  1. Just for fun....some of the surprising week 1 storylines I see from last year -Steelers beat the Bills (Bills one of the best teams in NFL; Steelers snuck into the playoffs but very mediocre) -Seahawks blew out the Colts (Seahawks finished 7-10, albeit missing Russ, Colts narrowly missed playoffs) -Lions were surprisingly competitive against the 49ers (similar to this year. Lions finished with #2 pick, 49ers went to NFC Champ game) -Cardinals crush Titans (Titans were AFC number 1 seed, Cardinals slid and ended up getting crushed in playoffs) -Saints absolutely destroy the Packers (Packers NFC number 1 seed, Saints narrowly miss playoffs)
  2. The AL Central race should be interesting between the White Sox and Guardians. As it sits now, the White Sox are 3 games behind with 21 to play. However, since there are no longer 1 game tiebreakers in place and neither team is likely to be in a wild card position, the winner of that tiebreaker is pretty important. Right now the White Sox are 6-9 against the Guardians with 4 head to head games left. If the Guardians win 1 of those 4 games, they win the tiebreaker.
  3. I'm in the same boat but hey if the Bears could somehow win this game, their next few games are against the Texans, Giants, Vikings, Commanders, Patriots and possibly Dak-less Cowboys. Maybe looking at 4-4 or 5-3 almost halfway through the season. Still just taking it game by game though and looking for improvements from Fields.
  4. I'm seeing the Packers as 9.5 point favorites for this one which seems fine even if the Bears won and the Packers looked incredibly bad. Bears and Packers have played a lot of primetime games in recent years and most of them have not been pretty. Hopefully this one is different. One last look at Week 1:
  5. Damn, I was always hoping he would turn into something as I thought he was a steal in the 6th round. Obviously didn’t show it enough behind the scenes
  6. Think he was psyched out by the field too. He just physically looked like he didn't want to be out there. After the first missed one (2nd TD iirc), I'm still a tad shocked they didn't go for two after the third TD Meh, unless the conditions really deteriorated, we saw Gould kick and XP and 25 yard FG and Santos also hit his first XP. I know there was the pregame slip by one of the kickers practicing kicks and of course the previous missed XP, but we'd already seen 3 kicks made so kicking an XP doesn't seem like an impossible task. Think he just overcompensated for going wide right on his previous attempt.
  7. Jenkins was graded 8th amongst guards yesterday. Not sure how snap count affects the grade at all since he was splitting snaps with Patrick
  8. lol that's certainly an interesting theory. While I don't really believe that was what happened, the way he threw the towel right in front of the ref basically and kind of stared at him for an extra second would support this. But we've seen kickers drill 47 yard FGs in blinding snowstorms and I think an NFL kicker should be expected to have a reasonable chance of hitting that kick, or at least reasonable enough to attempt the kick when you are struggling to move the ball and put points up.
  9. Damn...highest graded rookie, not just on the Bears but the entire league. I have to be honest, he's maybe the draft pick I've thought about the least for whatever reason.
  10. Wesneski definitely not as sharp as his first outing. Another HR
  11. Guessing they figured going up against SNF Week 1 they would just throw 2 historic teams out there at a historic ballpark and then just throw a bunch of horsefeathers at the wall to see what sticks. But they could have easily done like Braves/Mariners and did the same stuff.
  12. Figured I’d keep the game thread streak going
  13. And everyone in this thread especially me during the game lol
  14. Mitch update: Fields has more passing yards now
  15. Ugh that missed XP better not matter
  16. I’ll have to take a look but I doubt that. Of course it's a real rule, just one that no one has ever thrown a flag on before How many times have you seen a holder use a towel to dry the field and a flag isn’t called?
  17. Touchdownless halves under Eberflus/Poles: 1
  18. The 49ers aren’t even really throwing the ball downfield much either but they are making creative play calls that are catching the bears off guard. Of course it helps that the 49ers can like block and stuff
  19. Bad time to point out that Mitch currently has a 139 QB rating so far today?
  20. 49'rs score, the game is over I don’t really care. This is a rebuilding year. Give Fields a chance to develop or show that he’s not the guy
  21. Really hope the 49ers score here so we can flip field position. The Bears literally just punted on an entire possession because they are scared fields is going to make a bad mistake
  22. First quarter under Getsy and Fields does not complete a pass that isnt a dump off
