  1. Yeah, mostly. Charlie Blackmon had 2 really good swings, either may have have gone on warmer days. But outside of that, Shota dominated the Rockies.
  2. I mean...maybe. But it's like...4 games into the season. The Cubs have shown: 1. They really like Busch, they traded Ferris for him, a highly regarded prospect, and Hope, who they paid over 11th round value for in the draft 2. They don't really like Mervis. They've replaced him and skipped over him again and again. 3. Busch's processes have looked really good. 4. It's four games, man. So yeah, like, maybe? But also, probably not. There's really no reason to even bring it up yet. It's April 1st.
  3. So Smyly's in the game. So...uh...who's starting for Steele?
  4. "Hitting the ball well is for losers." - Things I wish more people said to me.
  5. Strikeout number 9! And emotion! Welcome to Chicago, great debut.
  6. An". He has an eight strikeout performance. That's what you mean right...? Right...?
  7. A second brutal high strike call on a Cub hitter.
  8. The Rockies are just a miserable organization right now. Please let's get to these guys.
  9. Rockies #2-8: Nothing Blackmon: two good swings.
  10. Really good inning. Only "mistake"-ish pitch was the fastball that didn't get to the shadow-zone to Blackmon (fly out). Everything else was basically how you'd draw up Imanaga's success. Good start.
  11. Shota does not care about the cold. Going under-shirtless. He will fit right in.
  12. Excited to see Imanaga go today. He seems like a genuinely likeable personality from the little I can see and his stuff is funk-elite. Bodes well for him to be an enjoyable part of the roster and a fun presence on the mound.
  13. Yeah, I went in...2012? Or was it 2011? Either way, it was Cubs vs Pirates. The weather was rainy, cold, and generally miserable. That game happened. They cared very little that it sucked outside.
  14. Good job in the 9th to scratch four across. Close it down, take the W.
  15. I understand Wicks needs to clean up the hanging curve to Semien and the Langford triple, but he's been bit twice by easy outs on the infield as well. This is a really encouraging start for Wicks. The Rangers had a 115 wRC+ against LHP last year (5th in baseball) with a bottom 10% K% against LHP. And then all they did was add Wyatt Langford. The amount of whiffs Wicks has generated is really encouraging, and begins to show improvement in his biggest "polish" from last year. In a perfect world, Swanson and Morel get to both of those balls and it's like a 5-2 or a 5-3 game right now.
  16. horsefeathers. Wicks has had some solid stuff, but he's also not good enough to consistently overcome defensive miscues. Left a few very hittable pitches to good hitters and he's gotten hammered for it.
  17. Rare miscue from Swanson. Wicks hurt twice now.
  18. Yeah, hand placement is new. Looks much more like Seiya in initial setup.
  19. I mean, Christopher Morel has played all three games so far, the Cubs got super pissy with Nightengale over specifically Morel rumors and it's pretty clear by having him play third base, have worked internally with him at first...the organization is dedicated to finding him a home somewhere. But this also represents a goal post move...your initial issue was Happ is "just a guy" and Morel should be the LF'er which just isn't a good take at all. What exactly is the complaint, here? On the surface it appears the Cubs are trying him literally everywhere to find any sort of home for him.
  20. Two really good swings by Amaya today. He looks really solid.
  21. Ian Happ has been the fourth most valuable LF in baseball the last two seasons using fWAR and has been worth 7 wins over that span. That's not "just a guy". He isn't a star, but sits comfortably in "above average regular" territory. Secondly, Morel has all of the tools to succeed at center, left, right, second, third and short and yet consistently succeeds at almost none of them. That's a horrible take and you know it.
