Surprised they didnt DL Heyward and call KB up today to get his bat in the lineup an extra game. Maybe they want him to have 1 more day of rest after his rehab assignment before the stretch run. Anyways, lineup:

Yes the Cardinals will probably not win the division but it could get uncomfortably close with the long road trip against .500 and above teams and the back end of 23 in a row while the Cardinals play the Reds, Tigers, Nationals and Pirates. But once this road trip is over, 16 of the Cubs final 19 games will be played in Chicago so we should be able to put them away before the final series.

You scored 3 runs in the first 2 innings off a top 5 cy young candidate, losing would be a disappointment. Especially considering the Cardinals lost last night so they aren’t due to lose again until mid-September

yes 4th but this was the "3rd preseason game" But it’s not weird to rest your starters when they’ve already had three games. People are overreacting to this like Nagy broke some sacred football tradition Usually your starters play a series in the 1st game, most of a half in the 2nd game, into the 3rd quarter in the 3rd game, and sit the 4th. The Bears sat starters the first game, played a series the 2nd game, played most of the half the 3rd game and are sitting them the 4th and 5th games. I don't really mind the decision that much but don't pretend like the starters are getting the same amount of work -
