  1. Seems like you pissed him off
  2. You must not have wished him happy birthday
  3. The Ringer did an article ranking every NFL offense earlier this week and then another one ranking every defense using a bunch of FO stats. The Bears ranked 2nd to last on offense and dead last on defense. The offense ranking is whatever, I can understand why it looks bad, but kind of surprised with the defense. Clearly they aren't as good as last year and there are a lot of question marks, but I sort of expected a middle of the road defense, maybe in the 15-20 range, not 32nd. Am I way off here? I guess it depends on how the Roquan situation plays out and whether we keep Quinn and he plays anywhere near as well as last season. But we hired a defensive minded coach and used both of our second round draft picks on the secondary. There's still talent there. (note, the Bears rank 30th on offense but they declined to rank the Browns offense because of the Watson situation. Pretty sure they will be ranked higher than the Bears regardless of how it plays out)
  4. I know Jed hates contracts longer than 4 years but he doesn’t have to keep reminding us of why every time he does go over 4 years.
  5. Bulls schedule released. Looks like they have 3 TNT games, with 1 at home against the Bucks and several other ESPN/NBA TV games
  6. Of the three, Kimbrel is really the dude I feel least strongly about. I left this out of the thread, but I really wonder if you could get Kimbrel cheaper than most other teams and so maybe it just makes sense to roll the dice. I’m leery of any pitcher the Dodgers can’t fix but maybe the Cubs really feel like they have the secret sauce. Britton and Estévez are really fun options and my personal favorites of the three. Kind of crazy that Kimbrel has been absolute garbage since the 2018 playoffs with the exception of 36 insanely good innings for the Cubs when we were looking to trade him. I know there's sample size stuff and ERA being a flawed stat but that 2021 Cubs ERA really jumps out 2019 CHC - 6.53 2020 CHC - 5.28 2021 CHC - 0.49 2021 CWS - 5.09 2022 LAD - 4.57 He was worth 2.5 wins during his 2021 stint with the Cubs and -1 win during the other 3.5 seasons.
  7. Wonder if the Cubs are looking at him as potential future DH. His defensive metrics are absolutely terrible but as a pure hitter he could be useful
  8. I’m legit excited about Nico Hoerner being on the Next Great Cubs TeamTM
  9. I believe the full schedule, with National TV games, is released Wednesday. Will #TNTBulls finally return, or will their unprecedented winning streak continue for another year?
  10. Getsy today said that there was only 1 play from Fields that he didn't like, and that was the play he should have drawn a late hit call. Said he scrambled too soon when his 2nd read was open. But otherwise a strong performance.
  11. Seiya with a slash line of .219/.262/.325/.585 over his last 28 games. Should we just call this a lost season and expect him to be better next year or be concerned?
  12. Sorry Giannis. Been teased way too many times about superstars coming here. You won’t get my hopes up at all.
  13. I'll surely regret this during the upcoming Orioles/Brewers/Cardinals/Brewers/Blue Jays/Cardinals/Reds/Giants/Nets stretch but this team does have some 2014 vibes to it in that they are somewhat fun. The parallels end with 2014's flock of top 10 prospects ready to come up, and this team planning to let one of their best players walk this offseason.
  14. Looks like Keegan couldn’t get out of the 2nd. The time is near to shut him down it seems like. McKinstry with 2 doubles today is promising
  15. If the city is trying to convince the Bears to stay...this isn't a good start. Feels like a petulant "fine if you arent going to stay in Chicago we're not going to keep the field in good condition" by the city. I know Elton John just had a concert there 8 days ago but come on.
  16. Touchdownless halves for Eberflus: 1
  17. Feel like they wanted to get Fields out of the game when the 2nd quarter started. Couple of running plays on 2nd and 3rd and long at midfield. Not that preseason evaluation matters that much but ok performance for Fields. Obviously the 2 passes to Mooney and Sharpe will be what people talk about and for good reason as they were well placed. Seemed like most of Fields passes were to the sidelines or short dump offs. I’d like to see Fields find receivers open in the middle of the field but that’s up to the WR, line and playcalling too.
  18. Good thing Soto is signed for 2 more seasons. That’s kind of depressing, I was looking forward to seeing the Padres at full strength. I think there’s 30 some games left this year. Plus let’s be optimistic so let’s say 10 playoff games. Still looking at 40 games next year
  19. They're also 16-16 in the playoffs since 1984 lol.
  20. So weird, not one of the comments is critical of their Trump support and there are probably a couple hundred. And its not just Trump support its 'i hang out at Mar-A-Lago and golf with Trump'
  21. This must be a big game - the game thread got to 2 pages!
  22. Generally agree but a bit odd of a lineup for a "showcase game" that theoretically is going to be watched by many nationwide. No Contreras, Wisdom or Morel. Contreras and Wisdom are literally on the advertising for the game: Edit: nevermind, you posted yesterday's lineup. Today's lineup has not been released yet as far as I can tell.
  23. By which he means getting 2nd/3rd tier FA and hyping them like they're 1st tier. I think it's funny that Ricketts used the exact same statement last season (active in Free Agency) and ended up with a team that's going to lose 95+ games
  24. The Winter Classic is the highest rated regular season game every year, wouldn’t want something like that. Field of Dreams game was the highest rated regular season game in 16 years That’s fine, I’m just sick of it. If it makes them money and helps spread excitement for hockey, go for it. If the NHL didn’t also do 3-4 other outdoor games a year on top of the Winter Classic it might have kept its novelty.
