'd wake up to. So much fun to watch play. His love for the game was utterly apparent and it was infectious. Rest in peace.
  15. Wow, Tennessee has been absolutely terrific in second half.
  16. I've found a couple of reasonable Mets fans individually, but never in groups. I have like 5 friends that are Mets fans, and all but one of them are completely unbearable when it comes to talking about baseball. I've never heard luck cited so much as when I've tried talking with them. Every Mets shortcoming or bad outing, "we're so unlucky". Everything I said about how and why the Cubs are pretty horsefeathering good this year, "they're just winning lucky games, get some pitching"
  17. Nebraska is 3-0 and facing, over the next four games: Northwestern Illinois Indiana Purdue They should be 7-0 after those, but then they get to go play at Wisconsin and then at Ohio State.
  18. I'm not scared of any of them. We have the best team in the NL and should beat whoever we play. I want to see the best teams play each other, so horsefeathers the Mets, horsefeathers the Cards, bring on the Giants.
  19. Or even 4 excellent innings from the starter and toss Carls jr into that mix.
  20. Javy is my favorite, and it didn't take long at all. He is a devastatingly fun to watch baseball player. And thrilho, I agree with everything you said. I think it's spelled choir though, just an fyi.
  21. This really sucks. My condolences to his family. He will be missed. His cubs win posts are what made me start loving this site.
  22. Being a bit of a homer here, but I think Nebraska is going to beat Oregon. They've looked pretty good in their first two, and it's time to see if they're gonna be a real contender in the Big ten west, or if they're just another team. Also, this oregon team isn't crazy good, just solid.
  23. Yeah, Tennessee looked awful in the first, but they have looked pretty great so far on the second. I was at the Navy-Uconn game today. Pretty good game, first time I've caught a game in Annapolis. Final score was 28-24 Navy, but Uconn's coach lost the game for his team. Navy scored to go ahead 28-24 with 2 minutes left in the game. Uconn got the ball, drove down the field and had 2nd and goal from inside the 1 with 17 seconds left and the clock was stopped. Their coach used his final timeout for no reason, and called a run play that got stuffed. Clock ran out before they could run another play because there was a pile after the first one. I would be out for blood if I was a Uconn football fan. They had time to throw 3 passes into the endzone, and a timeout left. They wasted the timeout and all their time on one run play.
