  1. Crazy thing is, the Red Sox were also given a ton of crap for not fixing their holes at the deadline, but they're 21-6 in their last 27 and have won 7 in a row.
  2. I've luckily hit that point where I'm not even upset when the Cubs lose. 6-9 in their last 15, I guess the losses don't have as much impact on me.
  3. Don’t feel great about Shota facing the middle of the Reds order for a 3rd time at over 90 pitches but I guess you have to stretch them sometimes after essentially a bullpen game
  4. Man I don’t think I’ve ever seen a run like the Brewers are on. They aren’t just winning nightly, they’re usually up multiple runs within the first couple innings and don’t give it back. The dodgers had a hotter stretch in 2018 but still this is wild
  5. Season back on: Just a reminder he has a 12.66 ERA this year, -0.7 bWAR and has last 2 appearances for the Cubs: 5 ER in 2 IP vs Seattle 3 ER in 0.1 IP vs San Diego
  6. But shouldn't the fact that most good teams are playing poorly right now besides the Brewers emphasize that this stuff happens over the course of a season? Even the magical Brewers played sub-500 baseball the first 6 weeks. Yeah this isn't the 2016 Cubs, but they don't have to be. Just make it in, be hot when the playoffs start and we'll see what happens.
  7. Also - they're cursed...except for the one year that they randomly weren't
  8. Maybe sit him tomorrow with the off day Thursday to give him 2 straight days off, but then again we're facing a tough lefty in Abbott so tough to leave him out of the lineup even if he's been awful. Unfortunately there's not a lot of great options, he just needs to figure it out again. He's always been pretty streaky so hopefully he's at the tail end of his slump and ready to bust out again.
  9. Just sucks because if the Cubs were in any other division in baseball they'd at least be tied for 1st (percentage points ahead). But because they are in a division with a team that has won 76% of their games since late May, everything feels like it's falling apart even though it's really not. They're in a slump but they literally just won a series 2 days ago (1 pitch from sweeping) and have won 2 of their last 3 series overall. They definitely have holes/issues and the deadline was a disappointment but it's not as bad as it feels at this point.
  10. Maybe. To me he slowed up because he realized he was missing the bag and if he took another full stride he'd miss the bag again on the next step.
  11. I'm not sure why people keep saying PCA is "ice cold" right now. Yes he had a bad weekend and is 0 for his last 10 with 8 strikeouts, no doubt terrible. But his 6 games prior to the last 3 he had a 1.036 OPS. I think with PCA there are just certain pitchers that he doesn't hit well against, but outside of the first 2 weeks of the season he's largely avoided lengthy slumps. His season OPS has hovered between .840 and .870 pretty much the entire year.
  12. I mean it’s not I agree. Just kind of crazy that his horrific slump is still a .710 OPS for him. Meanwhile Seiya is somewhere around .480 over a similar time frame
  13. The worst thing is we know a ton of posters at Brewerfanatic read this forum since Brock owns them both and they have to be reading these threads nightly and enjoying the hell out of it.
  14. They might crawl back but its kind of weird to say "I told you so" about a team thats currently 6.5 games behind the Cubs.
  15. you'll get over it when they win a few games again. I know the feeling when the team giving us dopamine hits nightly stops giving us those dopamine hits you get angry and think negatively. And it feels like Seiya will never stop slumping and everything will go wrong forever because it has for a bit (if 6-8 in last 14 is awful). But its not as bad as it seems
  16. The Brewers have played 124-38 pace baseball for 40% of an entire 162 game season. Time to ignore the Brewers until the Cubs give us a reason to pay attention again.
  17. 1 run win 1 run loss 2 run win (tied going into B9) 1 run loss
  18. Crazy that we're 1 pitch and 1 inch from being 3-0 on the homestand and going to extra innings tonight.
  19. Castro, the guy who is mid against righties and very good against lefties has had 1 AB so far against a lefty
  20. horsefeathers that off day Thursday can't come soon enough for Seiya
