This entire cycle we’ve been talking about clinching before the Costa Rica game and with this result the US will not clinch before the last match day :(

Costa Rica up 2-1 at half. Running through scenarios in my head. If this score holds… If USA wins today - can lose to CR as long as they aren’t blown out If USA draws today - US will need a draw to clinch but will have clinched the playoff If USA loses today - US will need a draw at CR to clinch playoff, win to clinch World Cup. If lose, cannot finish top 3 but will make playoff with Panama loss or tie as long as they stay ahead on GD which they should. I suppose there are scenarios where Mexico also falls apart and plays into these scenarios but assuming it won’t factor in

As bad as they’ve been lately, they’ve won their 2 biggest games during this stretch, games they had to have to stay ahead of the play-in. Gotta give them credit.

Both teams get a possession and in 95% of scenarios we get a winner after 2 possessions unless no one scores. It puts some strategy behind the coin flip. Do you want the first possession where you'll have to force the opponent to score a TD and convert on a 2pt conversation, or the second position where you have control over winning outright -

I’m pretty confident at this point. We don’t want it to come down to the Costa Rica match but if we play like we did today we can get a result down there. Obviously that confidence can collapse quickly against a desperate Panama team but I don’t think it will

Obviously will take the draw but obviously feel a little disappointed given the chances the US had. They looked really gassed at the end, glad they could hold on. 2 shots that are converted 90% of the time. If either is converted we’re talking about a historic win. Reyna is so electric even a casual fan can see the difference between him and other players.

Pretty sure that has been the case at least since the pandemic. Might have done a few road broadcasts of their own before 2020 ST shut down, but yeah. FWIW, the Dodgers broadcast every single spring training game with their own broadcast and tv crews, so its not necessarily a pandemic thing. I think the Cubs are trying to cut costs while saying that every game is broadcast.
