  1. The gif chooser is dead to me bc it doesn't have the "Starlin Phew" gif. Or that creepy old mouse clapping gif OMC used to post (I think it was OMC?)
  2. Not sure how I feel about having a nice guy GM.
  3. Sorry I didnt meant that you could use the manual quote tags like you could on the old board. It's more this: Then creating another quote
  4. This happened to me and drove me nuts. I hit refresh and went back to the reply and there was a button to clear the quote or something.
  5. So umm Opening Day on Thursday, how we doing this? No I’m not volunteering
  6. I think you can still use regular quote tags and do it manually but it doesn’t seem as easy as breaking up the text and using [quote][/quote] around the different chunks of text.
  7. I wonder which of Nico, the Cubs or both didn't want to do an extension for more than 1 year beyond arbitration years. Wasn't necessarily expecting a Braves like extension but we basically just got Nico for 1 more season. Fine I guess...at least we'll have 1 Cubs player on the active roster who signed an extension when Hendricks is on the IL and Bote is toiling away in Iowa.
  8. Imagine if we could play in a WC with Pepi. I mean I know we had so many elite strikers on the roster but still
  9. The US is dominating the parts of this game that I’ve seen but it’s still 0-0. Better not do something stupid and lose this to get eliminated from the Nations League
  10. I’ve seen this on other forums, it’s multi quote. It basically stores a quote and then when you quote someone else I think it allows you to put both quotes in your reply. Not sure exactly how it works here
  11. Hmm...how did I become a Cubs fan? I was born in Chicago, but moved to Baltimore when I was 4 when my parents split. I considered myself a fan of the Orioles, Cubs, White Sox and according to my little league baseball card that asked my favorite team, the Pirates (this was 1991-1992 time frame when they were good). I moved back to Chicago at around 10 (1993ish), and quickly dropped the Orioles and Pirates (though I've always had an affinity for the Orioles, though wouldn't consider myself even the slightest bit of a fan). It was then Cubs and White Sox. And I have to admit that while I liked both teams, I was more of a White Sox fan with those enjoyable early-to-mid 90s teams that were good but never really did anything. Frank Thomas was easily my favorite player of my childhood. Now its 1998 and I'm still fans of both but have moved more towards the Cubs side even before the season started. 1998 was freaking magical and I was captivated by Kerry, Sammy, even Terry Mulholland and Mickey Morandini. Now I was like 75% Cubs, 25% White Sox. I watched the Sox 2000 playoff run but was much more detached. It wasn't until 2003 when I firmly committed to a side and fully turned my back on the White Sox. Since then its been all Cubs as evidenced by my 86,000 posts on this site (once the board finishes indexing)
  12. Looks like Dansby's getting going right on time:
  13. So true, Derwood is probably getting close to providing his thoughts on Quantumania and you don't want to miss that. Edit: Nevermind, Quantumania has only been out 6 weeks so you have some time.
  14. That basically what the Athletic article said. They felt he was better off getting regular ABs rather than sitting on the bench. Inevitably someone will get hurt and he'll be up here.
  15. McKinstry seemed like a nice enough guy and I really wanted him to work out but he just couldn't hit well enough to use a roster spot on him. Any time the Cubs acquire a minor league pitcher I'm excited that they have identified something they can tweak and turn them into another quality guy.
  16. Am I looking at the wrong Luis Torrens? His best wOBA in a season is .311 which would put him in the below average category, just a tick above poor. I get that Gomes and especially Barnhart are also bad hitters but not sure how Torrens helps our offense at catcher, unless I'm missing something...
  17. They have played well. I completely checked out on the season 3 weeks ago. Was so far removed from caring and openly rooting to tank. But now I feel dare I say it, a little excited? obviously the season is still going nowhere and the team is still built to embrace nba hell for some reason but if they keep playing like they they may be able to get into a playoff series which would be a huge accomplishment given where they were a few weeks ago. And heck given their ability to beat good teams this year, perhaps they can have a better series than they had last time, though I don’t like the matchup against either Milwaukee or Philly despite success against both this year.
  18. I can see social/rants but my profile says I’m a Verified Member and I see others profiles that say they are an old timey member. Am I an old timey member? If not can I be added? I desperately crave the status of being an old timey member
  19. The 2005 season-saver himself. Good guess!
  20. What are the best notification setting to ensure that I only get notifications to people who respond to me or react to one of my posts? I checked this morning and saw 8 notifications and thought "wtf I'm definitely not that popular" but it looks like the notifications are for new posts in posts I've commented in.
  21. Feel like you could replace “Swanson” with “Heyward” and 95% of your post would still be true. Not fair to Swanson to compare him to Heyward but while I’m excited to have Dansby and I’m sure he’ll be fine, I still have scars from a similar “good but not great at anything” signing that failed miserably.
  22. Penn State lost to Michigan an hour ago, in OT. It was great.
