  1. Not only that but their first team defense hasn’t given up a point yet this year. 17 points in 3 games all in garbage time with backups. But trying to not get ahead of myself though. People think I’m nuts for worrying about the game at Kinnick in 2 weeks but that’s an absolute house of horrors for Michigan and while the talk is rightfully about the Iowa offense their defense has only given up 13 points and they’ve played a solid P5 team. If the defense can show up against Michigan and punch them in the mouth for the first time all year then it could end up being a nerve wracking game at the very least. Then it’s taking care of business at home against PSU and MSU. PSU looks solid and MSU is a thorn in Harbaughs side. I love what I’ve seen so far though I am not sure anyone not named Georgia is good enough to go undefeated in the B1G East Michigans schedule is staggered in a way where they either get PSU/MSU at home and OSU on road or the opposite. Plus they get either Wisconsin or Iowa from the West almost every single year. I don’t think Michigan will go undefeated but the schedule is favorable until Columbus. Not saying PSU and MSU will be easy games, just that they’re both at home thus theoretically easier

  3. This time last year Frank was on top of the world. Now he’s unemployed. Completely expected due to among other things the 40 man crunch. Wesneski tries to give the Cubs a shot in the arm with his first MLB start
  4. Every time I turn on a White Sox game, Len Kasper is the TV PBP guy. It is just a complete coincidence that I happen to turn on games that he’s calling or is he doing a lot of TV? What happened to Benetti? What happened to Len’s dream of becoming a radio guy? Edit: I just realized Benetti has a variety of other jobs including college football but this has been going on longer than just the last couple of weeks
  5. 2 Bears in the top 7. Not bad for not having a 1st round pick.
  6. Stro pitching, Bryant still hurt like he has been most of the year unfortunately. Cubs up 1-0 in the 3rd

    NFL Week 2

Any idea why there are 2 games on MNF this week but not staggered like they’ve traditionally done in week 1? Bills/Titans starts at 6:15 on ESPN while Eagles/Vikings starts at 7:30 on ABC. Seems weird to have the games competing against each other even if the times are somewhat staggered.
  8. lmao apparently Martz's remarks were really meant for Lance?
  9. No one is saying what he's done so far is acceptable. Some QBs like Herbert come in ready to be great, some like Russell Wilson can be adequate on day one but still improve, some like Josh Allen struggle but have enough strong qualities that allow them to develop into something great with good coaching. It remains to be seen if he falls into that 3rd grouping or if he belongs in the QB graveyard which is about 30% made up of former Bears QBs. You are also counting 1 game where Fields took I believe 3 total snaps, and 2 games where he only played half the game (Cincinnati and Baltimore). Even if you adjust for that the numbers still aren't acceptable, but they are more in line with what Josh Allen did in his first 17 games.
  10. Nitpicky but Pettis didn't exactly sit down in the end zone... he found a wide open window when the DBs near him started cheating towards Fields anticipating a scramble. It was a defensive breakdown but he did a good job recognizing that and finding an open spot. Also he caught it at the 30 and made a pretty nice run with minimal blocking to get into the end zone so he had to do more than just get under the ball and catch it. Pettis did exactly what he should have done, when the play broke down he sat in a part of the field that left him wide open. is that better? but I think they were playing a zone defense......nitpicky or not my bad, reading comprehension is an issue for me at times. I read end zone.
  11. what made the Pettis TD special is 1) Pettis just sat down in the zone when the play blew up while the other WR's kept moving and 2) Fields athletic ability to avoid getting tackled, pivot and play catch with Pettis. They both really deserve a lot of credit for how they handled the break down. Fields lobbed that throw....all Pettis had to do was get under it, but credit Fields for finding him. i do think Fields locks on to receivers and holds the ball more then I'd like, but I also feel that is something he can grow out of with more playing time and learning defenses as well as his own offense. He doesn't seem to linger as long as he did last year, at least that's my impression from last Sunday and the last preseason game Nitpicky but Pettis didn't exactly sit down in the end zone... he found a wide open window when the DBs near him started cheating towards Fields anticipating a scramble. It was a defensive breakdown but he did a good job recognizing that and finding an open spot. 12. There are so many factors that go into this....new offense, still young learning QB adjusting to NFL speed. But a long time to throw has been consistently mentioned as a weakness and while there is still plenty of time for him to grow, it concerns me a bit. Whenever I watch those QB breakdown videos, seems like most of the time when a bad throw is shown for Fields, its pointed out that it's a tick too late or he missed his window to hit a different receiver. Even the interception last week, while a bad decision, could have been completed if he had thrown slightly sooner. But it is likely not a throw that Aaron Rodgers would make. When you throw 3-4 interceptions a year, rarely do you make a dangerous throw like that. That said, there's enough pure talent from Fields to make me believe that he should progress to at least an adequate QB. He is definitely improving in a number of areas. He just might be more of a 27 TD, 13 INT guy with significant added value due to his running ability instead of a 33 TD 5 INT guy.
  13. They were positioning for a spot in the 2015 NLCS and we took care of that for them.
  14. I have bad vibes but its most likely a mix of conditioned to expect blowouts against the Packers on prime time and crippling fear that Fields struggles on prime time again. But I'm a pessimist that loves to be proven wrong. Fields was good in his last primetime game against the Steelers. Very true. Just sick of reading about how much Fields sucks by National guys. Would love for him to crush it for 4 quarters and change the conversation
  15. The game thread from the Mets subreddit already has 1200 messages and it’s the bottom of the 1st. This is glorious reading

  17. The update says mono
  18. What kind of contract would Turner demand? I don't see Jed wanting to offer a 30 year old more than a 4 maybe 5 year deal. Especially someone who has had significant trouble staying healthy for a full season in his career. (though the last 2 seasons have been by far his healthiest). If he is our significant investment for a bat, it seems a bit risky even if he is one of the top 3 position players in this class, and maybe the best player that will actually be available (assuming Judge quickly re-ups with NYY and Arenado has to exercise his opt out to be a FA) I love the idea of Trea Turner but I'm not sure if its the smartest move for a FO who may not be able to afford too many mistakes on big FA contracts due to PTR.
  19. Not sure if these were previously announced....
  20. Completely forgot to do this
  21. Kap rumors
  22. Sounds like fun. After returning from injury, deGrom has allowed 8 ER in 7 starts and has a bWAR of 1.9 which is the same as the Cubs pitcher with the highest bWAR on the active roster (Smyly/Stroman)
  23. Sounds like the team doesn't expect Bahktiari back this week, and Ian Rappaport doesn't expect either Bahk or Jenkins to play. Sounds like Runyan has a concussion so he may be out this week as well. Barnes and Walker at ILB may miss this week too. Not only are there no significant injuries from Week 1 on the Bears side that I know about, there may have been 0 injuries in general. I'm sure there's some nagging issues somewhere, but the only question seems to be if Lucas Patrick can snap and start at C over Sam Mustipher. Is Velus Jones practicing? Given that he's a rookie and got limited snaps in the preseason I'm not sure you can just plug him in at WR2 but certainly hopeful he can contribute this year.
