  1. And now every Cubs starter has an ERA over 4
  2. Ugh come on Adbert, you are supposed to be our ace He seems like he’s throwing a ton of hanging breaking balls. I’m wondering if he has a dead arm. Maybe a 10 day DL stint may be in order. Or maybe I’m overreacting to 2 innings against one of the best offenses in baseball
  3. Yeah but if it’s like the Clippers vs Nets it’s not going to feel very novel since they are just manufactured super teams that will wear jerseys that don’t match their historical team colors
  4. Say what you want about Berhalter, that was one great sub tonight!
  5. VAR SUCKS
  6. I’ve got chills
  7. Always been a huge fan of VAR
  8. Thank you Arizona for going 1-7 against the Cardinals and Brewers recently. I’m sure you will be just as ice cold when the Cubs come to town
  9. Heyward was an interesting case because he didn’t have an Uber elite bat but added a ton of value with his glove and legs while presumably having at least an average bat. He was in his mid-20s too so you shouldn’t have expected a decline at least in the first half of the contract. It seemed like a pretty safe bet that he would provide enough value to not be a disastrous signing provided he didn’t fall off a cliff with his bat. But of course his hitting fell off a cliff Even still he’s been a 1-2 win player each year. Terrible for what he was getting paid but decent for someone with his batting line.
  10. *sees Heyward coming up against a lefty* Oh well we got 1
  11. 1st and 3rd 0 outs and 2-3-4 coming up. Hopefully we get at least 1 here Edit: whoops was on a delay, KB already struck out lol
  12. Smart of Jed to trust the process and know that eventually the starting pitching will fail them
  13. It definitely feels like the steroids scandal in that we are seeing these massive jump in statistics and people try to find logical reasons behind it when in actuality it is massive cheating and in like 10 years we will be looking back at it thinking “duh of course that’s why” The rise of every non-Cub pitcher throwing 98+, contact rates and batting averages plummeting, strikeouts at absurd levels. Sure launch angle and better technology for identifying and developing pitchers, etc can contribute to this but it’s hard to believe such a dramatic shift in baseball over the last 3+ years is solely due to those things.
  14. 12 total hits the first 2 8/9 games of the series
  15. The Padres must hate us. Get swept out of 1st by the Cubs who then turn around and lose 3 straight (if we don’t come back and obviously there’s still plenty of time to do that) to the team that passed them.
  16. It’s weird how our pitching was amongst the worst in the league in April, towards the best in the league in May while June is to a poor start
  17. I can only assume this was referencing Southside Tony. What a dink. It's been deleted. Context?
  18. Oh dear https://twitter.com/fido1084/status/1401240959342481413?s=21
  19. Who the horsefeathers are these guys donging against the Cubs? Jason Vosler and LaMonte Wade Jr. Seriously how are the Giants doing this? I don’t remember hearing about the Giants having a bunch of prospects coming up. All of their starters look like they’re having career years. Weird horsefeathers
  20. That’s the most optimistic thing you’ve ever said on this board. I thought you’d be like: now that they’ve dropped the first 2 games of this series they will be lucky to win 1 this series with the weather the next 2 days
  21. And now it’s 6-2 Arrita’s ERA over his last 6 starts: 8.28
  22. They look like a piece of unlicensed merchandise you would buy at Target or something. Awful and bland, easily the worst of the ones that have been released so far.
  23. https://twitter.com/cubs_live/status/1400870536985595904?s=21 Yikes. Hope things are ok for Zobrist and he didn’t blow all his money donating to Trumps election legal fees
  24. Somewhat related, Ravinia has a train stop right outside the venue and after a show - it is a complete nightmare to jump the train. Parking (travel by bus to the lots) is a rodeo as well. Point is - even if there is mass transit, as Tim pointed out - getting a large number of people to leave at the same time is gonna be a nightmare with or w/o mass transit. Right, people point out that Arlington Park has its own Metra stop and use it as a reason why a stadium in Arlington Heights would be easy to get to. It's one Metra stop on one Metra line. While there are cross-suburb highways like 355 and 294, by and large Chicago's infrastructure is built to get people to and from the city. Someone in like Tinley Park doesnt care about the Metra, they care about having to switch highways 3-4 times and then drive on surface streets not designed to send 60,000 people into a concentrated area. 53 is 3 lanes without any shoulders in the area near Arlington Park exit, and I don't think taking Rand or Northwest Highway is going to be any better.
