  1. Yeah Oregon's floor has been that way for years. Not a fan.
  2. He looks so much like Adam Levine to me in that picture.
  3. LSU's trajectory under Orgeron reminds me of the Cubs trajectory under Theo, without the historical ineptitude aspect. -Rise to the very pinnacle of the sport -Seem to have the pieces to establish a dynasty -Proceed to underperform for years playing without the spark that drove the initial success
  4. Literally exactly the same for me. I have a Rizzo away jersey and a Javy alternate. Thinking I might get a Hendricks home one to finish the set sometime.
  5. Alright, I think I get it now. The "joke" is saying what he did with the implication that Seaver would never have worn one so Brenly was just making fun of Stroman for wearing one and the racial issue follows. I was taking his phrase literally, without the implication and was really confused.
  6. My intention wasn't ever to defend Brenly. I was 10 when he was doing his thing here for the Cubs and the only context I had for any of his past was the story I read earlier with comments from Aramis. I was confused about where the anger was stemming from with regards to his current comment about the durag. It didn't strike me as anything but a dumb joke, but if Stroman took offense to it then that's what matters.
  7. There are people calling for him to be fired for this. Aramis literally said he should be fired for this. I'm not saying we should wave away microtransgressions. I'm saying I don't understand how this particular instance even clears that bar.
  8. This whole thing does just smack of hypersensitivity to me. I'm not going to try to discount systemic racism or stand here and pretend that race isn't a colossal issue for our country and for the world to try and hurdle. But I also don't think calling a hair net a durag is indicative that someone is a full blown, outed racist. Even in the video from Survivor that CL Smooth posted, it just seems like a guy calling a hair piece a durag. Maybe all I'm doing here is proving myself to truly be blind to my own privilege despite years of feeling like I'm pretty self aware about things of such a nature. But this situation right here still strikes me as ridiculous to be upset about. Like NOLA said, I believe these sorts of reaches distract from more serious instances of racism.
  9. Long story short: Brenly was using “durag” as a derogatory comment since wearing a durag is conceived by unintelligent racist white people as something a poor black person wears. Jamal from Survivor breaks it down better than I could. Watch the video I posted. I watched the video and I get it, well I get that I don't get it with regards to the privilege I have. I dunno, it still just seems like conjecture to me to conclude that someone using the word durag is automatically subconsciously putting the black man beneath themselves. Growing up the only thought I can remember with regards to them is that I thought durags looked cool.
  10. Not gonna lie, I really really don't get how what Brenly said can be taken as racist unless you're just looking for something to be upset about... It just seems like a dumb joke? Maybe I'm just oblivious to how it is being construed in such a way as to piss people off. Is the word du-rag a slur?
  11. Not much rooting interest here, but these officials have made 3-4 calls, miscalls and spots now just blatantly in the favor of the Packers.
  12. :hello: :good: Vic had himself a night. Cubs had themselves a series. Brewers have been slippin' up a bit. Think I read somewhere that Yellich might not be playing at 100%.. Seems to me like this is a perfect opportunity to bury them and in doing so, hopefully pass the Cardinals. :clapping: C'mon Cubs! Make it happen! :clapping:
  13. Why thank you sir, I'll have another.
  14. Oh, I definitely think there’s the possibility of a sweep That's the spirit! And I know you couldn't possibly be suggesting its the Mets coming out with brooms for this series... right?
  15. Stroman up first. How wonderful would a sweep of Stroman-Syndergaard-deGrom feel? Let's go Cubs! Make it happen!
  16. I did feed the troll earlier, I'll admit it. But after the bit about us animals only looking out for PTR... Haha I don't think I'm gonna read the Addison Russell thread for a while. Possibly ever. What would I ever wanna see about him? Maybe if there is ever a video of him going to pick up his paycheck and walking out of a Cubs facility lugging a wagon filled with two million nickels as his pay out the front door. I'd come back for that.
  17. It's still Happ who would get sent down for Russell to come up.
  18. I'm pretty sure that 95% or more of the posters here wanted him to not be with the Cubs this season. I'm triggered by him being in the organization at all. Him doing poorly makes it less likely he will remain in the organization. I'll keep rooting against him and not feel bad about it.
  19. While a lot of the deflection goals in hockey are luck, there are also times where the [offensive zone] defensemen along the blue line will rifle shots that aren't even at the goal and their forwards angle their sticks to deflect the puck in a such a way so as to beat the goalie. Those goals impress the crap out of me. A lot of goals in hockey are scrappy because even the low-tier NHL goalies (and the defensemen in front of them) stop more than 90% of the shots they see. You have to screen them with other players or scoop up rebounds to have a chance (unless you hit the corners of the goal perfectly or get a breakaway opportunity).
  20. I free-squatted 740+. What the actual weight was is lost to time. But believe me, I wasn’t all conf because of our record. And I surely wouldn’t fear you. Ah, a fellow football player <3 That's the only attitude you could have. Be the hammer or be the nail.
  21. Hah in high school I was that 250lb guard pulling on the traps and messing up the DT who thought he had a clear path to the ball carrier. I loved playing football and love watching it too. I only played football so I lifted all year long to go with it. By junior year I was 5'8", 250, benching 325 and squatting 605. In a league/tier where it was common to face DT's about half my weight. We didn't feel much resistance until the postseason my last two years.
  22. The one thing that I ever yell at the Cubs is "Swing at [expletive] strikes!" I swear it's my biggest pet peeve watching them just watch pitches over the heart of the plate.
  23. Just saw a guy during the 7th inning stretch wearing a tshirt that said "I liked Javy Baez before it was cool". Gatekeeping being a Javy fan seems no bueno if you ask me. Hamels is killing it today though.
