1) My mom. She grew up with the Cubs and still enjoys them. Granted, she has a very negative point of view on their chances of success, but she'd watch games with me and would always be there to commiserate with after the latest Cubs disaster. For once, I'd like to have a Cubs conversation with her that isn't some variation of "It's the Cubs; what do you expect?" 2) My sister. She is much the same as my mother, although she is much more into them than my mom. Her worldview is that the Cubs exist for the sole purpose of making people humble. 3) My friend Luis, solely for the reason that I'd be able to call him up at any point during the day and have the following conversation with him: Me: "Guess what?" Luis: "What?" Me: "The Cubs won the World Series!!!!!!" Luis: "I KNOW!!!! IT'S SO AWESOME!!!" 4) Ron Santo, Ernie Banks, Ryne Sandberg, Sammy Sosa, Fergie Jenkins, and all of the other former Cubs who never got to celebrate a World Series victory with the Cubs, much less make it to the World Series. 5) All of the idiots in the media who won't shut up about curses, lovable losers, and all of the other mindless crap that we've had to endure for our lifetimes. In particular, I'd love to see this team wipe the smirk off the faces of Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Joe Morgan. 6) All of the Cubs greats who have passed on. I'd love to think about how Harry Caray would be celebrating the Cubs winning the NL Central this year. Jack Brickhouse, too. 7) All of the Cubs fans who have lived and died with this team through the times of abject horror and misery to the times of ecstasy and joy. It's about time we get our due. 8) All of the obnoxious fans of other teams who will mindlessly defer to arguments involving goats, curses, and 1908 when the topic of the Cubs is brought up. I'd love to see the Cubs make them choke on their crow. 9) Me. Just because. :D
