    Kelechi Osemele, who is a Pro bowl guard in 2016 and 2017 coming off an injury where he tore tendons in both knees in 2020, worked out with the Bears last week and tweeted this today: He's 33 and hasn't played in 2 years so I wouldn't get too excited but might be good depth to have, and/or another lottery ticket.

    I thought the same way about Fields when he was at OSU. Obviously, he turned out ok. Yeah he turned out ok *looks around nervously*

    Is it just my OSU bias or does Stroud seem like the most inconsistent good QB in the country? Dude makes some amazing throws that most QBs cant make but also makes just as many inaccurate passes.

    The Cubs have to be near some sort of record of most games lost when taking a first score lead in the first 2 innings.

    I mean ratings are meaningless right now, but like most years there's probably a gigantic gap between the top 2-3 and the rest. (though maybe they are much closer based on how things have gone so far tonight) They definitely should. Big Ten seems to be scared of scheduling MAC teams lately. In this case, Michigan dropped the UCLA games in late 2019, not sure who had an open date that close to this season. I don't think Michigan is thrilled with playing UConn, but they care more about the extra home game revenues next year.

    Well at least this weekend ends the stretch of 18 straight games against playoff contenders. After that only 6 more left (3 at Mets and 3 vs Phillies)

    I'm still so confused why Fox took PSU-Purdue instead of OSU-ND for Joe Buck. I guess less competition on Thursday night than Saturday night but still...this is by far the marquee game of the weekend. Fox might laugh last though if OSU wins by 35 and the other game ended up being really good.

    Unfortunately Mr. Career-season-at-age-35 hit a 2 run HR so its 3-2 in the 1st.

    Anyways, about Michigan. Michigan's 2 headed QB experiment is probably going exactly how they wanted it to go. Cade was inaccurate and was either given no chances to throw downfield or was not seeing people downfield. He looked bothered by the competition and made some comments about it after the game. Meanwhile JJ got some garbage time action in and showed everyone the added dimension he brings to the game. While I do think that Cade and JJ may have been neck and neck in camp, I definitely think this was set up for JJ to win the job unless Cade just crushed it. Tough situation since they both have the same eligibility remaining and clearly neither is going to be satisfied being the backup. But it seems like McCarthy is going to be the QB after next week unless he really falls flat on his face.

    Isn’t that what top 10 teams do to G5 schools? Or is this a knock on schedule, which is the only year I can ever remember Michigan not playing a P5/ND NC game. The latter. You won't have to wait long to see them do it again, it's happening again next year Yeah dropped a home and home against UCLA for...reasons. I doubt its because Michigan shied away from competition considering they have a long history of scheduling a fair NC schedule. They do it one year and suddenly they're an SEC team or something. Personally I hate that its like this the next 2 years but I doubt its a trend. You mentioned ND's NC is bad the next couple of years. Why wouldn't UM and ND have scheduled a game for next year?

    Like it or not it’s happening. While I’m very much in favor of this, I’m happy my team made it once in the 4 team format. It’s a cool feeling to be in that final four (until the game started at least). But every other year the lack of parity and the frequency of blowouts made it nearly unwatchable for me. This will be more exciting imo

    In other news that Bears insider is making cryptic tweets. I'm assuming its either a formal announcement on Arlington Heights or Virginia is dying (he previously implied that her health has taken a turn for the worse over the last week)

    Maybe not initially. Cleveland isn't exactly a destination known for keeping or attracting superstars. That said I think most of their players are signed for at least 3 years so might only affect the last 2 years. That's part of why you've gotta bite the bullet on a trade, right? Talking a Mitchell-caliber player onto your team in FA is an uphill battle, though after this year would've probably been easier since they're a pretty surefire playoff team without the injury parade of last year. Ideally you draft one with one of those picks, but I also understand that when you've hit on several successes in a row(Garland, Mobley, Allen, even Sexton being successful enough to have some trade value), that you might need to take advantage of them all being young and under contract. It's a good point. teams in markets that arent LA, Miami, SF and NY have to make moves like this if they are too good to be in a position to draft superstars. Maybe it doesn't work out but they've put themselves in the best position they can be in.

    Not sure I like that trade for the Cavs at all. seems to me like an easy win for the cavs. the firsts aren't going to very good. Maybe not initially. Cleveland isn't exactly a destination known for keeping or attracting superstars. That said I think most of their players are signed for at least 3 years so might only affect the last 2 years. I'm not saying they shouldn't be excited, I just think their ceiling is short of championship caliber, they don't have a top 10 player, they have virtually no valuable draft resources for 5 years, and they play in a market that isn't particularly attractive for FAs. I mean LeBron even had trouble attracting guys to Cleveland earlier in his career. Would I take the Cavs situation over the Bulls? Probably. But even though the Bulls are in basketball hell they are net even on draft picks moving forward (they lose their pick next year but own a future Blazers pick) and 2 of their 3 highest paid players can be off the books after next season should they choose to go that route.

    Yeah, that's kinda where I am. If Fields stays healthy and is actually going to pan out as a franchise QB, the Bears are likely to outperform expectations. I have pointed out way back when in this thread that there have been a few occasions in the last 5 years where a team with similar talent deficiencies have been pretty good unexpectedly. 2019 Ravens and Bills, 2016 Titans. All with 2nd year QBs, a couple with new(er) defensive coaches. Granted Mariota still somehow didn't pan out and Jackson had a historic season on the ground and with passing efficiency, but those teams all won at least 9 games with ugly offensive personnel on paper. I hold out hope for the 2022 Bears to be similar, but I'm certainly not counting on it. You could add Cincinnati 2021 to that list as well. A bit more quality at the skill players, but an terrible Oline and D A bit more quality at the skill positions is understating it considerably

    There is a certain segment of the Bears fanbase on twitter that is convinced we are actually going to be pretty decent and they flood any tweets that are down on the Bears with replies talking them up. I can see a scenario where a bunch of things go right for them (Fields is so good he's able to make teammates better, Poles is an offensive line savant and the line is actually decent, Eberflus has a Lovie style impact on the team, good injury luck, easier schedule), but I still see them as a 5-6 win team, with the ability to win as few as 3 or as many as 9 games in the most extreme outcomes. And that's fine for this year I guess. I want the team to be good and be good quickly but it was never constructed that way IMO and even if they are bad there are things I can definitely look forward to watching. Very similar to the Cubs this year as we knew they were probably not good, though there was a narrow pathway where they could have been decent, but regardless there are things worth watching even though they are bad.
