  1. It's Bo Ryan basketball. I've come to expect this over the years.
  2. I wouldn't be fine with that particular deal. However, I get a bad feeling about Colvin when it comes to next season. People who like him can make excuses for his flaws since being drafted due to his tools and bright spots. At the same time, with the lack of walks he draws, there's a realistic chance that AA and AAA pitchers will eat him alive next season. If he doesn't magically fix that next season, I have a feeling his trade value will go down the crapper.
  3. More? What's next we're going to include Colvin? I'm a Colvin defender, but I'd be fine giving him up while his trade value is still relatively high.
  4. Can we please stop quoting rumors from their site as truth? They've slipped past MLB Trade Rumors in terms of credibility, imo.
  5. Ditto. Once it gets on a more reputable site, I'll believe the deal's done.
  6. But does Darvish throw a GyRoBALL? Considering his Middle Eastern heritage, I'm guessing it's more along the lines of a Falafelball.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if they only have one loss, considering next season's schedule: August 30 - Youngstown State September 6 - Ohio University September 13 - @USC September 20 - Troy University September 27 - Minnesota October 4 - @Wisconsin October 11 - Purdue October 18- @Michigan State October 25 - Penn State November 8 - @Northwestern November 15 - @Illinois November 22 - Michigan
  8. I'm still going to maintain Ohio State was the 7th best team in the BCS this year, as an FYI.
  9. Arm action is always welcome, but Parker also had some great lower body movement to get the extra oomph on his pitches. If Gray has easy arm action without effective leg action, you might as well pencil him in for a future shoulder/arm surgery.
  10. Parker's mechanics were really good, from what I've read about him. I'd like to see if Gray's mechanics can stack up.
  11. Somebody did it.
  12. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with the teams in this division?
  13. I'm willing to make an argument that Ohio State is the 7th worst BCS team. I think they'd beat Hawaii, but it'd be close.
  14. Brewerfan is a good place to read up on the MLB Draft. The Hardball Times also has minor league stuff posted on occasion. Minor League Splits is really helpful for nuanced stats. Baseball-Reference has a minor league section. During the course of the season, this forum is hopping. We have a bunch of posters who are involved in baseball in a variety of capacities (announcers, writers, scouts, etc.). Plus, we have daily threads dedicated to minor league box scores and people who are following the game.
  15. That was a surprisingly enjoyable game.
  16. His throwing arm action is horrible. His non-throwing arm needs to come in more towards his body while bringing his glove in earlier and more gradually. Everything else is pretty darn nice, though.
  17. That is funny, but not nearly as funny as Manny cutting off the throw in the outfield. I'm practically in tears every time I see that. Oh god, best play I've seen in my life......Is this on video anywhere? I can never find it if it is. Yoink
  18. I doubt I'd ever stop laughing if you guys traded away the farm for Bedard. Maybe this is a move for Blanton? I'd doubt the Rangers would want to trade Volquez away to a divisional rival. If Beane wants him, this would help the Reds' pursuit for another pitcher.
  19. I'd be all for renaming it Pink Taco Field or something equally ridiculous/borderline offensive.
  20. Bruce Miles has posted on here before that JH's interest in Brian Roberts is legitimate, but that's been the extent of everything.
  21. Trammell seems to be a good option, but does anyone know what his style was when he was in Detroit? I'd like to get to know more about him before anointing him Lou's eventual replacement. If Sandberg is serious about becoming a manager some day, I think he's going to have to get more time managing under his belt. Moreover, he's also going to have to eventually end up being a coach at the major league level so he gets a better handle on how to deal with major leaguers on an everyday basis. I think Sandberg has the intelligence and ability to manage some day. I don't know if he actually will, but he could be a good candidate a few years down the road.
  22. The release point for Hill's fastball and curveball along with the initial plane of both is also the reason for his deception. He never developed a two seam fastball since the four seamer's flat plane worked nicely with his curveball, which starts relatively normally, and then just drops off the table.
