    2019 is a club option at $19m. So, he may not have a choice. He's saying if the Cubs bought out his contact and tried to negotiate a club friendly deal to bring him back. Good point Tim. If he continued to pitch like an ace the rest of this year, I'd be open to a 2 year deal with a team option for year 3 with a nice buyout, but if he wants 3 years guaranteed, I'd just pick up the option for next year.

    Beat him in July, we can beat him again* *by beat him I mean try to get him out of the game after 7 innings max and hope Cole matches him nearly pitch for pitch like he did Scherzer.
