  1. Closest I'll come to the gold the Cubs are slinging around is the gold trimmed hat I got. I like it.
  2. You guys, after a massive amount of research and observation I've concluded that baseball is a ton more fun when we don't GIDP every time we get a baserunner. Back to you.
  3. At this rate, Candelario and Happ as a package should be netting us someone like Quintana by themselves. These two are absolutely killing it.
  4. Look at the guy on the far right of the picture. You can only see half of him, but he is clearly wearing OKC orange and is praising the crap out of the sun while almost everyone else is in disbelief.
  5. Good point, it's always funny when front offices and teams and fans are too full of themselves/their team to admit to easing off the "Gotta win now!" throttle. But admittedly, it is kinda shitty to tell fans "we ain't trying for it this year".
  6. Wish I could like this 100 times.
  7. Haha the whole team looks like a bunch of badasses in the picture of them walking in. What a bunch of proud mugs. I also had to check this thread title 3-4 times when it got hijacked by the United Airlines thing to make sure I hadn't been perusing the wrong one.
  8. Yasmani is the one who made a big fuss about "EVERYONE STEALS OUR SIGNS" right? Because every time we've gotten a guy on 2nd he has been out to the mound within 2 pitches.
  9. Happ had a quote earlier this year about "working hard and making it a tough decision for the FO to think about him as a tradebait." Or something to that effect anyways. Seems like he is putting his money where his mouth is. I also remember someone speculating how he could become a young, in-house version of Zobrist and be a utility IF/Corner OF. Wouldn't that be a nice add? I could easily see him forcing me to retroactively change the landscape of my mental debate from "LaSeal or Scizzors" to "Happ or Scizzors" if he continues raking.
  10. Meh, new turf always looks wonky from an aerial view. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk

  12. horsefeathers, there's a non-zero chance that Javy figures it all out and becomes the best of them all. And Contreras is already so so good its remarkable. Honestly, Contreras coming out of nowhere and looking like he is one of the top 5 catchers in the league is one of the more astonishing parts of the whole shebang. If I was a fan of some other team and saw that I would be beside myself with jealousy and frustration. "Oh look, another 20-something budding star for the Cubs, why not? FML"
  13. I can't wait til Myrtle Beach comes to town. I actually might be more excited at the prospect (hah, get it?) of seeing Eloy and EJM than I am at watching the Major League team for the first few months.
  14. There's clearly no white smudge on his chest protector before the ball gets there, and then there's an obvious spot after the ball is pulled off. Seems to me that the ball was probably gunked up by the Cecil. That, or Yadi has some serious stickum on his chest protector, to the point that pulling the ball off ripped up some of the external layer with it. The more I think about this the less likely it seems that this was some sort of insanely unlikely fluke, which is what I categorized it as upon my first, cursory view of the play. To be fair, even if the ball was tampered with AND the chest protector was coated, that play would be pretty flukey. But if I had to wager, I'd bet that Cecil was doctoring the ball a bit.
  15. That lineup, if heyward is fixed, is just horrifying for opposing pitchers. I can't wait. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
  16. I'm freakin stoked. It's all gravy from here on out. We can just sit back and enjoy this fantastic team now, with no pressure or angst at all. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
  17. Every time he throws the ball it looks strange to me. It seems like his throwing hand goes from palm on the ball to his hand being cupped upward in the process of his throw. It just makes it look like he is whippin' it over. At least to my untrained eye.
  18. Yeah, you're literally standing right over the opposing team's bullpen. You aren't allowed to hang out there though, there are ushers making sure you move along and signs everywhere marking it as a "no standing zone".
  19. Kyle Hendricks is my favorite starting pitcher on the team. Easy choice. Favorite pitcher overall is probably Carls Jr.
  20. Brewers over Twins. The goodest of guesses.
  21. I can't wait for the playoffs to get rolling. Stanley Cup season is always awesome and exciting. Feeling pretty good about the Pens regardless of who they have to face in round 1.
  22. Its a-hole. Tapatalk doesn't filter.
  23. do we have a nsbb group for brackets this year?
  24. I had been having a few beers during game 7 and watching with some family, but when davis hit his homer I left them and went to watch by myself. Well, myself and a half handle of vodka that I made disappear between the bottom of the 8th and the rain delay. It was fun running around my neighborhood with a bottle of champagne after they won though. I had stocked one away at the beginning of the playoffs.
