  1. Keep beating the Reds. Even, and especially, if they're a playoff caliber team. Beat everyone. Go Cubs!
  2. I think this is the first time Derwood has ever gone full Derwood in response to one (or two in this case) of my posts. I'm not sure what emotions I should be feeling at this point.
  3. Gotta pick up the games against the Reds, even if they're improved. C'mon Cubs.
  4. I dunno, didn't really think it through beyond the scope of "could this guy become a Cub?" He doesn't look like he sucks, although I've never really been a fan of his red-assery. Really just posted because I think that's an interesting move by him to take control of where he goes if there are several contenders vying for him.
  5. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2835727-madison-bumgarner-rumors-yankees-cubs-red-sox-among-teams-on-no-trade-list seems pretty smart of him to me. could we even get him? no way right?
  6. Man I can't be the only person who thinks Almora looks like a real toolbag with the longer hair and the headband yeah?
  7. I don't know what to say, but it is weird feeling like the third series of the season is already nut up or shut up time. I expect the Cubs to nut up, and will show more effort in my game thread when they do.
  8. Yeah but I thought the BBT gifs were because everything sucked. I think their performance today (mainly Javy's) merits some marginal upgrade in gif material at least, like I dunno move up the ladder to iCarly gifs or something.
  9. Javy is too good, when does he get promoted to the MAJOR major leagues?
  10. With the way that this offseason seemed to drag on and on I'm surprised that I feel like opening day snuck up on me. Go Cubs go, here's hoping for a fun season this time.

  12. i don't think not giving maximum effort has ever been a problem for willy Oh I've never doubted that Willy goes 100% on nearly every play, I meant that I think we're going to see a more mentally dialed in Contreras this season. I'll say this is all 100% speculation of course. We all know what he has the capacity to be, he's already shown it, an all-star MLB catcher. He came up from being a relative no name prospect and lit the world on fire through what I presume to have been really hard work and dedication to his craft. He finished his ascendancy and made the all-star team last year and I can't say for sure, but I could definitely understand if the guy felt kind of validated and maybe took the foot off the throttle just a tad, or maybe lost a bit of focus would be a better phrase to explain my conjecture. Combine that with the tremendous workload he was given last season and voila, you get his subpar 2nd half of 2018. All I'm saying is I think Contreras knows how to right his own ship and he strikes me as a guy who really takes his results to heart. So I anticipate seeing him really locked in for the 2019 campaign. Never a doubt about the guy's hustle, he is one of my favorite guys to root for.
  13. SSS but I have a hunch that Willy is going to be giving everything maximum effort this year and he is gonna pop off all season.
  14. I've been quietly confident that Bryce is gonna be a Cub come the 2019 season the whole time. Fretting about it won't change anything, and if he goes to some other team, oh well I still get to watch Javy and Bryant duel for NL MVP this year.
  15. Oh well. they're good they're young come back next year with a different kicker and go 16-0
  16. I'm gonna be at this one. In Minnesota for the holidays. Pretty excited to see the Vikings' new stadium, I think it looks cool as hell but I've only ever seen the outside. This will be my second ever Bears game. Also my second ever NFL game. The first was that one Monday night game a few years back, also against the Vikings, when the Metrodome roof collapsed due to a snowstorm so they had to play the game outside at the University of Minnesota's football stadium in another snowstorm. Bears won that one, like 95% sure Devin Hester returned a punt for a TD. Hoping the Bears do go all out in this one, this defense is special and it'd be cool to see them actually trying hard in person.
  17. Personally, I'd rather see a strong farm system and a sub $100 million payroll ML squad than a World Series caliber team that has the gall to spend $250 million and acquire an overrated and cocky has been like Bryce Harper. /s
  18. This thread is weird. I like it. Billy William's sexualized pizza scandal is gonna be the tipping point in us getting Harper. I can feel it in my cheese stuffed crust.
  19. He isn't already? Dafuq is wrong with you?
  20. Sad! Witch Hunt......ummmm....Horseface. Horsefeathers!
  21. As far as being cocky is concerned, to be perfectly honest, I bet the Cubs go horsefeathering off next season. This year the wheels fell off, so javy just picked the cart up and carried it himself and they won 95 games. However for the first time in four seasons they're off golfing before the end of the NLCS, and it was a bad, whimpering way they went out too. Two runs in how many innings of two elimination games in Wrigley? Blech. That having been said, I look at the players on this team and I can't imagine them just fading out into the backdrop of contention. I really expect that they're gonna come roaring back next season. I already have a weird confidence in the 2019 Cubs, to the point that I think being cocky about their chances is justified.
  22. I send that and Acuna smacks a homer right after
  23. I'm in atlanta for a few days, so I'm at the braves cardinals game right now. Cards with an error and a tootblan through 3 so far. Nothing else of note has happened.
