  1. Last night two of the sox players got hit. (iguchi and AJ the p", i think). Today, burhle decides to hit BJ Surhoff in the back. No big deal. Surhoff jsut walks to first. The ump then ejects Burhle. Well, Ozzy gets pissed, obviously. So I turn up the volume (I had to turn it off, the hawk and dj are horrible) and they are REALLY letting the ump have it. It was hysterical. Hawk/DJ: THIS IS TOTAL B.S!! SOME OF THESE UMPIRES HAVE NO CLUE, JUST NO CLUE. HE MUST BE ONE OF THEM. I TELL YOU WHAT, THIS IS SUCH B.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was going to die laughing.
  2. Nah, no need for us to do that. Ryno did it for us. :x I know. I'm sorry, I know he's a hall of famer and he deserves every acoloade for doing so. But he sounded like a bitter old man at points in that speech. Okay, back on topic now. Palmiero is stupid.
  3. But, Since when did it become okay to hit homers and have a slugging percentage??!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!!? Sandberg will KEEEL you.
  4. If he didnt get an NSBB plug in there'll be hell to pay....
  5. Look! He's smaller! And that thing on his chin could possibly be a zit, or maybe some leftover cottage cheese from the pregame meal. That convinces me! He's a juicer!!
  6. ####ing dumb###. I cant wait till this thread is 150 pages long and they start to spew venom towards every player who has ever hit a home run in his career.
  7. Lord that division is horrible.
  8. No, because Hairston and the prospects would get claimed. Then why didn't the Cardinals' prospects get claimed last year when they did the Walker deal? I think only guys on the 25-man roster have to go thru waivers. Could be wrong though. I beleive its the 40 man, not the 25.
  9. Well, I was origionally not in favor of this trade either. Not so much because I didnt like it, but moreso because I wanted somebody bigger. Now that I've had a night to think of it, I really do like this deal. To answer some of your concerns. If you wanted someone bigger, were you ready to give up somebody big? For example, Hill, Pie, Murton, Harvey, etc? That's why I didn't want a big deal. The only way a big deal was going to be done is if 1) we gave up top tier prospects, or 2) get a high priced big time player whose team is looking to get rid of money. Either way, I didn't want to go. Hill, Murton, Harvey, etc. Yes. Pie, No. And no kidding you'd have to get a high priced big time player from a team who was looking to get rid of money. Thats how most big players are moved. I would much rather see Adam Dunn patrolling left then Matt Lawton in center/left. However, I am still very happy with what we got.
  10. Why are you so firm in your beleif he will not resign? Even if he does not come back, this deal most definatley gave us a bump in the playoff race. What teams around us did anything? Nobody. Also, just about everybody from espn(not creadible) to Baseball Ameica(credible) is saying hendry made a great deal. I mean, we only gave up Jody Gerut. I'd rather see Matt Lawton take a job away from a cub farmhand then Jody Gerut.
  11. It really isn't even $6.5 million; it's less than a half year's prorated portion of that. Sweet! :D
  12. Could be. But he was injured for a streatch last year and he was very solid at third.
  13. That is very true. I forgot about priority lists and such.
  14. Well, I was origionally not in favor of this trade either. Not so much because I didnt like it, but moreso because I wanted somebody bigger. Now that I've had a night to think of it, I really do like this deal. To answer some of your concerns. - I doubt Lawton will simply be a rental. I could see him sticking around a few more years. And Gerut was young, big whoop. He had a good but (according to those who interpret stats such as babip better than I) insanely lucky year. And he hasnt come close to returning to those numbers. - A ton of salary?? The pirates are giving us 1 million to go towards his salary. So, that takes it down to 6.5 million dollars. Thats hardly a ton. - This move alone does not. But This combined with getting Nomar back in the lineup. And williamson and wood in the pen, that very well might. The only thing that concerns me is his pre/post ASG splits. He is always very good the first half, and very bad teh second. But we will see. I still like the deal very much.
  15. Nah. I have no doubt hairston can play left. Even so, 5 outfielders is plenty. we have our three every day starters. Then we have a guy who can back up right and left (holla) and a guy who can do center (hairston). We have ourselves covered pretty well.
  16. Below average? I would have to disagree with you. Aram has really improved defensively and is average to slightly above average, IMHO. Overall, I would call ARam the best 3rd basemen in the National League this year. I would put him second to only ARod this year. His defense has been solid and he is starting to become a legitimate All Star with his bat. ARam does need to work on defense again. Last year he was solid. This year he is tied for 4th worst in the league with 13 errors. Several of those errors have taken place in recent games where he seems to be having a problem with his throw. Hopefully, he will iron that out and get back on track to how he was fielding last year. His groin problems may be keeping him from taking a good step into his throws. Yea. And alot of bad hops that he gobbled right up last year are playing him like a video game. I wonder what has changed....
  17. I believe he has a job with them waiting for him when he retires. Aaaahh. I see.
  18. More importantly, why does stairs want to stay with the royals? :-s
  19. What about those who say adam dunn suck??
  20. Haha, so you've determined Murton isn't good and is a one-tool player after 32 major league at bats? Is it the .469 BA, .526 OBP or .594 SLG you don't like about him? :mamoru:
  21. I doubt it. But I dont particularly care. Right now we just need to play, and win. Now, ask me again in a month and I might have a different answer.
  22. Yes, taking shots at other players is the classiest thing to do. That being said, Congrats to Sandberg on this acheivment.
  23. I picked up Brian Roberts off the Waiver list while he was red hot.
  24. Hahahahahahahahaha, winning by default rocks. Actually, everybody saw my name in the contest, got scared, and did not submit an entry. (in reality, its a good thing everybody forgot. Because there are alot of holes in my scenario.)
  25. Yea, It was a real quiet deadline because, IMO, there are far far too many teams still in the running. Look at the wild card in both leagues. They are really bunched up at the top. My guess is, as some of the teams begin to fade out, more trades will happen.
