  1. Yeah, the more I see him hit the more I feel like he would be a fun guy to have around. But his bat will definitely play and I bet the FO turns him into something we need, which is fine by me too.
  2. As a penguins fan, I agree. Pens-Hawks would make for an incredibly exciting Stanley Cup Finals.
  3. Haha had to rub my eyes like three times to make sure all three of those guys were C-class. Also I didn't pick a single AL player on accident.
  4. Group A: Nolan Arenado Group B: Kris Bryant Anthony Rizzo Group C: Giancarlo Stanton Bryce Harper Paul Goldschmidt Group D: Javier Baez Wilson Contreras Adrian Gonzalez Yasiel Puig Buster Posey
  5. That's the first time I can remember him getting hyped up in 2016. , Last year (2015) later in the season he and Baez made a play at 2nd to finish the game against the Cardinals and he was fist pumping and shouting with Javy. That was the first time I ever saw him do it.
  6. Wow. I'm on my phone so I can't like it, but if your proposed plan is how the Cubs handle our backstops this year I will be thrilled. Contreras really made it easy to like him last year, didn't he? My favorite regular season moment was him hitting his debut homerun, then having to run out and catch the bullpen right after. Edit: And I'm also super excited to see Willson-->Baez plays at second all season. Two absolute lightning rod type players on defense.
  7. It's awesome how this FO has quietly and effectively eliminated visible weaknesses this offseason. Theo has plugged the cracks in his leviathan and now it's time to turn it on the league again.
  8. The third of his name. Even more holy horsefeathering crap.
  9. Good point, I'll probably do that. Thanks.
  10. So I live in Frederick, MD, which is where the Orioles' A+ team plays. I can get a ticket package deal where I pick and choose 10 home games to go see. Realistically, I'm mostly interested in seeing Eloy when the MB Pelicans are in town, which happens 10 times this season. Is it worth it to get the 10 ticket package, or is Eloy gonna be moving on to AA by mid-season? It's not really that pricey, I just know I probably won't have as much interest if Eloy isn't gonna be there to go see. Thoughts?
  11. I fully expect Eloy to be AA by some point this season and AAA maybe pushing the majors by late 2018 if he keeps hitting. Seems like a freaking monster. That's just my incredibly uneducated prediction though.
  12. I'm becoming more and more pleased that we held onto Eloy instead of Gleyber. I doubt if the Yankees actually had their choice between the two though. I'm super excited to see Eloy join this team and demolish everything one day.
  13. Honestly, rotation depth is the only spot where I can't squint and see equal strength or stronger compared to last year. A lot of that hinges on optimism about Heyward though.
  14. http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/43177/joe-maddon-hones-his-message-around-one-word-heading-into-2017 I think Joe smokes a lot of pot. Not a bad thing, just sayin'.
  15. I think tackle football should start at junior high, 7th grade or so. And I've read somewhere that soccer actually has the most concussions associated with it out of all youth/HS sports, but I'm out right now and can't look that up to substantiate it.
  16. That picture of lackey and his wife is great.
  17. I just want to add good heyward and healthy Schwarber to last year's team and go go go. Is that too much to ask for?
  18. That looks pretty smooth, but I have pretty much no clue what to look for in a swing profile. I'm instead going to fantasize on how wonderful it would be to have a .380 OBP and .450-.500 slugging fixed (younger version) Jason Heyward in this lineup.

  20. I think carls jr is already at the point where you should label him as a key role kind of guy. His stuff plays, and he has looked really good so far. Yes, having some guys come together and fill out the pen internally would be nice, and I could see it happening. I saw someone mention Pierce Johnson as a possible pen piece, maybe that happens?
  21. I'm not well versed in the terms or stipulations of the CBA, but how hard would it be to have a clause in there that says "if a player has played x amount of years of professional baseball in such and such a league, they don't fall under the rules for international amateur signings"?
  22. They're also arguably the strongest looking team in the PAC-12... I mean if you want to look at it that way then who would want to play that Penn State team? They lost to Michigan by 40.
  23. I mean, sure, usually it would end up being a monster like Bama or Ohio State just mauling on the group of 5 team. But the most exciting, most memorable college football game I've ever seen involved a blue blood top tier team and a small conference team. 2007 Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma.
  24. I feel for ok st. They literally had the officials misrule and hand them that bad loss against CMU. Tell me they don't look different as a 1 loss Big 12 school.
