  1. I love coming in here after work when I know the cubs lost just to see the back and forth of DOOOOOMMMMMM vs. QUIT WATCHING IF YOU THINK THEY SUCK. Wish they'd stop losing 1/3 of their games. Bunch of chumps. Why even play if you're never gonna sweep a series?

  3. meh, fandom is rooting for a specific set of laundry and the athletic acts displayed upon the field of play. its just gravy when a player actually turns out to be a fun/good person.
  4. His taking third to beat the shift the other day brought a grin to my face. KB is an outstanding baseball player.
  5. I'm glad nobody drafted him. What kind of talent is he? If there was no external factors, where do you think he would've been drafted?
  6. Most Pens fans will probably be annoyed by it, yeah. I don't care about the Caps winning it really, they're the team that knocked us out so its better that they win it all imo. Just wish Wilson didn't get to enjoy a Stanley Cup. horsefeathers that guy. Also woulda been cool to see Fleury win one.
  7. Meh chatwood pitched alright that inning c'mon ya rubes
  8. Is that Marlins man behind home plate? This game isn't nationally televised, is it?
  9. The meme is gonna be the one with him holding his hands out and grimacing at JR. The better picture is the one from behind lebron with him standing and pointing towards the basket and JR dribbling at him like a dumbfounded puppy.

  11. Hey man, all you can do is wait and see what they're gonna do, just like the rest of us. The only benefit of being pessimistic/worrying about the valleys of the season is that, in the event of an entire season of subpar play, you already had the doomboner out so it hurts less? Either way, you're gonna be disappointed at the end of the season if they suck. Might as well enjoy the season regardless of its variances from the ideal. Lester was a boss yesterday and we got to bear witness to our badass defensive stud in LF making a sweet play that was capped by the most fun player in baseball making one of his signature tags. Edit: And this isn't even a valley, its a plateau.
  12. Watching sports is putting the needle in your arm as a baseline. The goings on upon the field of play just decide what is in the needle.
  13. Can we get a downvote/broken heart option for other people's posts? Sorry I let ya all down tonight, 0-2 to start the year 3 I'm worse than the Cobs.
  14. Welp, yesterday was a whole lot of: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: But that was yesterday. Today the Cubs are gonna get to this rookie Plutko and Lester is gonna go 7 innings, allowing less than 5 hits and only 1 run. 7-2 Cubs. Obligatory pitcher pics: this stud vs. this dud Go Cubs Go!
  15. First time I've rewatched any of that game. I dunno how I got through it the first time.
  16. On any timeline that would be relevant to Bryce Harper, that Cubs core is significantly better. Soto and Robles have a combined 235 PA above A-ball, the odds of them outproducing Contreras/Schwarber before 2021 are not high, and the odds of them bridging the huge quality gap between Bryzzo and Rendon/Turner are lower than that. And then you’ve also got the fact that the Cubs have 4 other former Top-50 prospects as position player depth compared to...the hope that Michael Taylor finds his AA form somehow and [file not found]. Hey, thats Michael A. Tater, don't ya know? I live in Maryland and god how I hate hearing the National fans and announcers be proud of that nickname every time he runs into one.
  17. Hopefully, that momentum carries over to tomorrow. Meh 8 hits and 1 run in a drizzle for some of it isn't such a tough pill to swallow alone if its the offense that is a point of concern. These Braves are actually alright. It's all sequencing, we'll get em tomorrow.
  18. regardless of this game being annoying as all get out, zobrist turning on that 98mph high heat and smashing it foul that hard was freakin crazy in the last at bat.
  19. Top 3 for us without looking has gotta be KB. Javy, and the third one I would honestly guess Schwarber. Time to go check. Edit: from what I see, replace Javy with Willson and you have your 1-2-3. Still, our position player depth is silly.
  20. Oh man, sontensei was the first crazy I bore witness to in my tenure here. Bahahaha remember how we thought he might actually be drinky Joe for a second cause he made a thread on how Chris Coghlan at 2nd base was a good plan, and then Maddon did it?
  21. Willson after his last couple days (plus getting married plus I kinda think him and Bodie look similar):
  22. Holy crap this is the first time in like 3 years of doing this that I've seen an updated list where my name wasnt in the very bottom third!
  23. Never heard of this stat but it says it has to do with Hall of Fame worthiness and Molina is currently just barely outpacing that surefire second ballot HoFer Russell Martin. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/jaws_C.shtml But apparently that only takes offensive value into consideration? I dunno.
  24. I, for one, am happy that Cubswin11 filled in making game threads a while back and set the Cubbies straight.
