  1. Where did you read that? That might have been accurate a year ago, but he shed 25 pounds last summer and scouts have reported him having a 40-inch vert. He wasn't invited to the combine so we don't have access to an official measurement on that. NBAdraft.net The Bulls really could use a big man who can play D, so I have to think the pick will be Thomas or Aldridge.
  2. This is getting sad. Also, whoever in the Spanish contingent of fans is waving a Confederate Flag is either being hilariously ironic or disgusting. Either way, he deserves a beating.
  3. Didn't Curt Schilling post there when he was traded to the Red Sox before the 2004 season? Schilling's a known internet junkie who plays games like Everquest. When the Red Sox and Diamondbacks had a deal agreed to in principle, it all hinged on his call since he was a 10/5 guy. So, he went to Sons of Sam Horn late one night and hung out in the chatroom and posted in a few of their threads. Apparently, he was so impressed with the fans that he couldn't help but agree to it.
  4. He's in a major, major, major slump. He's not ready for the Show. Needs another year at least! I wouldn't quite go that far. His walk rate this season has actually been an improvement over past years, which is quite welcome for a player like him. His power has been a bit lacking, but I think he'll get it back given time. He'll adjust to AAA pitching in a reasonable amount of time. A hot streak will get his average back up to where people will want it to be. I think he'll have a good one before the summer is over.
  5. You could do a Mythbusters tie-in. Think of the ratings! And the explosions! Can we get Mark Grace to host it?
  6. Sefolosha seems like an intriguing pick. He could benefit from the new offensively-minded rules in the NBA. Alexander Johnson, on the other hand, is apparently best compared to Othella Harrington. Er...no thanks. I really like Roy, but at the same time, I have to wonder if he'd be available at around 4 or 5. Everyone already knows I love T2, so no need to extrapolate on him. :D
  7. Remember on the old Garfield cartoon when Garfield would always try shipping Nermal to Abu Dhabi? I say we take that approach with Rusch.
  8. I say we re-christen the Cubs as "The Slumpbusters". It has so many wonderful connotations! :D
  9. *Groans* Some one has a selective memory.
  10. You know, I had tossed Chipper in the very good pile due to his moving back and forth between 3B and the OF, recent injuries, and always being overshadowed by more well-known players during his era. I then went back and looked at his credentials after you wrote this post. My memory is fading in my old age, it turns out! He's not a first ballot HOF, but he definitely has a good shot of getting in some day.
  11. His power should translate to the big leagues, but his long swing and average plate discipline is going to get him eaten up in the big leagues. His K-rate is really bad now itself. Are his swing and plate discipline any worse than Francoer? Frenchy, if I remember correctly, had horrible plate discipline, and while he doesn't hit for a great average, his power has made him a viable major leaguer. Francoeur's plate discipline has been pretty bad over the course of his career because his game is based so heavily on his ability to make contact. He's actually been a rather extreme case, so it should be interesting to see whether or not he ever manages to sustain a reasonable average. Moore's plate discipline is happily much better than Francoeur's. He takes enough walks that, at the rate things are going for him, he could end up having an average or slightly above average walk rate in the majors. I'd like to see him K a little less, but he does seem to know what he's doing at the plate.
  12. Fun names and pronunciations I'm looking forward to seeing horribly butchered in coming years: Jeff Samardzija Micah Hoffpauir Casey McGehee Mark Pawelek Felix Pie Luke Hagerty Joe Simokaitis Jae Kuk Ryu Geovany Soto Dylan Johnston Yusuf Carter Carmen Pignatiello Brian Dopirak
  13. Guess what kids, those red and yellow cards have all been warranted! Link What a joke. These guys are spineless morons.
  14. That man is going to be an animal. I'm soooooooooo looking forward to next year's NBA draft, especially if Isaiah takes over the Knicks' coaching job and coaches the team to 15 wins. :D
  15. Marmol also needs to have more time down in the minors to refine his control and secondary pitches. Hill has nothing left to prove in AAA. We might as well throw him into the fire over an extended period and let him take his lumps, for better or worse.
  16. Like back in the day when Vince McMahon used to put Andre the Giant on a small platform to make him seem even taller than he really was.
  17. The refs handed that game to the Heat on a silver platter. And they barely won the game. I'm sure Mark Cuban is going to get himself fined again.
  18. That felt cheap.
  19. Hot Cakes Grits Hash Browns?
  20. And if he had, the refs would have called the foul on Harris. Shaq looks like he wants to eat Devin.
  21. Remember all the hype LeBron has been getting? I think that hype applies...to Wade.
  22. Could you imagine if Dirk had decided to play soccer?

  24. Veal got promoted? There goes that prediction of mine, haha. I wonder how much of this is temporary while the Cubs figure matters out with the new draftees, Barrett's suspension, Wade Miller getting rehab time, and so on?
