  1. It’s crazy how some poor Defenders it’s sometimes difficult to see where they cost you runs because it’s just poor range or slow reaction time. But other bad defenders you can start to count the runs that they and they alone have cost the team
  2. Gonna play read the game thread and guess the score before checking. I’m gonna guess 0-0 Edit: I was wrong!
  3. He's at a career low in ERA+ (which is bad) and a career high in WHIP. he's seemingly been trying to come back from injury all season. This will be his 4th consecutive start coming back from his latest injury. Got lit up the first game but had pretty solid 6 IP, 2 ER lines the other 2 games. This will probably be something similar to the last time we saw a Hendricks/Strasburg matchup (NLDS Game 1) where both pitchers matched 0's until the Cubs could finally break though.
  4. I've run out of ways to describe how awesome Javy is. He is God's gift to Cub fans
  5. Normally rainouts make me sad but the Cubs haven't had a day off in over two weeks, so bring on the rain. The only 2 reasons I'd consider disagreeing: -Is a day off and a doubleheader better than finishing up this death march for another week? (it could be, just positing) -If they don't play a double header and are unable to make up the game, the Cubs end with an odd looking record which I hate
  6. Strop has had his blowups too though and occasionally struggles with control. Maybe not as frequently or as bad as Carl but Carl has better overall stuff when he's on, and when he's off its mostly a control thing, he still doesnt usually get hit hard. I dunno I guess there is no ideal answer, and Strop has been mostly fine as closer and certainly has paid his dues in the Cubs pen.
  7. Man I miss the NCAA Football games
  8. You got that half right. I find it funny people throwing around "must win" for this game when a virtually identical scenario happened last year and we easily overcame it. If you recall, the Cubs came into a series with the Brewers on September 8-10 with a 5 game lead - the largest of the season. They then got pantsed by the Brewers and left the series with a 2 game lead. Everyone freaked out, but the Cubs responded by going 15-4 to close out the year and had 4 meaningless games to close the season. This year the series was from September 3-5, the Cubs came in with a season high 5 game lead etc etc. Oh well doesn't matter we won the last game so the scenario is a bit different now.
  9. Dumb question, but would you consider shifting around the bullpen roles with it looking less likely Morrow will be back? Strop is fine as a fill in closer, but I think he works better as a setup guy who can come in mid-inning and get out of a jam, or face down the heart of an order in the later innings. I guess I'm not really too sure who should replace him though, maybe Cishek?
  10. Strasburg has not been too sharp since coming back from his latest injury. 9 runs allowed in 16 innings. Hopefully it takes him at least another start to find his rhythm
  11. 7 more games left in our death march and 7 more games away from the city of Chicago this regular season
  12. Didn’t KB learn not to double pump before throwing after Monday?
  13. Glad to see another teams batter being super aggressive in a big spot for once
  14. Oh yeah Carl who can’t throw strikes lately, that’s who you want to bring in with multiple runners on to close out the game
  15. Can you believe Strop is going to be closing playoff games
  16. I can respect KB running on contact there. Who would have ever expected Almora to hit something hard?
  17. Now that’s how a real man hits it to right centerfield
  18. That’s not fair. That’s as far as he can hit it
  19. It never fails to amaze me how casual MLB fielders are at catching routine fly balls in big spots.
