  1. Better to know that now to give me time to switch providers before opening day. Or maybe I just stream the games, whatever.
  2. Amazing. I was going to make a post the other day about how its strange that we haven't heard a peep about Russell signing anywhere, even as a minor league FA. Figured some shitty team out there would take a chance on him. But then I though 'horsefeathers Addison Russell, he doesnt deserve any more discussion here'
  3. I can't like this enough. Does anyone really pay attention to the tickers anymore? My favorite is "BREAKING NEWS: [something that happened 6 hours ago]"
  4. Seriously just commit to the rebuild. We’ve tried to scrap together competitive teams for the last couple seasons and have nothing to show for it and our old core is 2 years older
  5. Sure its possible. But if you let him to go Vegas and they go on a long playoff run led by him, I doubt he's willing to come back to a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 3 years and sign for less than what he was paid last year. He was willing to sign here long term up until a few hours ago, if we are to believe the reports. And while he's had a better year than Fleury this year, I doubt he's going to Vegas to take the job away from him going into the playoffs. I'm just saying, there's always a risk when you let someone leave. He could fall in love with Vegas or playing for a winning hockey team and decide that he doesn't want to come back to a team that is not positioned to compete likely anytime soon. But then again, maybe that's fine....really not going to change the team's trajectory much either way.

  7. Fire Bowman now.....to the sun
  8. Knew this was coming but sucks. Interested to see what Hawks do at goaltender next year with Crawford coming off the books.
  9. Is it normal for a network like this to launch with such little programming? Seems like they have 3-4 shows produced and they are showing them again and again along with the Cubs game that day which is shown 3 times. Tomorrow night they have a college basketball game (Dayton vs. George Mason) so I guess they have some agreements to show alternate programming.
  10. Not even that bad with the technology we have. Bilasport always has the best stream with no popups and I can easily cast to my TV. Not even that angry about Xfinity not coming to terms yet
  11. It’s cool. I’d like it if they showed slash lines when putting up the batter graphic instead of BA/HR/RBI/OPS though
  12. We don’t have to be...
  13. Unless Black Monday is the offseason thread, I didn't see one so far, so I am creating it. This CBA proposal for 17 game season is nuts. Are they really going to make it so that some teams play 9 home games and 8 road games and others play 8 home games and 9 road games and then compete head to head for playoff spots? I'm wondering if they are going to try to have a 19 week season, 8 home games, 8 road games, 2 bye weeks and every team plays 1 neutral site game (like London). You get the 2 weeks back by shortening the preseason to 2 games instead of 4 (or 3 games and just start the preseason a week earlier). This way teams don't have to forfeit home games every year to ensure we have 3+ games in London.
  14. Not sure. I read he was spotted in town this weekend. He hosted a party for his birthday somewhere in Little Village. Has he not appeared at any events?
  15. I too welcome this as an excuse to rewatch
  16. There's an article on The Ringer today about the 88 All Star game in Chicago and apparently the weather was even worse for that one, with overnight lows near -20 and with wind chill -60. So I guess it could be worse?
  17. I think that's what made it awesome to me. So many times in the playoffs we would be a victim of bad fortune or would go down with a whimper. But this time the breaks went our way. Plus at that time I think most of us were worried that Javy wouldnt even put the ball in play in a situation where it was critical for him to. Even if he hits it a little to the left or right, it definitely scores the run and probably advances the tying run to 3rd base with 1 out. Putting the ball in play in a situation where the opponent is doing everything possible to avoid it, especially when the count is 0-2, is worthy of being considered swag to me. I think you might be confusing a couple of the ABs...Contreras came up with 2nd and 3rd after the Zobrist double and hit through a partially drawn in infield. Then you had the Heyward failed bunt, which now when I think of that I picture Javy doing that in the top of the 9th of game 7 with a guy on third, which ended with him at second, and then Javy came up and singled to take the lead. It was definitely nice to get the breaks, but it was a real frustrating game until the very end. Whoops I got the Willson and Javy ABs out of order you're right. I must be getting old
  18. Hilarious timing because I believe its been one of the warmest winters on record up to this point.
  19. I LOVE the comeback against SF. Javy, Zo, and Willy were so swaggy. It's tempered a little bit by the fact that Javy and Willy basically hit 17 hoppers that barely reached the center fielder, and this was after Matt horsefeathering Moore essentially shut us down for 8 innings. But yeah, that Zobrist double was definitely...the second coolest double he had. I think that's what made it awesome to me. So many times in the playoffs we would be a victim of bad fortune or would go down with a whimper. But this time the breaks went our way. 20. that's the problem with defenses, you can't hide weaknesses, and once guys begin to age, the weaknesses abound. Yeah its more simple than saying Mel Tucker made a historically (at least within the given timeframe) elite defense into absolute garbage. But he definitely was a big part of it IMO.
  21. I know most Bears fans know he sucked, but just how much he sucked is legendary. In 2012, the Bears were 1st in Defensive DVOA and ranked among the best defenses since the statistic was created in 1991. In 2013 with Mel Tucker, they fell all the way to 31st in Defensive DVOA. There were some changes (Urlacher retiring being a big one) and some injuries but most of the defense was the same.
  22. https://theathletic.com/1600638/2020/02/11/details-emerge-about-carlos-beltrans-role-in-the-2017-astros-clubhouse-and-the-teams-sign-stealing-scheme/ Don't describe to The Athletic, can anyone tell me if this is as damning for Beltran as Twitter is making it out to be?
