  1. Figured there should be a game thread up for the 3 upcoming games. I know the intrasquad games have been televised but it doesn’t feel worthy to discuss until there is another team involved. Hendricks on the bump tonight at Wrigley vs the White Sox. Game will be on ESPN outside of the Chicago area, Marquee for the 7 people that get the network and the Sox broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago for the rest of us. Will be on 670 as well for your listening pleasure. Cubs lineup in what might be the first game with a DH in Wrigley Field history (though its possible those old Sox exhibition games back in the day used a DH, can’t remember) I believe Yu will go tomorrow against the Sox at GRate and then Lester will go Wednesday against the Twins (slotting Chatwood in as the 3rd starter (holy hell how did it come to that?) Edit: Apparently Happ is in at CF now instead of Albert
  2. No, just wishfully thinking I'd guess
  3. Fitting that the last regular season game at Wrigley Field for probably at least a couple of the championship core (Bryant, Baez, Rizzo, Lester, Schwarber, Russell) will be against the Cardinals.
  4. Who wants a 2021 schedule?? Won't get the Red Sox and Yankees games that we would have gotten this year, nor will we get a rescheduled London Series but that's not a surprise.
  5. More sorrow for Morrow
  6. So weird because he was a somewhat serviceable hitter circa 2017 and legit raked against LHPs. I remember in Game 3 of the NLDS vs the Nats, he PH in a key spot against a LHP and I felt confident in the matchup and he came through. But since July 18 he’s been an abomination and legitimately terrible against lefties. 2017: RHP - .711 OPS in 198 PA LHP - .898 OPS in 125 PA 2019: RHP - .707 OPS in 249 PA LHP - .532 OPS in 114 PA 114-125 PA is still a smallish sample size but I’d guess the batted ball numbers and all that would confirm how bad he was. Anyways while I don’t have much hope in him, the little I do have is rooted in the fact he came up to the majors as a guy who could hit lefties, then showed it in his first 2 seasons before falling off a cliff randomly. Hopefully he can fix this and become a passable MLB hitter
  7. I bet if you went out there and kicked ass like the 2016 Cubs, they’d keep everyone together* *oh wait I forgot about PTR
  8. AL Central games: White Sox - 6 Royals - 4 Indians - 4 Twins - 3 Tigers - 3 Cardinals get 10 games against the Royals and Tigers, 2 teams that lost over 100 games last year, the Cubs get 7 Cardinals have 10 games against the 3 teams likely playing for a playoff spot in the Central (Twins, Indians, White Sox) while the Cubs have 13. In a 60 game season that is a pretty big advantage. I really don’t see why they felt the need to pigeon hole 2 extra games for your “natural rivals” creating all kinds of schedule imbalances. If they kept it at 4 games, all the teams in the division would have the exact same schedules.
  9. Xfinity has one extra day to get a deal done
  10. Seems promising: He actually had some good quotes on a number of topics if you read Jesse’s recent feed
  11. Update: Boob deleted his tweet because it was very misleading. Here is the quote in its proper context:
  12. He's still on the team in my RTTS. He's mediocre, put up like a 4.25 ERA or something, but our offense is otherworldly so he went like 18-2 last season, lol. Also odd, Ian Happ is rated as an 82 OVR but he keeps putting up insane WAR's. He's averaged like 6 WAR or more each year for the last 3 years, but nothing about his overall numbers (offense or defense) or his ratings suggest he's that good and I have no idea why. He's out WAR'ing Yelich who is putting up like .320/.400/1.000 with 40Hr and 100 RBI each season while Happ is putting up .280/.370/.900 with 25HR and 80RBI Maybe he’s the greatest baserunner in MLB history
  13. There's been some speculation that Mike Trout might opt out of 2020 season, and this quote certainly makes it seem like that's a possibility: Meanwhile...uhh Joe: https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/1279085563031650304
  14. And the first injury of Summer Camp 2020 goes to.... I'd imagine this will cause him to not be available on Opening Day unless he was already well into his throwing program during the hiatus.
  15. I don’t think it will be a huge deal but there is comfort and familiarity playing at the stadium you play at 40+ times a year, not to mention they are used to the ice conditions and how the boards play etc. Plus even if they are in a bubble, they are still in their home city. Again it’s not a huge deal but it is a slight advantage for the Oilers.
  16. Surely that means the Hawks series will be played in Edmonton, meaning it will be similar to having home ice for the Oilers
  17. Not sure, but I did see an article from Heyman after my above post that said that Rizzo would be in the group that could opt out without risk of losing their prorated salary or service time but that at this point he plans to play.
  18. Yeah, definitely a concern but the way Rizzo has been working out during the hiatus, it doesn’t seem like he’s preparing to opt out. Lester has been interviewed a few times too and also doesn’t seem hesitant. That said, things might have changed since the MLB isn’t going the bubble route. If they do opt out, I 100% support it obviously
  19. ESPN broke down the inside details from the 2010 FA saga better than I’ve seen before. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29375065/the-decision-high-stakes-maneuvers-lebron-james-dwyane-wade-chris-bosh?platform=amp&__twitter_impression=true Sounds like it was really down to Chicago and Miami. Miami already had the moves ready to go to clear a 3rd max slot. The Bulls might have been the team if they could find a suitable trade of Deng but nothing was as locked in as what Miami had in place. Also cited as reasons: Rose not involved in recruiting, and Noah’s “acrimonious” relationship with LeBron (Noah apparently tried to reach out to LeBron to recruit and the call went unreturned). Clearly the 4 Finals appearances and 2 titles means that the Heatles were some degree of a success, but I cant believe they only win 2 titles with a starting 5 of Rose, Wade, James, Bosh, Noah
  20. I take it Morrow is hurt again? Maybe he will show up when the rest are announced
  21. This might be dumb logic but even though Descalso sucks I’d think you want to have all the major league caliber players as possible on your 40 to replace those that go down with COVID.
  22. Thought it was interesting reading today that the Chicago Dogs of whatever independent league they are in are going to have a season that starts in 8 days and they are planning on having fans at their home games in Rosemont. Tickets are on sale and everything for the first home game on July 7th
  23. If they held the season in a bubble like the NBA and NHL they might have had a shot but it’s difficult to see there not being massive losses of players during the season. I think this will end up being a massive disaster.
  24. Ahh yes thats what I meant. I was checking it out back in March before the world turned on its head. As much as I was tempted to watch some of the classic games for a week on Marquee, I have held off signing up for a trial until a season started.
