  1. Rockies had a 4-0 lead over the Brewers in the 7th. Now tied. No wonder this team is 6-28 on the road lol
  2. I just went through them all before seeing the list of those on it and I'm mad at how many I missed: English, Richmond, Aguirre, Moncrief, King, Bowie, Daugherty, Mahorn.
  3. Tuesday I created a game thread making fun of the Cubs offense and they scored 7 runs. Thursday I created a game thread making fun of the Cubs starting pitching and the matchups this weekend and they threw a no hitter. How should I use my powers today? Jason Heyward, Anthony Rizzo, Eric Sogard, Jake Arrieta and others on the Cubs are still unvaccinated and will probably lose this game purely because they are unvaccinated.
  4. So 4 no hitters in 6 seasons and each no hitter had a different catcher behind the plate: 2015: Montero 2016: Ross 2020: Caratini 2021: Contreras
  5. Lol Kimbrel said he had no idea it was a no hitter until 2 outs in the 9th
  6. It is weird the difference in reactions with a combined no hitter. Everyone is still jacked but the celebration is more spread out because there’s not one pitcher to focus on. Either way, pretty cool. I remember before Z’s no hitter it had been forever since the Cubs threw one. Now it’s happened several times
  7. There we go!
  8. He didn’t his last couple of outings from what I could tell. I see it tonight but definitely a lot less obvious. 1 more!
  9. This is cool and all but combined no hitters are only about 30% as cool as a CG no hitter
  10. It’d be especially crazy because he was in Des Moines a few hours ago
  11. Probably the right call but I’m surprised the announcers said nothing (i think) about pulling Davies with a no hitter. He was at 94 pitches so no chance he goes 3 more but usually they make a big deal out of that
  12. Really hope the Cubs failing to score with the bases loaded and 0 outs with our 2-3-4 hitters due up doesn’t come back to bite us
  13. That 6 thru 9. Yikes
  14. No the game hasnt started yet, its a 9:10 game just felt like kicking this off to point out the cringe inducing pitching matchups this weekend: Thursday: Davies vs. Buehler Friday: sucky guy that looks like Jake vs. Tony Gonsolin (should be a bullpen game for them) Saturday: Mills vs. Urias Sunday: Adbert vs. Kershaw Actually wasn't as bad as I thought, but any 4 game series on the road against the defending mickey mouse champions without Hendricks starting is going to look rough going into it. Meanwhile the Brewers jump into a home series against the Rockies who are on pace for a historically bad road record (6-28 so far). If there was ever a time for the Brewers to get some distance on the Cubs its these next 10 days or so with the Cubs starting a 10 game road trip against the Dodgers, Brewers and Reds while the Brewers play vs. Colorado, vs. Cubs and at Pittsburgh. Honestly if the Cubs are within 2-3 games of first by the end of this 10 game stretch id be thrilled.
  15. Growth from Pat Williams and acquiring a PG would push them into playoff territory. Probably not enough to get them past the first round but Knicks fans had a lot to be excited over this year and unless you get another true superstar you usually need to crawl before you run They need some more shooters and big improvement on defense. How realistic are the chances of getting Lonzo? Yeah I'd like to see what a full season with Vuc and Zach looks like god willing they stay healthy. Growth from Williams is something I look forward to seeing but I'm less sure about him than I was mid-season. Bulls also have a ton of expirings that should allow them to improve the team either this offseason or at the deadline. Bulls aren't winning a title anytime soon but they have a decent structure for a plug and play superstar to come in if lady luck smiles in our favor.
  16. Not trying to call you out but that’s harsh, man. That is a godawful situation. I can’t imagine going through that horsefeathers while in the public eye, with kids no less. Yes it sucks and I feel bad for Ben, but what PCP said is 100% true. It doesn't make Ben's situation worse or show a lack of empathy by pointing that out.
  17. Zach, hang out with Dame and Beal and try to convince one of them to force a trade to Chicago. More like the guys on the team recruit Zach to their team and he demands a trade out of town.
  18. I didnt think much of it until I realized that these weren't batting practice/HR derby jerseys, they are the actual jerseys they will wear during the game rather than their traditional uniforms. I can't remember the MLB ever having special ASG jerseys for the game...I always liked players in different uniforms playing on the same field, ugh.
  19. Ryno and Bowa for Dejesus. Derek Lee for Hee Seop Choi wasn' too bad. Aramis Ramirez & Kenny Lofton for Bobby Hill Aramis was interesting. He had already had roughly a full seasons worth of ABs (spread over 3 seasons) before his breakout year in 2001. His line in those first 3 seasons was .239/.290/.364/.654 which is pretty bad but those were his age 20-22 seasons. Then in 2001 he had a 122 OPS+ and looked to be breaking out only to completely regress in 2002 with a 72 OPS+. I seem to remember something about him playing through an injury. He had a partial bounce back for the Pirates in 2003 before the Cubs got him in July. Bobby Hill was a top 50 prospect that we were all excited about but to me seemed more like a high floor low ceiling at a premium defensive position kind of guy. I know some here were very excited but I was very meh. Mentioning this because I can sort of understand why the Pirates were ok giving up Aramis thinking his 2001 was maybe more the outlier than the parts of 5 seasons where he sucked. He had a high upside but a risk to hit that upside. They get a top 50 prospect in return. The Cubs fill their major 3B hole and if his 2003 is a return to 2001 form they have him under control for 3.5 seasons. From the Pirates perspective, I would have held firm at Aramis for Hill. Lofton probably could have gone in a separate trade and they'd have gotten more value for him, and they had no need at all for Jose Hernandez...didn't understand that one. But yeah, Hill turned out to be a AAAA player, Aramis quite suddenly developed into a high end middle of the order hitter, Lofton was a major factor in the Cubs playoff run, Jose Hernandez played baseball I guess, I don't really remember his career after his 2nd Cubs stint. Disastrous trade for the Pirates who sucked for another decade before their brief run of relevance.
  20. End of the Poland-Sweden game was fun. It's a shame that we won't get anymore Lewandowski in this tournament
  21. Pat Foley is retiring after next season (and will be limited next season too). I've lived through plenty of longtime Chicago broadcasters retiring or dying, and none of their departures will effect the broadcast as much as Foley leaving. Hoping we see many stoppages at 3:33 in the 3rd in a 3-3 game next year.
  22. It's a really weird season. Lots of injuries due to short offseason for some plus the condensed season. If LeBron and AD are healthy, or maybe even if Klay doesnt miss the entire season, you probably see the usual suspects winning in the playoffs. If Kyrie and Harden are healthy, they almost certainly get past the Bucks and continue the superteam trend. But maybe we're headed to an age of parity similar to the mid-70's NBA. The Raptors winning the title is still incredible to me and now seeing 4 teams left that all have 50+ year championship droughts including 2 teams that came out of nowhere without top 10 players...just really unexpected for the NBA.
  23. It's almost like the Clippers want to go down 0-2 every series. Would be hilarious if they came back to win another series
  24. The Arrieta trade worked out well Rizzo for Cashner
  25. Good to get 4 runs, still a bit disappointing that the Cubs couldn’t score with a 2nd and 3rd, 0 outs situation
