  1. Thanks DJaxx! How did Pie strike you?
  2. Limited opportunities, bad reads, and sample size.
  3. And Henry Blanco for 10 games. There is no God.
  4. Exactly. My big fear is that the Cubs call him up this summer and let Dusty and his band of merry morons get their hands on him. They've already done a number on Murton...who knows how bad it would get with Pie?
  5. Remember how many people thought Harvey was the fourth best prospect in that draft behind Delmon Young, Ricky Weeks, and Adam Loewen?
  6. .267/.340/.435 with 5 HRs, 9 2Bs, and 4 3Bs, 4 SBs, and 6 CS in 191 ABs, to be exact. That K/BB of 44/18 could use some more work, but it's actually an improvement over the past two years. He also seems to need some more coaching on what to do on the basepaths (but not the same kind Corey got). Yeesh, he's quite young for AAA (21) and it's barely two months into the season. Don't throw the guy under the bus yet.
  7. My calculations... David Ortiz (14) Adam Dunn (17) Albert Pujols (25) Jason Bay (16) Lance Berkman (14) Hank Blalock (8) Jonny Gomes (14) Shawn Green (4) Todd Helton (3) Brad Wilkerson (9) Prince Fielder (9) Total: 133
  8. Looks like they reached a deal over the weekend: Link
  9. With Dusty managing what are the odds of that happening? Slim to none, but I'd still like to see it. He's doomed under Dusty. The man's offensive value is in his patience (which is pretty good), as his power is pretty much non-existent.
  10. I dunno about that one. I think Kerry has had a positive relationship with the Cubs during his tenure and has been generally well-liked. Plus, he and his wife really like Chicago. Granted, that doesn't always mean a guy is 100% for sure coming back, but I think Hendry and Wood's agent will work out an agreeable, incentive-based deal.

  12. Okay, now that I have more time... 1) OBP has exploded in popularity thanks in large part to Moneyball. While it may not have spread to every organization, many more organizations are using it to evaluate players in the draft and free agency. More prominently, many more fans of the game have been espousing its virtues than in past years. Do you think that OBP is everything that people make it out to be? What are some of the inherent flaws you see in it? Also, in the next few years, do you think another metric will achieve a similar popularity? 2) There does not seem to be a whole lot of consistency in the way people statistically evaluate each pitcher. Each group has its own most important stat, be it wins, Ks, ERA, WHIP, K/9, HR/9, and so on. What stat or combination of stats do you think is best in evaluating an individual pitcher's overall production? Do you think this stat (or combination) works equally well for starters and relievers? 3) What underrated or undervalued stats do you think people should start paying more attention to when evaluating a player? Thanks!!
  13. Nice effort all around today. Aardsma looked sharp, hitting 98 with his fastball and high 80s with his changeup. Wood looked good. Even Juanny-Boy hit a triple! Good game, imo,
  14. Aurilia hit one in the air. The ball hit off the wall behind the basket, bounced off the basket itself, then plopped out onto the field. Murton ran over and picked it up like it was in play and the umps called it a double. Aurilia or Freel? It was Freel. I get those scrappy MIFs on the Reds confused. ;)

  16. Getting thunder and lightning up in Roger's Park.
  17. Mercker's mullet is feathered like a majestic peacock.
  18. Buzzsaw! And Vince, it's "Peanuts", not "Peanits".
