  1. I'm a loser that just wants something to be happy about. I'm fine if they don't bring back any of them (I guess) but I'd get a little too happy if they did bring back a Javy. I'm the reason why ownership treats the fans with such low regard.
  2. Which former Cub is the closest with Willson? Probably Baez given his comments about effort before the latter was traded. Could see the Cubs signing Javy, yes for baseball, but also to give the fans a jolt of positivity and potentially to entice Willson to stay beyond next season.
  3. The lack of hearing about the Cubs in rumors (I know Stroman and a couple others we were mentioned amount 6-7 teams but for the most part its been quiet) means either they are likely not spending until after the lockout or all the stuff Jed and PTR said about a retool is BS. If its the latter why lie about it..to keep ST renewals high? I'm probably overreacting. The Cubs were probably not going to get a top FA and they hinted at that multiple times. The 1-3 year contract guys are mostly still out there, so perhaps the plan is still in place. It's just so horsefeathering quiet.
  4. I have a feeling this could be similar to the 2014 rankings where TCU dropped from 3rd to 6th despite winning their last game soundly. The committee was reluctant to put Cincinnati anywhere near the top initially until teams started losing. During that time Cincinnati hasn’t played any legit good teams and has looked shaky in a few of them. I bet they are itching to move them out if they have an excuse too. A 1 loss Oklahoma State team coming off back to back wins over top 10-15 teams would give it a strong reason to leapfrog Ok St over Cincinnati even if both teams win and even if Cincinnati beats a fringe top 25 team in Houston. I guess we’ll see
  5. I didn’t expect the Cubs to build a contender but I didn’t think (and still don’t think) they are going to run out a sub $100 payroll. I figured they would pick up at least 2-3 pieces for the “next great Cubs team” though maybe not star pieces. They still have plenty of time to do so. My concern is that PTR is not going to let them spent money until the new CBA is approved and not giving the FO wiggle room in case the market is unexpectedly more active before the lockout. But still plenty of names out there and time running short to sign deals before Dec 1 so maybe it will work out. Just concerning to see how few rumors the Cubs are being mentioned in.
  6. I mean I know this guy called it a report but can we really even call it reporting? I’m definitely not defending him but I was surprised at how much Chicago media picked up on a report from Patch.com based on an anonymous source. I listened to the score interview he did that morning and the guy had no insight, no other details he could give just that an anonymous source at Halas Hall told him. I know he’s a journalist but he’s not a Bears guy and he said up front that he’s just reporting what one source told him. It should have been treated like a rumor not a true report. I think people wanted it to be true so badly they jumped all over it.
  7. Would be so Cubs to remain steadfast on not doing anything until the lockout is over and watch everyone sign beforehand. I'm trying not to be the impatient fan who asks when they are going to sign someone and I know they won't run back an $80m payroll. But give me something to be excited about dammit!
  8. Loss to the heat not bad in isolation but that’s 3 of 4 and 7-7 in last 14 games. (sample size guy is back) I think the Bulls have something but need to make some moves to really make it a good showing. As constructed they are a 45-50 win team I think
  9. Technically I’m pretty sure somewhere in the CFP guidelines there is a line about “when in doubt pick the SEC team” so Bama would be in unless Georgia absolutely destroys them.
  10. Exact scenario I had on Page one except has Georgia beating Bama. There’s no way Georgia is going to miss the CFP and Bama winning would just secure their spot so it actually reduces the chaos. Best realistic scenario for chaos -Iowa over Michigan -Georgia over Bama -Houston over Cincinnati -Oklahoma State over Oklahoma -Baylor over Oklahoma State Now you have: 0 loss Georgia (SEC champ) 1 loss Notre Dame (Not realistic that they lose today) 1 loss Cincinnati 1 loss Houston (AAC champ) 2 loss Alabama 2 loss Michigan 2 loss Ohio State 2 loss Michigan State 2 loss Iowa (Big 10 champ) 2 loss Oklahoma State 2 loss Oklahoma 2 loss Baylor (B12 champ) 2 loss Ole Miss 2 loss Oregon (potentially - Pac 12 champ) 2 loss BYU 2 loss Wake Forest/Pittsburgh (ACC champ) Georgia and ND are locks but anything could happen with the other 2 spots (though you can probably eliminate a half dozen of the above teams)
  11. I said it last week. This is not the same BAMA team, especially at WR. Georgia should be favored by 6 or 7 next week. Well to be fair their best WR (i think) was ejected for targeting on a ST play
  12. Nah, odds are better it'd be Michigan vs Oklahoma State, and Georgia vs Cincinnati. Those four teams work for me. Something different in the playoff. Alabama is losing the iron bowl currently. We may see a CFP without Bama, OSU and Clemson. I think at least 2 of those teams have been in every CFP except 1
  13. Stroud just didn’t look sharp either. He had some good throws but the pressure really flustered him into some bad throws
  14. I’m stunned. I wasn’t hedging my emotions when I said I thought Michigan had no shot. Yes I can be a raging pessimist but this was just resigned fate from being beaten down so much. I haven’t even thought about the Big Ten Championship game
  15. Ok Michigan has to go through this 4th quarter and still win the Big Ten championship (would be so Michigan to get this cathartic win only to lose next week)
  16. 4th time in 5 Ohio State games that Michigan has scored first. In 2017 they were even up 14-0. I’ve seen this game before. Ohio State eventually takes over and wins big Of course as I say that in the back of my head I’m thinking “prove that you’re different”
  17. The racist dude who made the report about Nagy getting fired speaks: https://patch.com/illinois/chicago/did-i-get-bamboozled-bears-or-did-something-change
  18. Not that we want to end up in the playoff but really good draw for CONCACAF today Facing New Zealand most likely.
  19. That's good for the USMNT pot 1 chances. Currently ranked 12th, and now only needs to be top 8 to get seeded Also, the intercontinental draw was made, and the 4th place CONCACAF team will play the Oceania team in a playoff. I'm pretty sure someone on the us soccer reddit did the math and is pretty sure that even if everything goes perfectly the US cant end up in Pot 1. But they might not have taken into account a scenario like this
  20. Yes this is sour grapes and no this probably won’t matter but the back judge who reffed the Michigan Ohio State game in 2016 (JT was short OT loss that cost Michigan a trip to Indy) is being assigned to this game. In 2016 he was involved in 3 major calls against Michigan that the Big Ten later said were incorrect. Oh and this guy is born and raised in Columbus and is a self-proclaimed big Buckeyes fan. For the 2006 game (1v2 both teams undefeated) was not not allowed to be assigned because of his potential bias. Again it probably won’t matter but why invite the controversy by assigning him to the game?
  21. That is not Mustache Man. You got fooled. Now that being said, apparently several LSU-affiliated people have started following Riley on Twitter very recently, so this could very well still happen. I never get fooled on that crap …until now
  22. Damn. Great get for LSU https://twitter.com/brett_mcmunphy/status/1464388743847157762?s=21
  23. See! Look I played him and now he’s dead. Should have let me start Dalton
  24. I wonder why the Bears offense hasn’t score more than 24 points in any game this season
  25. Bears playing for a FG so the Lions can go on a last minute drive to beat the Bears for the 3rd week in a row That is if Santos isn’t too broken to make the FG
