  1. Nit: The first highlight is from Game 1, which we lost. That was the only game of the series in which we wore gray. [expletive] youre right, and I even thought that when I was looking for a gif but then somehow forgot when i selected the final gif. For shame
  2. Sorry I couldn't help myself (this isn't negative to the cubs but funny) (whoops) https://twitter.com/jamfan40/status/794028664438587392 https://twitter.com/jamfan40/status/794068472842113024
  3. I like Porter, but we need to be careful about drafting players with back issues. I'm sure the Bulls will do a full physical and MRI on him. I want to avoid drafting a player who is chronically injured. Porter has a high ceiling, but he also has a low floor (could bust). We all remember how much potential Jabari Parker had, and injuries have taken their toll on him. He's not the same player anymore and that's why Milwaukee will let him walk. I am worried about Porter's health and slightly above-average athleticism. There's the problem with where the Bulls are at and where they are drafting. They have no superstar, no go-to guy, they go safe and they might get a 5th guy in their rotation or more likely 6th-7th man. That does nothing. They need a superstar, they've failed miserably at getting that in FA, they need to do it in the draft. They're probably better off having the pick bust and stay around 25 wins rather than drafting a guy who might help them get to 30 wins. I want them to draft guys with the highest ceilings, if that comes with the biggest risk, it's what they have to do. This exactly. At their spot in the draft and in their position, to get a potential superstar you have to get one with risks. Many had Porter #1 on their draft boards before the season started.
  4. My gif theme is going to be 2016 Playoff Highlights. Need to post them one last time since apparently we're supposed to let it go now. Here's one from all 11 games the Cubs won: NLDS: NLCS: World Series:
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] Jesus that’s all you need to know about anything. About 3 hours after the Cubs won the World Series he is bitching about a November NBA game.
  6. It’s fine to be disappointed and frustrated. To call the team with the 2nd best RD in the NL a “bad team” is another thing entirely. RD is not a sure bet predictor of how good a team is (although it’s not a bad one) but it tells me there’s a good team in there
  7. Look at how effortlessly Ian Happ strikes out
  8. So 7 ERs for Carl in his last 2.1 IP. Dead arm maybe?
  9. If this runner scores it will be the 3rd straight appearance that Carl has given up a run. That’s...strange.
  10. Have been out of town so haven’t really watched the last few games but seeing these low scores again. Cubs going through another offensive drought or just facing some good pitching?
  11. Guess you can’t sustain 1.000 ops without walking ever for too long
  12. I like the wheel idea. It’s not perfect but I think it’s the best way to eliminate tanking. Although it would suck to wait 30 years for the #1 pick and then end up having it in a poor draft year. How about the wheel but instead of each pick once every 30 years, you put 5 groups of 6 teams together. Group 1 has a random draw for picks 1-6. Group 2 has a random draw for picks 7-12, etc etc. it at least puts some luck back into it and every 5 years you have a chance at the number 1 pick.
  13. I think he just uses the board to vent. He goes over the top and is a villain in the eyes of some here, but he really does appear to be a big Cubs fan and just needs to write his feelings down. Like, he's not hoping they lose, he instead desperately wants them to win. That Dodgers comeback wasn't very quality, though, but I really believe he knows that. Well he does the same thing on Twitter but for all Chicago teams so it’s not just NSBB. He goes out of his way to spread negativity on multiple outlets
  14. I was gonna say something about the Cubs run scored but then I realized it was on a strikeout
  15. Ouch. Thank god we had hurricane conditions in that one game against the Braves
  16. This is super creepy
  17. Wasted an entire season and the Bulls aren’t going to get a star in the draft. Guess we either get lucky in draft or FA or suck for a lot longer
  18. yes but for reasons that go beyond just overreacting to baseball games
  19. It can be done. I used to be one of the worst ninny's on the board. I remember one time in....2008 after a loss that you called me the worst whiner on the board or something like that. Some will probably say I'm still a ninny, but I like to think I improved a lot over the years. aha...because I have no life I found it. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49614&start=25 God reading back on that thread I really was the most pathetic member of the woe is us club, why did i even link that for the world to see
  20. For sure, its been incredibly less live or die since winning the WS, but it had already been trending that way for years. But it also helps that I don't treat the game threads like a stream of consciousness. I still have irrationally pessimistic thoughts go through my head sometimes I just...deal with them better. Edit: But I'll admit they still creep out sometimes. And Sofa is there waiting to pounce when they do

  22. I’m calling it. We’re winning this one and Yu is going to dominate.
