  1. Ohio State sucks. I'd argue they're the worst team of all the conference champions.
  2. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!!
  3. Conference Champions and their losses: Ohio State: #15 Illinois OU (assuming status quo): Texas Tech and Colorado Southern Cal: Stanford and #17 Oregon Virginia Tech: #7 LSU and #11 Boston College WVU: #21 South Florida and Pittsburgh LSU: Arkansas and Kentucky Seriously, you can make a case for any of those five being #2 behind Ohio State. Heck, you could probably make a case that all five of those teams are markedly better than OSU!
  4. Heck, why not give consideration to WVU in that case? We're giving it to all of the other conference champions!
  5. I won't argue with this but it has happened twice in the last 6 years. Something worth noting: -Oklahoma played in their conference championship game and lost to Kansas State in 2003. At least they actually made it to their conference championship game. -Nebraska was shut out of their conference championship game in 2001.
  6. Then again, this could all be moot if Mizzou somehow wins tonight.
  7. Their case strengthens if OU loses, but considering the BCS expanded the potential pool of teams to play in the bowls, I really think the fact that OSU will be in the National Championship game, the Rose Bowl committee will give serious consideration to the second best Big 10 team. It's funny, considering Illinois would be a top 10 team if they hadn't lost to freaking Iowa. You realize Im saying I think U of I will be in the Rose right? Whoops, misread your post.

  9. Virginia Tech has a more legitimate claim, considering the two games they lost were to ranked teams in LSU and BC. Oklahoma lost to Colorado and Texas Tech.
  10. I dont see how this wont put U of I in the Rose. Ohio State moves into the National Championship and the Rose Bowl has tried its hardest to keep its Big 10/Pac 10 matchup since the implementation of the BCS system.
  11. Holy crap... If this actually happens...wow...just...wow... What a year for college football.
  12. Any word on what the new and improved offer looks like?
  13. Those Mizzou unis are awesome.
  14. Bring back Juan Pierre!
  15. The Mutts might also be a good fit. I'd prefer to trade him to the AL. How about the Blue Jays? The Rangers? Do they have anything we'd be interested in? Travis Snider plz.
  16. The post in question. Tejada is set to make $26m over the next two years, for those of you who are curious.
  17. Bruce Miles said in another thread that money was the big factor getting in the way of a potential trade involving Tejada. I think they'd have to get the Orioles to throw some cash into the deal, but Peter Angelos is a notorious cheapskate. I really don't think he'd be willing to pay part of Tejada's salary unless the Orioles committed highway robbery on a trade. Roberts was recently signed to a 2 year deal for 2008 worth $14.3m. I'm not so sure how much I'd like having him at 2B with DeRosa around. If the Cubs legitimately think he can play SS effectively, I'd be all for it. If he'd just be acquired to be yet another in a long line of potential 2B candidates, I wouldn't be interested.
  18. If I'm the Twins, I demand they throw in one of Jackson or Tabata or upgrade Cabrera to Cano with one of Betances or McAllister thrown in.
  19. BALONEY! He has a .395 OBP in what Bill James defines as clutch situations. That's noticably better than his career .381 OBP. You're telling me that's not coming through when it counts? Big freaking deal, he has a .218 AVG in those situations. The purpose of a clutch situation is not to make an out, something that he seemed to be quite adept at, especially compared to his career numbers.
  20. Um...nowhere in the article does he definitively say one way or another clutch hitting exists. That's a misleading title you have for this thread. He's basically saying the assertion that clutch hitting does not exist may not be true based on data he has been examining and extrapolating, but that he hasn't come to the conclusion that clutch hitting does in fact exist. Some examples... ... ...
  21. I'm curious as to whether Neal Huntington is still going to follow the organization's mantra of loving them back of the rotation LHPs. Gio would be the best one of those they could get!
  22. You can never have too many lefties in your rotation, dude.
  23. Have the Padres learned from their mistakes when dealing their prospects to the Cubs? Burke and Ceda are two of the better prospects in this system as it is.
  24. Are these guys any good? I'd love to have the Padres overpay to get a hometown guy in the fold. Contreras LeBlanc Huffman
